Dear delegates, observers, directors, organizational staff, and friends,

A week has passed since MUNTR 2008 has sadly come to an end, and I think we've all begun to wake up from that unforgettable dream-like week. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the Organizational team, Administrative Staff, and the Committee Directors for making the conference possible. Their hard work and dedication in the months leading up to MUNTR 2008 has been truly inspiring.

At the opening our Director-General, Mr Oguz Ozguldur, said, "we set the stage, but it is you delegates who are expected to play your parts in this political theater." Looking back on the conference week, I can say with full confidence that you have all played your parts marvelously. Without your active participation and earnest interest in producing effective resolutions, the conference would never have been as rich as it was. For this, on behalf of the MUNTR Platform, I would like to thank you, the most distinguished delegates, for making MUNTR 2008 truly unforgettable.

Many of you have caught the MUN-bug and are actively seeking new conferences to attend. I suggest you sign up for the MUN-E-News newsletter at Yahoo Groups, where you'll receive weekly updates of MUNs being organized all around the world.

But don't forget that there is also a world beyond the simulation; here are the contact details of the two presentations at the Closing Ceremony that allow you, as young people, to get involved in the real world of NGO politics:

1) The 5th World Water Forum, due to take place in Istanbul in 2009, bringing together over 20,000 people from around the world. Contact Ms Yesim Dodanli at ydod...@worldwaterforum5.org to find out how you can get involved in the process.

2) The 12th THIMUN Youth Assembly, due to take place in The Hague, The Netherlands in July 2008, bringing together a select group of youth from around the world to contribute to an "international youth think-tank" that actively develops real solutions to real problems, thinking globally, acting locally. Contact Mr Gurel Gurkan at gur...@youthassembly.org or visit www.youthassembly.org for details on how to apply.

One of the key goals of the MUNTR Platform is to spread both Model United Nations as an activity as well as the very values of the United Nations within Turkey and the region. To this end, if you would like to help us in this process by joining the MUNTR Platform and contributing to the organization of MUNTR 2009, please send me an email expressing your interest.

Include your full name, date of birth, school, department, and MUN experience (only one MUNTR experience is required). We will be holding a Platform meeting in April in Ankara to begin discussions about the year ahead of us, but remember that there is always a great deal you can contribute from outside Ankara (and even abroad). Contact us and we'll add you to the new mailing list. All director positions are open for applications, and will be finalized by May 2008. Click here for more information about the MUNTR Platform,(http://muntr.org/v2/index.php?p=organization) and here for the positions that are available:(http://muntr.org/v2/index.php?p=organization_team).

And last but certainly not least, the final issue of the MUNtribune, with all the "Mosts" and the "Outstanding Delegates" awards is now online! Just go to the MUNTR website (www.muntr.org) and click on the "MUNtribune" link on the left-hand menu. We apologize for the lateness, we've been busy hunting down pictures of missing delegates!

We wish you the best of luck with your future activities, and sincerely look forward to welcoming you again next year. We hope the experience has been as gratifying for you as it has been for us. I can wholeheartedly say that it has been the greatest honor to work with all of you.

Sincerely yours,

--
Isik Oguzertem
MUNTR 2008 Secretary-General
