What operating system? How did you install mupen64plus?

I use Windows 7 Home Edition. I got the 32-bit version without the new dynarec and then extracted it into a folder. Then I double-clicked the test ROM and it worked. Then I changed the controls, tried to launch the test ROM and it worked. Then I tried Super Mario 64 and got that error.

I do not use windows so I can not help much. What are the filenames of the test ROM and Super Mario 64?  What is listed if you right click 'open with >' for each game?

The filename of the test rom is m64p_test_rom.v64 and SM64's is Super Mario 64 (U) [!].z64. When I right-click, then "open with" just mupen64plus-ui-console pops up

Does right click "open with" for each game or ROM show mupen64plus-ui-console? Do you have more than one version of Mupen64plus installed?

It shows just mupen64plus-ui-console. I have only one version of Mupen64plus.

It looks like it loaded the ROM but couldn't find the plugins or the database file. Did you try putting the SM64 rom into the same folder as the emulator and running it from there?
