Right. So we ran into the same problem on Tuesday... although, slightly
different since your new video should have gone into one of the empty
slots. But regardless, we came up with the following solution (which
will be deployed by Alexandre next week):
* Movies come in FIFO order (ie, oldest posts to SIFT will be the
first to arrive in Modul8).
* It is up to the maintainer of the SIFT channel to ensure that the
VJ is not overwhelmed with really old content. Our idea is to have
2 channels for every performance: one for 'advance' content, and
another for 'live' content.
* The videos will fill the slots available, and extras will remain
queued until slots are freed.
* The VJ can free slots either by deleting the video, or moving the
clip to another media set (ie, keeping the clip).
* We will add a feedback display that shows how many videos are
waiting in the queue.
Now, upon writing this, I think it would be a nice feature to also be
able to choose between FIFO and LIFO... just in case the VJ doesn't have
2 separate channels and wants to mix the most 'live' and pertinent content.
Alexandre, can you add such a control to the Modul8 plugin?
