The Music Division at the Library of Congress is excited to announce the publishing of two finding aids:
Fuller Sisters Collection - https://hdl.loc.gov/loc.music/eadmus.mu023006
Ira and Leonore S. Gershwin Trust Archive - https://hdl.loc.gov/loc.music/eadmus.mu022023
The Fuller Sisters collection documents the musical careers of the English folk singing trio, with emphasis on five tours the trio took in the United States between 1911 and 1917. Containing approximately 2,400 items, the materials include handwritten correspondence, publicity materials, and photographs from each of the five tours, as well as journals and other written recollections by the Sisters.
The newest published finding aid pertaining to the Library of Congress’s holdings on composer George Gershwin (1898-1937) and lyricist Ira Gershwin (1896-1983) is that for the Ira and Leonore S. Gershwin Trust Archive. Acquired in 2011, the collection consists of approximately 108,000 items. The Gershwin Trust Archive contains materials that are in some respects similar to those in the Music Division’s other Gershwin collections, but the distinction is that the materials in the Gershwin Trust Archive functioned as the office files for Ira Gershwin during his lifetime, and for the Ira and Leonore Gershwin Trusts from Leonore Gershwin’s death in 1990 until these materials were transferred to the Library of Congress.
