An attempt was made to break into the Gun and Military Museum in Kuhmoinen, Pirkanmaa last Friday morning, police in the region believe.

The incident comes after 34 handguns were stolen from the museum last Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Kari Aaltio told reporters that Friday's attempted burglary was unsuccessful, and nothing was taken.

Aaltio declined to comment on whether the police have any information about the suspects or their motive. He has previously confirmed that all the weapons stolen last Tuesday were functional and able to fire.

Following Tuesday's break-in, police asked the public for help in identifying a Toyota Avensis spotted in the area around the time of the burglary. A similar vehicle was also seen in the Kuhmoinen area on Friday.

Police have asked anyone with tips or information on either incident to contact them via email su...@poliisi.fi using the subject title "Asevarkaus Kuhmoinen" or by phone 0295 414 741.

Friday's incident was first reported by Ilta-Sanomat.
