Classical Music in Contemporary Media and Society – International Conference Online

When: 13-15 May
Where: Online

Keynote speaker: Professor Lawrence Kramer (Fordham University)

Conference program and registration page can be accessed at: https://www.trippus.net/CMiMS.registration

The online-conference Classical Music in Contemporary Media and Society focuses on how classical music is represented in today’s multifaceted mediascape. The conference brings together scholars and practitioners interested in how ideas, conceptions and values surrounding classical music are reaffirmed, negotiated and disputed in our contemporary mediatized and digitalized world, and the ways in which representations of classical music challenge, subvert or reproduce existing racialized, gendered, and classed power-relations.

The conference is free of charge.

Everyone who has registered for the conference will receive an email with a link to the conference platform. If you have not received this by 13:00 (GMT) on Thursday 12 May, please check your junk folder first, and then email the events team: classicalmusic.helpdesk -at- kultur.gu.se

The conference is hosted by the Department of Cultural Sciences, University of Gothenburg, and co-funded by the Swedish Research Council.
