The Amherst College Department of Music invites applications for a full-time, two-year visiting appointment at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor, from scholars, artists, and teachers whose work engages the creative and social dimensions of digital sound technologies.
Within the last decade, Amherst College has profoundly transformed its student body in terms of socioeconomic status, race, and nationality, among other areas. Today, nearly one-quarter of Amherst’s students are Pell Grant recipients; 45 percent of our students identify as domestic students of color. Our expectation is that the successful candidate will excel at teaching and mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexuality orientation, and religion. They will also thrive in the interdisciplinary context of a vibrant liberal arts college. Candidates are encouraged to learn more about Amherst by visiting our web page for prospective faculty at

The appointment will begin on July 1, 2022. The teaching load is two courses per semester, and, in addition, the candidate may be asked to advise senior theses. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or D.M.A. in hand by the start of the appointment. A cover letter, CV, teaching statement, and a list of three references who may be asked to submit recommendation letters should be submitted electronically
