Shambhavi School of Dance, headed by Vyjayanthi Kashi, Kuchipudi dance exponent and ex chairperson of  Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy is organizing a two days National Seminar in Dance, Music & Theater and A Dance festival billed as MŪLAM on 30th & 31^st July 2016 as part of Guru Poornima at, Natana Ranga Shala, Mysore. Guru Shishya Parampara has been the ancient system of imparting knowledge which is a system unique to India. The Guru Shishya Parampara system has been followed for ages now, in the training of dance, music, yoga etc. All legends, irrespective of the field, have been trained through this system. With the changing times, our classical arts have moved on from being taught in Guru's courtyard to closed classrooms in universities.  The main objective of this seminar is to discuss the pros and cons of this shift.

 

Being in the field of dance for over 3 decades as a shishya, performer and as a guru for nearly 15 years, Vyjayanthi Kashi, founder Director of Shambhavi School of Dance thinks it is important for us to preserve this relationship.  As we understand that Mysore University is one of the oldest ones in Karnataka to include a degree in fine arts and with the new addition of Gangubai Hanghal University in Mysore, we think that there could be no better place than Mysore to have this National Seminar & Dance Festival. Accordingly, we have as part of the seminar senior Gurus, dance exponents and the younger generation teachers and performers who will openly discuss the pros and cons of this relation in a healthy atmosphere.

 

        Added attraction is an Abhinaya workshop by Sri.P S A Manu, from Eranakulam on both days, workshop fee Rs.600/-(Rupees Six hundred only)

 

        The evening session has three performances lined up each day and will be presented by the Senior Gurus of National Fame and their Shishyas in different classical dance styles on both days.

        The entrance to the morning seminar session and evening performance is free and open to public and art lovers. Please find attached the invite to the event .Join us and spread the word around
