Hi,

Most videos of the Amara MusicCaptioning team have at least closed
captions in the original language, but a few don't, because they are
already open-captioned (i.e. captioned in the video itself). For
instance:

http://www.universalsubtitles.org/en/videos/kAqjH4O42z7Z/info/pitch-invasion-dan-bull/
http://www.universalsubtitles.org/en/videos/0QvTpynGd7vV/info/dear-lord-finesse-back-online-after-unlawful-censorship/

are open-captioned in English.

On the one hand, redoing closed captions with the Amara software for
them would facilitate translations in other languages. On the other
hand, double sets of captions in the same language look a bit silly
and are ugly. On the third hand, people watching the videos could
always switch off the closed captions.

So what shall we do?

Best,

Claude

If possible replace open-captioned videos with original videos (which does not include hard coded subtitle). There is no better solution.
