Some games have noticeable slowdown when certain events occur (a lot of exposives going off in Goldeneye, 4 player ladder match in WWF No Mercy).  This poor performance is present in mupen64plus, even on the most high performance PCs.  Is there any feature that overclocks the emulated N64 CPU, so that these kinds of slowdowns are avoided?   Thanks

There is a setting called CountPerOp which has the effect of speeding up or slowing down the CPU.  The default value is 2.  You can set it globally (for all games) in the mupen64plus.cfg file.  If this value is less than or equal to 0, then it will use the per-game values which are set in mupen64plus.ini.  I haven't done much testing with this, so I don't know how well it works to improve the performance of the emulated CPU.  Since the games were not designed to run with an overclocked CPU, they may even have bugs when you speed them up.  Setting this value to a lower value will speed up the emulated CPU.
