Hi All,
I am looking for someone to come up with a program that will convert a traditional notation into an alternative notation ID-Head (see my presentation on 2 Jan 2026).
John T noticed that William Tapley had commisioned such a pregrams for his Gabriel Notation.
William, I hope you are reading this. I visited your website but could not find how to email you directly. Hence I am contacting you via the googlegroup. You comissioned such a program in the 70s. Is the programmer still in business?

Meanwhile below is  the Chopin piece that inspired you find an easier way to show what notes to play. Its in C# mnor with a vist to Db major in the middle and displayed in Synthesia, a popular rendering. Enjoy.

Bob, if you get conversation posts in your email, I think all you have to do is Reply to one from a poster, rather than "Reply to mailing list" or "Reply all" (etc., depending on your email app) for it to go just to that person. There's also a drop-down - vertical three dots icon - in the browser when I'm on here, which has "Reply to author". That might work for you, but for some reason it's greyed out for me (but I have various privacy apps running).

thanks John,
It seems that William Tyndale has not emailed the group in a while.

Hello, Bob Stuckey,

I commissioned my Gabriel notation program just a few years ago through Toptal who found a computer programmer in Europe who also played in a symphony orchestra and who also wrote and spoke English. So I was very lucky he was interested in my project although the cost was exorbitant: $32K. Of course, he also designed the rectangular notes for me so if you use only standard notes in your system the cost might be a little less.

Also, someone else asked me about why I used the two narrow staff subdivisions to register the three black key keyboard grouping and the wide subdivision to register the smaller two black key keyboard grouping and I hope to do a video this week end to explain which I will post on Youtube under my "thirdeaglebooks" channel.

Thankyou, William, for this inside information, including the cost of subcontracting (!), which must be of interest to all the inventors of this group. A touch of reality.
None the less I would like to get a quote from Toptal. Could you send his contact details?

Toptal is a talent search company. They will put you in touch with the talent you want. There are other talent search companies also like Upwork. Just Google Toptal or Upwork etc.

William,
As the one who asked the question, I'm looking forward to your video on the line grouping.

Do you offer a service to convert any conventional notation (pdf, MIDI, MusicXML, Lilypond, Musescore, Finale, etc.) to Gabriel?

Hello, Joseph,
I'm working on your video right now. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow. As far as converting other notations into Gabriel no, I do not offer that service at this time.
William.
