Hi Fellow Musical Creators,
The show ran beautifully this
weekend and actually did have audiences--aver 45--not bad for a new show in
Oakland where "nobody" wants to go. Audiences have hung around to
tell me they really like it, get postcards to send to friends, etc. I'm
really gratified that we've had noticable numbers of African Americans,
nearly half one night, and that they say it strikes them as "completely
believeable."
I have two reasons I'm urging
you to come. One is I'm proud of my show--it's very professional and also
I think I'm a good playwright. I want everybody to see what I can
do! But the other reason is it might be a useful space for some of
you. It is pretty well located, just a block off Broadway--an "off
Broadway show"--and walking distance to BART for some. Several excellent
restaurants are within 5 blocks. We had to have an electric line installed
for the theatre lighting, and I am going to find out if it can be "left" for
other groups. It would certainly be good for the church as well to have
that.
The next two weeks I'll still be
engrossed in various aspects of the show, but after that we could arrange a
once-a-month meeting at my house if you like. There is a piano and
plenty of space. I could do it on a Monday, Tuesday, or
Thursday.
Y'all come! Judith
