The Faculty of Humanities of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) for Historical Musicology in the Department of Musicology to be filled as soon as possible.
We are looking for a person who can represent the subject of historical musicology in a broad thematic range, with current methodology and with the aim of intra- and interdisciplinary networking in research and teaching. At least one research focus has to be on the history of music between the 15th and 18th century. As part of the position, teaching is primarily carried out in the musicological bachelor's and master's degree programs; appropriate teaching experience is required. Since management tasks are part of the job profile, experience and a high level of commitment to academic self-administration are expected.
The professorship is integrated into the Freiburg Music Research and Teaching Center (FZM). The willingness to participate in the center's committees and to cooperate in research and teaching is required; scientific interest in music as a practice and the ability to connect to the subjects and methods represented in the FZM are desired. Collaboration with the Center for Popular Culture and Music is also desired. Willingness to participate in collaborative research at faculty and university level is expected.
Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
