to Music Under the Southern Cross
Six of the members of Melinda Gilkes' Moreton Celtic Fiddle Club
entered the "Homestead Country Music Competition" in Caboolture,
Queensland.
Third place went to Hannah Deigan, who came to the Music Under the
Southern Cross School 2 years ago, aged 6, and second place went to
Jess Trueman, who also came to the School 2 years ago and is a little
older than 6.
All the 6 girls played celtic sets of music and competed against
country music fiddlers and guitarists.
In the under 17's anything goes section the kids performed "Stella's
Trip to Kamloops" and "The Lovatt Scouts"...the house was thumping and
they had a standing ovation, everyone tapping and clapping and yelling
for more.
So let's see more celtic music infiltrating the country music
scene....
Mike and Beth are very proud of Jess and Hannah and ALL the players
who were up on stage there doing the good stuff with celtic music.
