Hi, on my mac computer I was using mupen64plus, and it seems to work
quite well, but I was wondering if there was a setting similar to the
one that project64 uses called “counter factor.” In pj64 I set this
setting to 1 instead of the default 2 and it seems to eliminate all
lag from the game super mario 64, which is especially nice in dire
dire docks. If anyone knows of actually any way that is known to
eliminate lag that would be great. Thanks in advance.

The Counter Factor is a hack that alters the interrupt timing of the N64. It's a pretty severe speedhack in that regard, and as far as I know has not been implemented in mupen64plus.

If you want other ways to reduce lag, check out the mupen64plus.cfg file, especially the Video-General section as well as the section dedicated to your graphics plugin. (Probably Rice)

In there, you should be able to alter settings like resolution, and certain shaders. Fog, for example, can be disabled with little penalty, as well as more hackish things like how often the framebuffer is refreshed.

Im still interested in knowing if this is possible, someone could at least confirm that this feature is not available?

Thanks but I looked around a bit and didn't really find what I was looking for. Fortunately though I got my ps3 controller to work with pj64 through wine skin so I don't have any issues anymore :) Thus ends my affair with mupen64plus.
