I was so proud last night to watch one of our Scottish Fiddlers,
Bridget Hickey, play outstandingly at the St. Patricks Festival
competition, and win. A very close second was our own Damien Hingston
on the pipes, which actually stayed in tune on a very hot night, and
he played fantastically.
Also on stage with the band Dancer's Delight, was our own Sirocha
Bruckard who was last years winner. Sirocha has had to miss the last
two Schools, but I'm sure she'll be back with us soon.
Other Schoolies who have won this award are Kathy Hickey, Leueen
Morgan and Khalida de Ridder.
Congratulations to you all, I'm like a proud mum.
As an addendum, I went in the competition last night as well, singing
three songs, but I was beaten by an 8 year old girl! But it was for
emerging talent, and I guess I've been emerging for over 40 years.
Great to see the tradition going on like this. Alice sang Paddy
McGinty's Goat - never go onstage with children and animals, right?
See you at the National next week
