Patient Registration concept - need ideas, input or assistance

Looking for contacts who may be using (or vendors who may be offering) credit card sized cards embedded with limited patient info for simplifying the patient registration process.  We’ve heard of some potential in this area and would like information about it…

 

Scenario:  patients have a card which securely holds their information (name, age, sex, unit number) that they can scan or swipe upon presentation to the ED or hospital admitting department.  This may speed the process and could be a potential gateway to patient self-registration (limited).  It will certainly reduce or eliminate errors with wrong patient selection…
