HELPER, Utah (KUTV) — Authorities are seeking information on a historic artifact that was stolen from the Helper Museum.

Representatives of the museum said an antique miner’s soft cap was stolen from an exhibit on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The cloth hat was reportedly found in the Wattis Coal Mine located in Carbon County.

According to Project MUSE, the Wattis Mine was founded in 1916 by Ogden businessman W.H. Wattis.

Helper police officers have asked that anyone with information regarding this theft contact Price Dispatch at 435-637-0890 and reference Helper City Police Department case number 224239.

No other details were released.
