The Light Eurythmy Ensemble 
from Dornach, ​in ​Switzerland
will present​ a Eurythmy performance with 
a Fairy Tale, Poems and Music at the 
​​Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan 
at K. Munshi Marg, Girgaum Chowpatty, Mumbai 400 007 
​at 11 am morning on 24 January 2016 Sunday.

 

Eurythmy is an art of movement, which can be defined as Visible Speech and Visible Music. It is a branch of Anthroposophy, the Spiritual Science founded by the Austrian philosopher and seer, Dr Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925).

​Eurythmy is ​thus ​a
​​
 modern art with a spiritual origin.

It can be performed on stage, as w​ith the unique opportunity provided by the Dornach ensemble's performance, but also has applications in Pedagogy and in Medicine.​

​ 
It is taught to groups of children and adults as a means to enhance coordination and concentration. Curative, or Therapeutic, Eurythmy is used in healing.

repertoire for pre-screening
1. Any two Two-part Inventions (BWV 772 – 786) by Johann Sebastian Bach
2. Any one of 24 Preludes, Op. 28 by Frederick Chopin
3. Any one of 24 Preludes, Book I (L 117) or Book II (L 123) by Claude Debussy
4. Any one of 24 Preludes, Op. 34 by Dmitri Shostakovich
repertoire for the final stages
The repertoire for the final stages will be announced once the semifinalists have been selected.
notes on repertoire
1. Participants who entered the competition in 2013, 2014 and/or 2015 should not choose any of the
Two-part Inventions that they have previously performed at Con Brio.
2. The Bach Inventions must be performed from memory. This is not required for the other works.
3. Performing pieces well is always more important than performing pieces that are considered difficult.
4. Unless essential to the communication of the work, participants should not play long repeats.
5. Even though participants are advised to use reputed “urtext” editions, they are free to use any
standard edition.
6. Page turners may be used in pre-screening video submissions.
7. There are no timing requirements.

1. January 31, 2016: You will receive the ‘how to enter Con Brio 2016’ document via email. Please contact
us in February if you do not receive this document.
2. April 20, 2016: Your entry (online submission with fee couriered), along with recordings will be due.
3. April 30, 2016: The semifinalists will be announced via email.
4. August 19, 2016: Technical rehearsals for all semifinalists in the morning at the NCPA, Mumbai.
5. August 21, 2016: The finals and prize distribution in the evening at the NCPA, Mumbai.

The second leg of Sound Reasons IV, festival for sound art and electronic music will take place from 5 January 2015 to 22 January 2016 with performances and sound installations in Delhi and Bangalore. At the Vadehra Art Gallery and FICA Reading Room in Delhi, six international and Indian artists will showcase their works from 05 - 09 January 2016. 

Sound Reasons is a multidisciplinary domain and as a recording label, Studio plus the Sound Art/ Electronic Music festival, it brings together artists from all over the world to interact, exchange and reflect on their practice. It is supported among others, by Pro Helvetia New Delhi.

[1 of 3] Seminar: “Revival of Sarangi and Interface with Carnatic Violin” 
At ‘Experimental Theatre NCPA’ on Friday, 29th – 9.30 am to 5.30 pm 
In collaboration with Indian Musicological Society 

The seminar will be inaugurated by violin maestro Shri T.N. Krishnan. The sessions will be addressed by eminent practitioners of sarangi and violin including S/s Ram Narayan, N. Rajam, Dhruba Ghosh, Sriram Parshuram and others. Among various topics, the salient features of instrument-making, bowing techniques, gayaki, tantrakari etc. will be analysed and discussed, providing in-depth insight into these two bowed instruments.

[2 of 3] Seminar : “The Changing Profile of Indian Music” 
At ‘Experimental Theatre NCPA’ on Saturday, 30th & Sunday, 31st – 9.30 am to 5.30 pm 
In collaboration with ITC-Sangeet Research Academy 

The seminar will be inaugurated by Sri Partho Chatterjee, trustee, ITC-SRA. Shri Javed Akhtar, the renowned poet, lyricist and writer, will deliver the keynote address. In the last two decades ITC-SRA organised several seminars to assess the changes that have occurred in the performance practices, aesthetic norms, and role of the musicians, media and organizers in promotion of Indian music. Taking this trend forward, there will be deliberations involving musicians (vocalist and instrumentalists across various genres), connoisseurs, media persons, recording companies and music educators to understand the changes that have occurred recently. There will be a special presentation on the role of Sangeet Natak Akademi in the promotion of Indian music. Stalwarts such as Ustd Zakir Hussain, Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia and Dr Shekhar Sen are expected to participate in the concluding session, being moderated by Pt Arvind Parikh.
