The Department of Music at Brandeis University invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in Music beginning July 1, 2022. The successful candidate will join a small, active department and will have a 3-2 teaching load, which, depending on the candidate’s area of expertise, could include the following: an undergraduate course for majors and non-majors on film music, and another one on popular music (cross-listed with American Studies), a course in our music history sequence, and one or two graduate seminars of interest to our musicology students and/or our composition students.

We seek a dynamic scholar-teacher to augment our current program strengths. The area of specialization is twentieth- and twenty-first-century music, particularly film music, video game music, jazz, and/or popular music.

Candidates should preferably hold a Ph.D. in Musicology by the time of appointment. Applicants should submit a letter of interest that includes a description of the candidate’s research plans and teaching experience, a CV, and a graduate or undergraduate syllabus on Film music or Video Game music. Review of applications will begin April 4.
