music creation and artificial intelligence? Apply for the third edition
of the Artificial Muse residency in Vancouver,
Canada.
For
its third edition, the “Artificial Muse” residency invites a French
artist to explore and develop practices at the intersection between
musical creation and artificial intelligence.
This residency is offered by the
Institut Français du Canada
as part of its “Résidences Ouest-Ouest” program, in partnership with the
Metacreation Lab for Creative AI
at Simon Fraser University
(SFU) School of Interactive Arts & Technology
(SIAT), in Surrey.
The
Metacreation Lab for Creative AI will provide the selected artist with a
space for reflection and work. In contact with local researchers,
creators, and students, they will be able to develop a project using
and appropriating the systems, equipment, and software from the research
laboratory.

Residency dates: November 1 - November 30, 2026
Location: Simon Fraser University (Surrey), BC, Canada
Eligibility:
- Open to all musical and sound practices
- Project combining music and artificial intelligence technologies
- Project using MIDI as the main musical representation
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have resided in France for at least 5 years
- Proficiency in tools like Cubase, Ableton Live (Mac)
- Good command of English
