Dear all,
My name is Isik Oguzertem and it is my honor to serve as your Secretary-General for the Fourth Annual MUNTR Conference, to be held March 3-7 2008 at the Sheraton Conference and Convention Center in Ankara, Turkey.
Changes
The MUNTR Platform has been hard at work since the last conference to restructure the organization from the ground up, expanding our work as an active group working directly with the UN Office of the Resident Coordinator in Ankara to spread the ideals of the United Nations, as well as to offer an MUN conference experience unparalleled in Turkey and the entire region.
As of September, the MUNTR Training Team will be traveling to schools in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Eskisehir, Sivas and Adana to help establish MUN Clubs and provide academic assistance to already established groups. If you would like the MUNTR Team to come to your school and contact you about initiating a project at your school, please contact me at this address.
Euro-Asia MUN
As many delegates are initially overwhelmed by the prospect of MUN, the MUNTR Platform will be organizing a smaller-scale, four day "mini" conference October 25 - 28 2007. This conference will offer two days of training, support, and workshops, while the weekend will offer a full-scale conference for all interested parties. The project is a joint venture of TOBB-ETU MUN, Bilkent MUN, and the MUNTR Platform. If you are experienced, we hope you will share your expertise with us for Euro-Asia MUN to help spread the world of MUN to the less experienced.
If you are interested in this project, either in attendance or assistance, feel free to respond. Updates regarding Euro-Asia MUN will be available on the MUNTR website as of September 20.
MUNTR 2008
Preparation for MUNTR 2008 is well underway. Applications for the position of Committee Director (Chair) are now online until October 15.
Registration for Delegation/Delegate/Observer/Press Corps positions will open September 15. We encourage you to apply early in order to guarantee your spot.
New Communication
All MUNTR mailings will gradually be shifted to the newly created GoogleGroup. If you are receiving this email through the old list " mun...@yahoogroups.com", we strongly recommend you immediately sign up for the new list by going to http://www.muntr.org, and entering your address in the field on the front page. Correspondence will be sent to both groups until 2008 before all Yahoo! Groups relations will be ceased.
If you use the social networking site Facebook, we invite you to join the MUNTR group if you have ever attended one of our conferences. If you are guaranteed to attend MUNTR 2008 you can even sign up for the March 2008 event. This helps us determine approximate numbers and helps you "lobby" prior to the conference.
This year we expect an unprecedented increase both in participants and in debate quality, so make sure to join us this March for an unforgettable MUN experience. Renowned guest speakers, captivating debate, an exhilarating nightlife...and of course the charm of the MUNTR atmosphere welcome you.
