to Musick Creek announcements
Musick Notes are harmonious.

   Lots of news!   Fun!   Stimulating!

       Amaze your friends!

<> A month ago, we got the largest single donation we ever received! This month we got another even larger—triple the size! Our number of monthly donors is slowly increasing, too. See “Marmots” below.

<> We got a good-sized cut-lumber donation, too. This after losing our lumber piles in the Creek Fire.

<> We're busting out the technical team to upgrade our internet presence. We've begun with a place-holder at musickcreek.org. Got specific content for us? Requests? This could blossom into news, music, education, inspiration, perhaps even dancing lupine flowers, if we can sneak up on ’em just right.

Aside, in a whisper:
• Give any amount with your credit card! No PayPal account needed.
• Monthly donation set-up with just your credit/debit card or with an existing PayPal account.

<> Our species inventory on iNaturalist is growing and getting some IDs. Please reply to this email if you have photos you want to contribute and we’ll set it up. We hope to find close-up photos from before the beetle-kill, but also between the beetle-kill and the Creek Fire. Or post-fire. The phases of life need to be documented! (Apologies: a bunch of photos are marked all at the same exact spot, but ’twill be fixed.)

<> Some of the donations we got through Farcebook last year took a while to get to us, but all's good now. Our income mechanisms are multi-channeled, just awaiting more flow.

<> Our charity and research application for exemption from property tax has been prepared and is heading to the appropriate state and county offices.

<> The post-fire recovery is chugging along. We are on the heels of a big grant to do slope restoration and erosion control. Friendly little plants have been popping out of the soil. The winter has been kind so far. We won’t know for a while which sizzled trees are stressed enough to be dying. Dead or alive, they will be useful for critters, erosion control, future structures, and so on.

As a result of the dense, poorly cared-for National Forest adjacent to our land burning nearly completely, we now can see and explore new places—amazing viewpoints overlooking our creek valley.

(=+=) Monthly Marmots (=+=)
Do what Aya Yamamoto, Pat Wolk, Oyang Teng, Laura Lent & David Kimberling do! Donate a monthly amount of any size, even just a few bucks. This be merry helpful. And gets you thanks in public, no matter the size of your gift.

(=+=) Loan Lions (=+=)
We were able to buy the nature preserve land thanks to donations and loans! If you feel like offering Musick Creek an interest-free loan over $1000 to help pay off our 3% interest loan, please reply! We still owe $35 grand on that 3% loan, plus interest. And we owe about 10 grand more on the 0% loans.

Do the math: Only $45k remaining to pay of the $170k property purchase. We’ve meanwhile covered many other expenses, thanks to you deep forest donors!

(=+=) Perennial Annuals (=+=)
Seventeen people give annually. We all start out as once-off generous lovely urges, flashes of inspiration. We hope you’ll all become annual, or join our monthly marmots. Or…

(=+=) Babbling Brooks (=+=)
Praises for folks giving your time: tech support–David Powers; bookkeeping support–Dan Kluger; tax exemption filing–Jim Michael; financial discussions via Prudential Committee–Randall and Jem; crowdfunding & publicity/website efforts–Anna Moore, Ben Salafia, Anton David; site monitoring by proximity all summer–Rayanna & Shandi; plus all the people who go to physical work parties (we’ve been cheering you on when the rest of us can’t go). Gast Architects have been donating office space. And Kris Welker has been very helpful with roads and timber, charging only partially because: barter and donation. And I’m gonna thank Kevin, JohnnyMasha, Cordia and Isaiah for all your commitment over the years, and Joel, who is my constant companion and indulges in a bit of Musickal coordinating.

(=+=) Those links yet again (=+=)
