Finale immediately closes on show()

I set 'musicxmlPath' in .music21rc (I'm using Cygwin).

I do:

import music21

music21.note.Note('F2').show()

Finale opens with a blank staff (the note is not shown) then

quits after a second or two.  I tried stalling the script with

a long loop so it wouldn't end, but this made no difference.

Any ideas?
