The editors of
Open Access Musicology warmly welcome your submissions for our third volume of peer-reviewed, scholarly essays serving students and teachers of music history, (ethno)musicology, and music studies. Volume 1 (
https://doi.org/10.3998/mpub.12063224) appeared in the fall of 2020; we have an exciting roster of new essays slated to be published as Volume 2 in early 2022; and we expect Volume 3 will follow in early 2023.
Submissions for our next volume should be sent to openaccessmusicology -at-
gmail.com by August 15, 2021. We also accept submissions on a rolling basis. Essays should be written in a style and at a level appropriate to the undergraduate music classroom. Please visit our submissions page (
https://openaccessmusicology.wordpress.com/submissions/) for more information about our transparent and deeply humane peer review process.
Because ours is still a new and unusual endeavor, we draw your attention to the following, distinctive features of
Open Access Musicology (OAM):
- OAM is free and media-rich, published digitally by Lever Press on the University of Michigan’s open-access Fulcrum platform.
- OAM is student-centered, with each essay reviewed by students as well as scholars for originality, accessibility, and methodological transparency.
- OAM is designed for use at a range of institutions (liberal arts, research, conservatory, comprehensive school), as reflected by the make-up of our editorial and advisory boards (
https://openaccessmusicology.wordpress.com/who-we-are/).
We look forward to receiving your submissions. Please reach out with any questions or to pitch an essay idea.
Best,
Daniel Barolsky (Editor) and Louis Epstein (Associate Editor)
