The Music Information Retrieval Evaluation eXchange (MIREX) is an annual community-based evaluation campaign for Music Information Retrieval (MIR) algorithms, held in conjunction with the International Society for Music Information Retrieval Conference (ISMIR). We are happy to announce that MIREX 2026 is now open for participation!

This year, we accepted six new challenge proposals and one new task captain proposal. The continued proposal of new tasks brings fresh energy to MIREX. We sincerely thank all task captains and challenge proposers for their contributions, and we warmly encourage the community to participate.

This year, ISMIR 2026 will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE from November 8-12, 2026, and will include an online component. Top MIREX participants and task captains can present their works online or onsite during the ISMIR Late-Breaking Demo session.

How to Participate

  • Read the Participant Agreement and task description carefully.
  • Program your system.
  • Write a 2-4 page extended abstract PDF describing your system.
  • Submit your system and extended abstract to the MIREX submission site.
  • Top-performing teams will have the opportunity to present their MIREX posters at the Late-Breaking and Demo (LBD) session at ISMIR 2026.

  • Submission open: July 1, 2026
