The International Society for Research and Promotion of Wind Music (IGEB) is pleased to invite submissions of proposals, posters, or lecture-performances for the 25th International Conference on Wind Music, to be held in Valencia (Spain) July 10-15, 2024 (date to be confirmed).

IGEB celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024 and the main theme of the next international conference is: "50 years of IGEB (1974-2024). Wind Music Research: Balance and Current Issues". Wind music is an artistic concern but is not always accompanied by extensive aesthetic and academic reflection. At the same time, questions arise as to the extent to which research influences wind music or whether today's international context promotes the change processes. Presenters are invited to submit their proposals in the following categories:
- History of IGEB in a multinational dimension
- Wind music research from a historical, social, aesthetic and pedagogical perspective
- Evaluation of the contribution of wind music research to the practice of wind music
- Changes and transformation processes
- Wind music, diversity and gender research
We also welcome proposals that address other approaches in the topic area, including research in progress.

SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS AND DEADLINES

Deadline: December 17, 2023

An abstract (250 words) and a short CV should be submitted by e-mail to Ulrike Maser (igeb -at- uni.lu) with a copy to David Gasche (david.gasche -at- kug.ac.at).

Accepted papers will be notified by January 31, 2024.

IGEB also invites lecturers interested to chair a session to indicate it in its proposal.

LANGUAGES AND PROCEEDINGS

The official languages of the conference will be English, German, Spanish and French.

The organizers encourage PowerPoint presentations in English. Presentations are limited to 20 minutes, leaving 10 minutes for discussion.

Presenters are invited to prepare their paper for publication in the upcoming conference book Alta Musica.

Presenters and chairs are expected to be members of IGEB.

IGEB actively promotes women and therefore encourages them to apply. Diversity also plays an important role at this conference. IGEB strives to provide the best possible support and equal consideration for all participants regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, marital status, disability, or social background.
