Hello!

We were talking about how to simply integrate Ivan's taxonomy into MO
with Frederick yesterday - and it seems like there are some things to
do.
First, we have to reintroduce mo:instrument (subclass of hasFactor,
having as a domain Performance), which somehow disappeared in the last
release:-)

The question is: what should we put as a range for this property?
skos:Concept? Or can we create a subclass of skos:Concept, more
specific to "instrument"?

We can also create another property playsInstrument (MusicArtist -->
Instrument), linking a musician to the instruments he can play.

Btw - Florent, did you have some time to take a look at the wikipedia
genre taxonomy?

Cheers!
Yves

Hello
New to the list; I am currently working on building the web site of my music shop retail, and thus I am thinking of using the music ontologies.
Now, regarding the instruments, I believe they are not simply a relation to the musician who can play with them; the composer is thinking in terms of the various instruments he (she) will compose with.
Instruments are also linkable to various cultures, even if similarities between them across the various cultures can be observed.
Instruments have musical colors etc...
thus to be as complete as possible, a specif ontology seems (to me) a necessary step.
Regards
Michel
