Hi,

I've been getting "400 bad request" errors on my Livecast (QT) streams
all day. The event is 1693 (Mobile Monday Vancouver, Feb 9, 2009). (I
received similar errors last Friday for a different event, albeit not
so consistently).

The Windows Media format worked for a short time, then died. But the
Quicktime stream has been completely nonfunctional today.

Can someone please look at this today? I need to be able to demo this
tonight at MoMoVan.

Hi Jean,

We'll look at it right now.

If you're talking about the 'Live Stream Test' from the Livecast component
page, I just tried it now and it worked for me.

There might be something more subtle at work here.

I'm streaming from my N80 over WiFi using m1693 and password m. Is there
any other information you coud provide? Do you see the streams in Modul8?

Jim

I see them in Modul8 (though I'm getting no jpeg previews in RM). I'm
using an N82 over WiFi, same credentials.

Live QuickTime stream works for me:
1) developers.mobilemuse.ca userid raincity
2) Event Id 1684 "histories test"
3) Nokie N82 over Wifi

Yes the issue of no JPG previews is a known issues - unfortunately with an
unknown resolution.

As for the 400 issue.. I'll leave that to Andriy to investigate. Just my 2
cents that 'it worked form me'

P.S. I used your credentials Jean - not my own - so I should be reproducing
your case more or less exactly. I'm also using FF browser

OK - after rebooting my phone and reentering my credentials in the
mobile software it seems to work intermittently again, but not well.

What are the optimal video settings on the Livecast N-series software?
I checked what I was using and I had it set to "High-300 Kbps
VGA" (left over from last week's experiments). Might that be the
culprit?

I wouldn't presume to know the answer to that question. I'll defer to
Andriy

...and Bingo! Resetting down to 128 kbps makes it respond quickly, w/o
the intermittent service.

What kind of connection is recommended for the higher resolutions?
Seems Wi-Fi can't cut it.

Jean.

Hi Everybody,
Just tested everything with N810 over wifi at 80 and 300 Kbps, watched
in FF.
Worked fine for me, no 400.
Jean, are you still having any problems? Would you pls describe in
detail?
160 Kbps might work better in some cases.
Thanks,
Andriy.

Hi Jean,

Here is advice from Tony, our director of support...

Although the N82 supports VGA (640x480) on one of its cameras, to stream
that resolution at 300 kbps VGA is just too much bandwidth and data for a
mobile device on mobile network. When Nokia says it's camcorder can record
640x480 at 30 fps, this is for local recording. (Perhaps a WiMAX phone could
handle that setting).

Even streaming at that 300 kbps VGA via WiFi or wired connectivity from a PC
is going to be a heavy load and likely lower the actual frame rate
substantially.

We suggest that you use 160 kbps setting or 300 kbps non-VGA.

Best,
Jennifer

Thanks, Jennifer. Helpful to know the limits to performance.

Jean.
