PDF symbols printing as black

Here is something that has happened fairly recently between MUS2 and MacOS. PDFs exported from MUS2 now print with symbols as black boxes. I can print just fine directly from MUS2, and exported PDFs also print fine on my Windows machine. But older PDFs exported from MUS2 still print fine from my Mac. So there is definitely something going on. Any ideas?
