The University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty position in Music Theory at the associate or full professor level. The School of Music is seeking an innovative researcher and teacher with expertise in music theory, considered in its broadest sense. The successful candidate will have demonstrated commitment to research and scholarship that builds on and complements the work of current faculty in historical musicology, ethnomusicology, music theory, music education, music composition, and performance.
The Mead Witter School of Music serves approximately 300 undergraduate majors and graduate students in BA, BS, BM, MA, MM, DMA, and PhD degree programs, and is committed to fostering diverse, inclusive, and collegial academic and musical communities.
Applications from researchers in all areas of specialization are welcome. The School is particularly interested in teaching and research that explores recent trends in music theory and interdisciplinary areas of inquiry, including but not limited to new techniques in theory and analysis, sound and media, global, and postcolonial studies. We encourage applications from dedicated scholar-pedagogues, whose teaching reflects a commitment to accessibility and diversity of methodology and representation in the classroom. The candidate will be a leader in reimagining and re-envisioning both the undergraduate curriculum (majors and non-majors) and its graduate programs. The person appointed to the position will be encouraged to forge ties with other departments and programs on campus.
Apply online at "Jobs at UW" (http://jobs.wisc.edu) under job number 287332. Applicants should submit a letter of application and a curriculum vitae. Letters of recommendation will be requested at a later stage of the application process. Please do not submit any other materials than those listed here.
