MIREX 2026 -- Second Call for Challenge Proposals & Task Captains

Apologies for cross-posting.

This is a friendly reminder that the MIREX 2026 Call for Challenge Proposals & Task Captains is currently open, with 2 weeks remaining until the submission deadline.

MIREX (Music Information Retrieval Evaluation eXchange) is an annual community evaluation campaign held in conjunction with ISMIR. We invite members of the ISMIR community to help shape the future of MIR research by either proposing new research challenges or volunteering as task captains for existing tasks.

We welcome contributions in the following forms:

• New challenge proposals that addresses cutting-edge problems and push the boundaries of current MIR research.
• Task captains for established tasks who are interested in helping revitalize existing evaluations—potentially by updating evaluation methodologies, datasets, or other aspects to reflect recent advances in the field.

Task captains and participants will have the opportunity to present their tasks or submissions either in person or virtually during the ISMIR Late-Breaking/Demo session.

Deadlines

• Challenge proposals due: May 15, 2026 (AoE)
• Notification of acceptance: May 29, 2026 (AoE)
