Please prepare classical or comic monologue and a song - 16
bars
"What Do Women Want? - The Marriage of Sir Gawain" is the tale, or
a
version of the tale, told by Chaucer's Wife of Bath who is
featured
prominently in the "The Canterbury Tales". She also has a very
big
role in this musical. As a feisty, outspoken and much married
ditzy
but down to earth dame, she has several songs and comments
throughout
the main story - which is the tale of Sir Gawain's marriage to
Dame
Ragnelle, aka the Loathly Lady.
Men's roles include Knights of
the Round Table, Lords and other
ensemble characters; Women's roles are the
Wife of Bath, the Loathly
Lady and many ensemble ladies, who of course, tell
us what it is that
women most want.
The team we have put together
includes many of the same folks who
brought "A Hot Day in Ephesus" to the
Live Oak Stage in 2012. This
is a fun and at times slightly irreverent
musical and we hope you can
come out to audition!
