Number for SMS gateway -> SIFT??

Hi folks,

As Roland mentioned you can see the page that describes what we'll be
doing for Mobile SWARM on September 5 at http://wiki.fearlesscity.ca/index.php?title=Mobile_swarm

I've just completed an interview about it with Janet Smith of the
Georgia Straight and she is hoping to include the number that we will
be texting to. In the document referenced above I mention using
778-552-6873 - the number of the MUSE gateway that I witnessed working
with SIFT on May 20th.

Is this the number that we should use - ie. the number that should go
into the article??

I think the short answer is: "No - that will not be the number you
use".

That number is for testing and development - although in principle and
deployed project may also use that number. However using that number
always
involves a cumbersome process of educating user to "send text - always
making sure your first word is XXX" (or something like that).

We can provide a dedicated longcode to your cause. I have on I can
allocate
to your project when required. Though you are currently unable to use
that
number, when ready I will allocate 604-825-1277 to you.

Therefore for puposes of your article you can publish this number.

When you are ready to start the technical work on the project, let me
know
and I will setup this longcode for you

Thanks Jim. I've informed the Georgia Straight so it should appear in
next thursday's edition. When can I start sendding test messages
through encoded with codes indicated on the wiki page? Where will I
find the corresponding SIFT page?
