As a test for the 'Jazz Ontology', I'm trying to model an upcoming
Jazz festival with its performances.
I don't want to bother you with all the details, but I must say that
it helps to get some feedback, so here's my new question.
If you look at the schedule of a jazz festival, there's all kinds of
'agents' around, like here:

How to deal with groups, indidviduals and group memberships?
For solo artists, I see no problem.
For bands, groups or any sort of 'kollektief', I'm wondering how
people are modeling this:
- Default case: group with static membership, agent of performance is
group
- Special case 1: different (static) ensembles under the same name
('Trio' artist plays with two US musicians in the US, two European
musicians in Europe; or the various "Miles Davis Quintet"s in the
early sixties)
- Special case 2: group is a "project label" for slowly or rapidly
changing casts
There might be more special cases.
To keep things simple, I considered to state group membership for each
event anew, but I'm wondering if there were any 'side effects' - would
it lead to contradictions if the group is stated as an entity and
membership for an event differs from default membership?
And what about change in general? Has the mo:member_of property a
temporal dimension? And if not, which I guess, how can I express the
trajectory of a certain musician through different ensembles, and do
it in an ontology?
Thanks for any enlightenment.
best regards,
Christoph
