<> The post-fire recovery is chugging along. We are on the heels of a big grant to do slope restoration and erosion control. Friendly little plants have been popping out of the soil. The winter has been kind so far. We won’t know for a while which sizzled trees are stressed enough to be dying. Dead or alive, they will be useful for critters, erosion control, future structures, and so on.
As a result of the dense, poorly cared-for National Forest adjacent to our land burning nearly completely, we now can see and explore new places—amazing viewpoints overlooking our creek valley.

Praises for folks giving your time: tech support–David Powers; bookkeeping support–Dan Kluger; tax exemption filing–Jim Michael; financial discussions via Prudential Committee–Randall and Jem; crowdfunding & publicity/website efforts–Anna Moore, Ben Salafia, Anton David; site monitoring by proximity all summer–Rayanna & Shandi; plus all the people who go to physical work parties (we’ve been cheering you on when the rest of us can’t go). Gast Architects have been donating office space. And Kris Welker has been very helpful with roads and timber, charging only partially because: barter and donation. And I’m gonna thank Kevin, Johnny, Masha, Cordia and Isaiah for all your commitment over the years, and Joel, who is my constant companion and indulges in a bit of Musickal coordinating.
