Dear colleagues and students,

Here is a reminder of the Call for Participation for the NIME 2026 Student Consortium, an event dedicated to students who wish to engage more deeply with the NIME community and receive constructive feedback on their research projects.

The Student Consortium is a unique opportunity for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students to:

  • Learn more about the NIME community, its background, values, and ongoing research directions

  • Discover the diversity of approaches and topics explored within NIME, from artistic practice to technical and theoretical research

  • Present their own work-in-progress in a supportive and interdisciplinary environment

  • Receive detailed feedback and advice from peers and senior researchers

  • Better understand how to prepare and submit contributions to NIME, and how to position their work within the community

The Student Consortium is especially designed for students who are at an early or mid-stage of their project and would benefit from discussion rather than formal publication. It is an ideal moment to present your project, ideas, prototypes, or questions, and to refine your research direction before submitting to future NIME conferences or related venues.

Important Dates (23:59 AoE – Anywhere on Earth)

  • 5 March 2026 – Student Consortium submission deadline

  • 9 April 2026 – Acceptance decisions and reviews released

  • 30 April 2026 – Camera-ready submission & presenter registration deadline

  • 23 June 2026 – Student Consortium (half-day session)

  • 24–26 June 2026 – NIME 2026 Conference

Who Can Apply? We welcome applications from:

  • Doctoral students

  • Undergraduate and Master’s students

Ideal candidates:

  • Are early-stage or mid-way through their research

  • Present concrete research content related to NIME themes

  • Do not yet have fully conclusive results

  • Clearly describe what feedback they are seeking and how the Consortium will benefit their work
