There will be a film music symposium in MIT's Killian Hall on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in honor of the long and fruitful career of film music scholar Martin Miller Marks. The program is open to the public and includes five scholarly talks, plus a keynote lecture performance by Martin Marks featuring two silent films, "Le voyage dans la lune" (Georges Méliès, 1902) and "Sherlock Jr." (Buster Keaton, 1924). A reception will follow.
Presenters include James Buehler (University of Texas at Austin), Neil Lerner (Davidson College), Hannah Lewis (University of Texas at Austin), Daniel Goldmark (Case Western Reserve University), and Frank Lehman (Tufts University).
