icon, Mr. Godfather Of Ska, Laurel Aitken, was born in Cuba where he lived
until he was 8 years old and moved to Jamaica. His career started singing
Calypso, Jazz, Cuban and Boogie Boogie for tourists in Jamaica in the early
50's. This one is his only Spanish album in such a long career, he recorded
it in Spain in the late 90's, when Laurel was in his seventies, along with

Records en 1988 y reincorporaba a Steve Kent (primer guitarrista del grupo
durante 1980-81) a la formación que estaba integrada por Micky Fitz (voz),
Steve Whale (guitarra), Mark Brennan (bajo) y Micky Fairbairn (batería). Esta
segunda guitarra daba una fuerza y sólidez al grupo que no habían alcanzado
en sus anteriores grabaciones. A destacar los melódicos solos de Steve Kent ,
que unidos a la potente base del grupo, crearon una tremenda combinación de
fuerza y melodía, sin lugar a dudas los dos ingredientes básicos para todo
grupo de oi!- streetpunk que se precie. El disco contiene 12 coreables himnos
en la mejor tradición del punk británico de finales de los 70s y principios
de los 80s, lleno de letras afiladas y reales en las que ,sin caer en
tópicos, describen la vida de la juventud obrera de los barrios ingleses.

Chilean prog band Embrujo began as El Embrujo Ques Besa or Kissing Spell,
formed by the guitarist, singer and drummer Carlos Fernandez with chief
songwriter Juan Carlos "Tato" Gomez on bass and vocals and Ernesto
"Kiko" Murillo on lead guitar, with organist&flautist Ernesto
Aracena and pianist/flautist Guillermo Olivares joining later. Signing to
Camilo Fernandez's Arena Producciones in 1970, debut LP -Los Pajaros- was
issued under the Kissing Spell moniker, but Chile's unstable political
climate, subject to CIA meddling, saw them renamed Embrujo for their coveted
second album, the self-titled disc mixing subtle Latin elements within their
beautifully-delivered songs of quietly contemplative psychedelic rock. A
must-have for all South American psych fans out there, limited to 500 copies
only.

meditations ("Turn the Time"), drum machine fueled heart pangs
("Picture Taker"), and the ethereal ruminations of a shut in
("Loud Sounds"). After tracking live at Brooklyn's Figure 8
Studios, guitarist Ezra Tenenbaum and drummer Michael Stasiak fleshed out
knotty hook-filled arrangements at home with the help of a rotating crew of
friends, including Kyle Forester (Woods, Purple Mountains), John Andrews

1967 BROADCAST ALBUM
The Experience's first three releases were 45s on Track Records, the
independent label owned by The Who managers Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp. All
three reached the top ten of the UK pop charts in early 1967> Hey Joe
& Stone Free made 6 in January, Purple Haze 3 in March and The Wind Cries
Mary 6 in May. Naturally, their TV appearances at this time were largely
vehicles for promoting these records but the most unusual broadcast we
feature here is a studio session recorded for the experimental Dutch TV show
Hoepla, where the band was encouraged to perform extended versions of their
songs. Sound quality ranges from excellent (Dutch, French TV) to acceptable
(UK TV). This album shows us just how good they sounded as they transition
from psychedelic pop group to stadium rock band.

Percussive titan Tito Puente brought various forms of Latin rhythm into the
consciousness of mainstream America and western Europe through a career that
lasted over half a century, introducing enthralling Latin styles to the
broader public from the early 1950s. His 1956 masterpiece 'El Rey del timbale
aux percussions' features an all-stars line-up consisting in Mongo
Santamaria, Wilie Bobo,. Cuban-born congero Carlos "Patato" Valdes
(who had already recorded with Kenny Dorham for Blue Note and who was soon to
record with Art Blakey) and Miami-born acoustic bassist Bobby Rodriguez (who
had played with Dizzy Gillespie and Noro Morales) and Tito himself. The end
result was simply astounding, a powerhouse of percussive jams delivered Latin
style. It would spawn several copycat successors, including Puente's own Top
Percussion, but nothing really tops the invigorating, spontaneous feeling
captured on 'Puente In Percussion'. A dramatic, action-packed set from start
to finish, the beauty of the collaboration is ably reflected on "The Big
Four" and "Congo Beat"< "Tito And Mongo On
Timbales" is a percussive duel and "Swinging The Mambo"
betrays the influence of jazz on the percussive styles. Puente In Percussion
was so ahead of its time that it has enjoyed repeated demand throughout the
decades, reaching back into circulation in the 1960, 70s, 90s and into the

best-known as the founder of the Pan-Afrikan People's Orchestra of PAPA, also

Of The Unsung, released in small number on pianist Toshiya Taenaka's
Interplay label, features Tapscott alone on piano, delivering a superb set of
freely interpreted jazz tunes, including an unfettered reading of Lester
Robertson's "In Times Like These" and Cal Massey's
"Bakai," along with two of his own heartfelt originals.

Roman pianist and film composer Armando Trovajoli scored over 300 feature
films during his remarkable career. Starting out in the 1930s as a player in
Orchestra Rocco Grasso and Sesto Carlini's beloved jazz orchestra, in 1949 he
represented Italy at the Festival du Jazz de Paris and he began composing
films three years later. Jazz Piano, released by RCA in 1959, saw Trovajoli
fronting a quartet with three of his regular orchestra members, namely
drummer Sergio Conti, bassist/arranger Berto Pisano and guitarist Enzo
Grillini, sensitively tackling Monk's "Round Midnight," relegating
"Get Me To The Church On Time" as rapid piano jazz, and plenty
showtunes similarly reconfigured.

As soon as the opening
track of Electric Children begins you realize that the Monkeywrench have
gotten much tighter in this their second álbum, since their debut eight years
before. The production also seems more raw, possibly due to the fact that the
band has moved from Conrad Uno to veteran Seattle producer Jack Endino, who
also engineered the first releases from bassist Steve Turner and vocalist
Mark Arm's other band, Mudhoney. Also contributing to the rawness of the
record is the absence of Arm-s trademark piano and organ. This enhances the
energy, causing you to notice a more frantic, electrified side of the band.
As on the debut album, Clean as a Broke-Dick Dog, several genres of music are
given equal time, including the country of 'Thirteen Nights' and 'The Empty
Place', the rockabilly of 'The Weasel's in the Barn', the Eastern modal
quality of 'Around Again', and the noise rock of the closing number, 'In the
Days of the Five'. The Monkeywrench have grown in their ability to craft a
song, and the result is a masterpiece.

a 90's inspired steppers riddim. The first verse is played by UK Dub legend
Chazbo, while the second verse is played by Japanese melodica player Yuuri
Bamboo, bringing to the table two unique and different yet complementary
melodica styles. On the B side we find a hypnotic and adventurous
stripped/down dub version, reminiscent of those early morning dubs at a Shaka
session, mixed live in analog by Ojah at his studio. Limited edition of 350
copies, hand-stamped and hand-numbered, served in a thick custom reversed
kraftliner sleeve.

Originally written and released by Woody Guthrie in 1947, this cover version
of Pastures Of Plenty by Pete Tevis - a Californian folk singer living in
Rome in 1962 - was arranged by Ennio Morricone. A few years later, Sergio
Leone wanted Morricone to score his up and coming western called A Fistful Of
Dollars. Legend has it Morricone wrote some music, Leone hated it. Morricone
then played him this old single. Leone wanted this music but with a new
melody over the top. The rest is film music history. This is the first ever
repress of this hugely important single since 1962. Originals copies are mythical to say the least.

A limited reissue of this 2011 album by Acid Mothers Temple. Comes as a
transparent red with black swirl coloured 2LP in gatefold sleeve with new
artwork. With the exception of the album-s opener 'Chinese Flying Saucer' and
it's unashamedly obvious musical references to Led Zeppelin II (hello 1969!)
the rest of the album locks into a much more laid-back groove than on recent
AMT releases. This dynamic shift is best displayed on the 22 minute jam,
'Shine On You Crazy Dynamite' and also the album's closer 'Electric Death
Mantra'. The band opt for less frantic explosions of electric guitar overload
and fuzz, replacing those elements with a more epic, blissed-out and at times
brooding Japanese psychedelia, with more emphasis on acoustic guitars, sitar,
organ, synthesiser and at times, really trippy vocals (most prevalent on
'Back Door Man Of Ghost Rails Inn'), recalling the twisted psychedelics of
early Pink Floyd. Yet still, their sound remains so expansive that it is easy
to become totally immersed in this album. Epic in proportions, cloaked in a
cosmic haze and shimmering in a synth utopia. 'The Ripper At Heaven's Gates
Of Dark' maintains AMT's status as masters of out-of-this-world music and
reveals their darker side of the moon.

Repress! The early 1970s saw Horace due to political reasons move on to work
with producer Bunny Lee, a move that suited his talents and beliefs, Horace
being an early advocate to the Rastafarian faith.The tracks which he cut with
Bunny, which we concentrate on here gave his songs a rootsy feel. The rhythms
often cut at Channel ONE and Randys Studio17 and finalised at King Tubbys,
provided a fine backbone for Horace to recut some of his earlier classics,
along side his newer songs also to become reggae standards. Like Money Money,
Zion Gate the great You are my Angel and a version of The Heptones My Guiding
Star. The power of these recordings were such that the earlier tracks like
Skylarking became hits a second time around.Proving that the you cant keep a
good tune down mantra was alive and kicking. .A golden time for Horace and
Reggae music in general. Horace would go on to work with other producers like
Everton Da Silva in 1977 creating the In the Light album and the New York
based Lloyd Wackies Barnes in the 1980s for his Dancehall Style recordings.
Most recently his work with Massive Attack has brought his majestic voice
full circle and back into the arena once more. Those Massive recordings and
this dub collection here seem to fit side by side. Horaces distinctive vocal
riding over the rhythms adding a magic as only he can .....

In 2018, Blasphamagoatachrist was first summoned by the gods of war to
continue the siege that its members had separately waged previously in such
notorious hordes as Blasphemy, Goatpenis, and Antichrist (Can). With its

skepticism that may have arisen prematurely in response to the thought of
another black metal "supergroup" managing to bear the flame that
its members- main projects had first lit decades earlier.
Blasphamagoatachrist now triumphantly returns with its debut full-length,
"Bastardizing the Purity", which further solidifies this cult as an
entity of its own and one worthy of its members- collective pedigree. As the
demo did two years earlier, "Bastardizing the Purity" serves as a
present-day example of the ferocity with which early to mid 1990s bestial
black metal emasculated the more impotent varieties of output demonstrated by
most contemporaries.

NWN! is honored to present the first official release of a rarely heard 1989
rehearsal recording, Blood Upon the Soundspace. This crude open-air mic
recording captures the unvarnished vigor of Blasphemy in a way that the
contemporaneous studio recordings cannot. The rehearsal took place in
Blasphemy's practice space sometime following the release of the Blood Upon
the Altar demo as the Desecraters were writing material that would later
appear on the 1990 debut LP, Fallen Angel of Doom. Four of the five tracks
feature songs that would be recorded for the album, with "War
Command" being the only exception. The live performance of these tracks
in the band's rehearsal space is devastating and showcases a side of
Blasphemy that many have never previously heard.

Blues for Dracula is the debut album by American jazz drummer Philly Joe
Jones which was recorded in 1958 for the Riverside label. A former child tap
dancer, Philly Joe Jones was destined to become something of a percussionist.
As it was he became world renowned as the drummer of Miles Davis first great
quintet, serving as the rhythm and time keeper of that great outfit between
1955 and 1958. He left for a solo career in 1958. His debut became an instant
classic thanks to the title track (written by Johnny Griffin) and the
similarly themed cover. The song packs plenty of hard-charging swing and
blues/drenched improvisation from cornetist Nat Adderley, trombonist Julian
Priester, saxophonist Johnny Griffin, pianist Tommy Flanagan and bassist
Jimmy Garrison. But it's also a cheeky take on the horror-film craze of the
1950s, complete with a Bela Lugosi impersonator who intones with a thick
Transylvanian accent, "I'm the Bebop Vampire. I like the song the song
to shine!"Thereafter Philly Joe both led his own groups *he would record
a further twelve albums up to 1982( as well as performing as a sideman for a
wide variety of musicians including Bill Evans and Hank Mobley.

Repress! King Tubby in no uncertain terms invented DUB. Born Osbourne Ruddock
in Kingston in 1941. He grew up around High Holborn Street in central
Kingston,before moving to the Waterhouse district in 1955. His electronic
genius grew from working and fixing radios and t.v. sets, a natural
progression led to working with amplifiers,and starting his own sound
systemTubbys Home Town Hi- Fi. A very competitive game in the late 60s. You
were as good as the EXCLUSIVE records you played. Tubby discovered during his
time cutting discs for Duke Reids Treasure Isle set up, that by dropping
vocals / instruments in and out of the backing tracks, you could invent new
versions of existing old tunes. These early versions tried and tested on his
sound system went down so well that he invested in a four track mixing
console, that was being sold from Dynamic Studios in Kingston. With his vast
knowledge of electrics, he rewired the existing console with delay echo
effects, sliders and phasing units and so began King Tubbys Studio Of Dub at
18 Drummlie Avenue, Kingston 11, Jamaica...His Home... This is where all the
producers would bring their tracks for Tubby to put his magic over. Most
tracks that came out in Jamaica from here on in would carry a Version on its
B-side more than likely a Tubby dub. One of the producers who used him the
most was Bunny Striker Lee, whos labels Jackpot, Justice and Attack all
carried Tubbys mixes / versions on their flip sides. Our collection here, are
all taken from the original master tapes you might have have heard the tracks
before but not these versions.... Lost in the vaults till now. So sit back
and enjoy the dub master at work.

evolved from Lansing, Michigan-based band, Next Exit, which singer/songwriter
Duane King and his bassist brother Nick joined in 1968. The following year
the group became Magic and things stepped up a gear with the introduction of
lead guitarist Joey Murcia, a Miami native that was a session player for TK
Records. The band moved to Miami and became the first white act on TK, their
debut album released on their own Armadillo label. Returning to Michigan in
1970, Motown producer Scott Regan brought them onto the Rare Earth subsidiary
for this excellent self/titled LP, with none other than Stevie Wonder playing
piano on three tracks.

American punk rock. Known for their shocking name and the anarchist anthem
"Dead Porker" (included in 1982 within the Alternative Tentacles

last release during their brief career), they featured the late great Annelle
Zingarelli as one of the wildest female vocalist of Californian hardcore>
a hoarse screamer hunting like Siouxsie Sioux, piercing like Poly Styrene,
filthy as Lydia Lunch, poetical as Exene Cervenka. Their music, influenced by
peers such as Germs and Flipper, was a blend of savage rock'n'roll and darker
Black Sabbath-like doom marches. They shared the stage with kindred spirits
like Black Flag, Minor Threat and Circle Jerks and were a Jello Biafra
favorite. This Lp puts together the best tracks from their only demo (roughly
recorded in 1983 and never released due to the tragic passing of the 22 years
old Annelle), including a furious cover of Monkees' classic "Last Train
To Clarksville" and all the energy of this talented and unlucky band.

The Pigs were a Bristol-based punk rock band formed in 1977. In August that
year they recorded an EP, "Youthanasia", for the independent label
New Bristol Records. They were featured on bills with bands like Siouxsie and
the Banshees and their high/energy live shows generated positive reviews on
magazines such as Melody Maker. Unfortunately, the chance to open for the Sex
Pistols went up in smoke when the venue mysteriously burned down the night
before the gig. Nevertheless, the EP enabled the Pigs to play at famous
venues like Marquee and Roxy Club, often supporting The Cortinas. However,
disillusionment set in at the increasingly mainstream direction of the punk
movement, early in 1978, they split up. Now, after so many years, you can

bandleader and percussionist Willie Rosario was a giant of Latin music, known
as Senor Afinque or Mr. Tight for the strength of his musical arrangements.
Born in Coamo in 1930, Rosario had already formed the Coamex band, prior to his
emigration to New York in 1947, where he played in various orchestras,
forming his own band in Spanish Harlem in 1959 and also presenting a
Spanish-language music show on radio station WADO. Signing to Alegre in 1962,
he began touring widely, the label issuing this sought-after debut in 1963,
mixing covers and original, the hot salsa here features the dulcet tones of
lead singer, Frankie Figueroa.

Born in 1985 in Lachine, a borough of Montréal, Vensor emerged from the
fertile Québécois speed & thrash metal scene of the time that spawned its
patriarch, Voïvod, just four years earlier. This thirteen-song demo was one
of the most savage and evil examples of thrash metal to surface from the
Quebec scene of the time. If you are into early stage of SODOM, KREATOR and
so, this is for you.

VOOR - EVIL METAL
Despite their limited output and the untimely demise of the band, Voor have
been worshipped and revered by fans of evil Death & Speed Metal ever
since the tape trading days. While Voor began in roughly the same time and
place (early 1980's, Quebec), they never achieved the notoriety of their
comrades in Voivod (see Away's liner notes in this release). Instead,
although a European tour was in the works and numerous labels were
approaching the band based on the rabid interest generated by their demos,
their drummer quit unexpectedly and the band quickly dissolved. A quarter
century later, however, the remnants of this savage militia's violent rampage
still evoke the most unholy bloodlust. The first demo, released in 1985, was
a live rehearsal recording with no overdubs. The live nature of this demo
enhances the malicious effect of Voor's attack by accentuating the band's
steadfast reliance on primitive and sinister aggression as their morbid
trademark.
