Muriwhenua - ‘this is the end of the land’. The tribal territory forms the tail of Māui’s fabled fish, including the northernmost tip of NZ – Te Rerenga o nga Wairua (leaping spirits) & Murimotu. Rich in such legends, the history of the tribes is also; one of ancestral lands taken and reclaimed.
