Arima Soul ("Arima" means "Soul" in Basque language) is a
new musical project initially created by Lidia Insausti (vocals) and Mikel
Makala (bass), later joining Paul San Martin (keyboards) and Hilario Rodeiro
(drums). With a clear influence of Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Funk, Groove and
Jazz of the 70's, but also with an eye on contemporary Neo-Soul style. In
their live shows, in addition to playing their own songs sung in Basque, they
perform covers of some exponents of the genre such as Bill Withers, Etta
James, Curtis Mayfield, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Marie "Queenie"
Lyons. At the beginning of 2021, the band was nominated as "Best New
Group" in the "Enlace Funk 2020 Awards" in Madrid, Spain.

listener a horde of crushing, fuzzy, Iommi riffs while the mammoth bass tears
down everything in its path with its acid hooves. Its drums are thundering
unearthly beats of harrowing doom while its mesmerizing vocals will bewitch you
with their words of woe. Heavier and more diverse than its predecessor,

British psychedelic band Apple was formed in the industrial powerhouse of
Cardiff, north Wales, in 1968 by guitarist Robbo Ingram and bassist Jeff
Harrad. Joined by drummer Dave Brassington, keyboardist Charlie Barber and
singer Dennis Regan, their debut single "Thank U Very Much," arranged
by session guitarist Big Jim Sullivan, sparked the interest of Larry Page,
who signed them to his Page One label to cut the debut album An Apple A Day
with producer Caleb Quaye (the son of the multi instrumentalist Cab Quaye and
older brother of future singer Finley Quaye). Unfortunately, Apple's mixture
of pop, psychedelia and heavy blues was probably a bit too ahead of its
time< the album sold poorly on release and the group proba bly would have
been totally forgotten, if not for belated critical acclaim, especially for
Harrad's haunting "The Otherside." With rare originals incredibly
hard to find, regularly selling for thousands of pounds, this reissue is long
overdue.

Complete recordings from 1963 to 1969 by this legendary band from Glasgow.
Fabulous mod/beat, wild R^B and pop-psych, including all their 7" sides
for Decca and CBS plus early demos. Formed in Glasgow in 1962 during the
early beat boom by Alan Mair and Eddie Campbell, their line-up also included
Davie Lennox, Tudge' Williamson (replaced by Jeff Allen) and Ronnie Smith.
Playing an authentic brand of rhythm 'n' blues and soul covers, they soon
took the city by storm and were famous for their live shows, attracting
hordes of screaming girls and young fans. Between 1965 and 1969, The
Beatstalkers would go on to release a total of seven singles. All those sides are featured on this compilation.

Porcaro, father of the famed Toto brothers) and Gary Coleman (percussionist
in the famous Wrecking Crew), Blaine goes wild in the studio with drums,
gong, xylophone, organ, bongos, congas and timpani. Unusual textures and
tones lead the way to 12 instrumental exotic numbers similar in a way to
Raymond Scott most visionary experiments. This is pure madness, a record full
of breaks and still unsurpassed in many ways. Blaine was an American drummer
and session musician, estimated to be among the most recorded studio drummers
in the history of the music industry, claiming over 35,000 sessions and 6,000
singles. His drumming is featured on 150 US top 10 hits, 40 of which went to
number one, as well as many film and television soundtracks. He became one of
the regular players in Phil Spector-s de facto house band, which Blaine
nicknamed 'the Wrecking Crew'. Some of the records Blaine played on include
the Ronettes' single 'Be My Baby' (1963), which contained a drum beat that became
widely imitated, as well as works by popular artists such as Frank Sinatra,
Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys, Simon ^ Garfunkel, the Carpenters, Neil
Diamond and the Byrds.

Formed in 1978, Bomis Prendin is a collective of experimental 'noisicians'
from Washington DC, pioneers within the DIY, industrial, cassette culture and
experimental electronics scene. Using cassette recorders, mutated musical
toys, electric guitars, bass, rewired circuitry, analog pedal effects and
cheap keyboards, they recorded and released a couple of astounding
flexi-discs ('Test' and 'Phantom Limb') in the late '70s, which led to them
being included on the infamous Nurse With Wound list. 'Clear Memory' was
originally released in 1984 only on cassette (50 copies) and it's an
incredible example of DIY mutant psychedelic pop and homemade electronic

Cal / also known as "Cal Rock^Roll" / was a band formed in the
mid/70s in New York by some veteran musicians from the club scene> Larry
Calabrese on guitar ^ vocals, Andy Barone on bass, Jerry Joly on drums &
vocals and Jeffrey Gaer on keyboards. Famous for their powerful live shows -
one of their stellar moments was opening for Leslie West ^ Mountain / , Cal
secured a faithful fan base, especially among the biker crowd. In 1980, they
recorded their only album> "Homegrown". As the title suggests,
it was self/produced by the band and recorded by Larry at his 8/track home
studio. But unlike other similar private albums, there's nothing amateur
here. This is a perfectly recorded ^ played effort, featuring well crafted
songs. There's lot of loud distorted guitar, Hammond, analogue synths and
some Doors influence on the vocals, especially on the lysergic
"Couragous Cat". "Homegrown" was released in 1982 in a
edition of 2000 copies, most of which were discarded due to pressing faults.
Also, the album mastered at lower speed. Soon after, Larry met Todd Rundgren
at a recording studio and he expressed interest in the band and some of their
songs. Famous record label Sugarhill were also interested in adding Cal to
their roster but nothing came of it in the end. So "Homegrown"
vanished into obscurity until some original copies were discovered by psych
dealers and collectors in the 90s.

Cykle was formed in 1968, North Carolina, when gifted musician and songwriter
Jimmy Sossamon (previously in famous local band The Young Ones) heard a local
group, the Glory Cykle. He was so impressed that he approached them about
becoming their manager. The band // guitarists Ralph Stevens and Jeff Hardin,
bassist Grady Pope, organist Rick Wilson, and drummer&vocalist Ken Allen
// practiced at the studio Sossamon had built in his parent-s garage, and by
the end of the year, Sossamon took up the drummer's seat to free up Allen as
lead vocalist. Band's name was shortened to Cykle and in early 1969 they
began recording an album consisting entirely of Sossamon originals. The
resultant eponymous LP was released later that year as a private pressing of
500 copies on the band's own Label Records. But despite the 1969 release
date, "Cykle" sounds straight from the 1966/67
garage/punk/psychedelic book.

BACK IN PRINT! Fapardokly is probably regarded as the most important release
in Merrell Fankhauser's long career, and an absolute collectors item. The
band recorded about 30 tracks in a small studio in Palmdale, California, from
1965 to 1967, when the owner of the studio decided to release an album with
some of these tracks. With such different recording dates, you find here
different sounds... organized '60s pop, jangly folk-rock, psychedelia. Comes
with an insert featuring photo from Merrell's personal archive, and
linernotes by him as well.

Originally released in 1970, 'For Fox Sake' is a superb example of UK psych,
recommended for fans of Apple, Koobas, Zombies and Octopus. This is the first
ever vinyl reissue with original UK artwork. Remastered audio, comes with
insert including photos and memorabilia plus liner notes by band member Steve
Brayne. During their brief existence they supported The Herd and opened for
David Bowie. Their sound was loud and righteous with great vocal harmonies,
tight rhythm section and wonderful keyboard and guitar solos. After getting
signed to a London management, they recorded their only LP in one session and
they had it released in the UK on the Fontana label and in the USA on
Crewe. Shortly after the release, the band
split up.

20 years on and Out Of The First Rays is still as powerful today. As the band
rip straight into "Head On" it's clear that Josiah wanted to take
heavy rock back to it's opiate drenched roots. Psychedelic lyrics sung with
soul and the heavy as fuck grooves laid down across this release owe a debt
to Black Sabbath and Monster Magnet. "Malpaso" quickly became the
bands signature track (featuring on film soundtracks and TV shows) with its
pulsating riffs and trippy middle section and "Spacequake" makes
you start to think there must be something in the midlands water supply, as
Bethancourt echoes Ozzy with "come take my hand my child" and the
Iommi styled guitar hooks kick you straight in the gut. "Sweet
Smoke" kicks off side B with its Cactus meets Grand Funk early 70's rock
vibes. The sonic interplay between the power trio, back the vocals up for
this anthem to a burning earth, "Let the flames just take you
higher". The 10 minute closer "Black Maria" with its
psychedelic twin vocals and one of the heaviest riffs you'll hear this side
of dead, gives way to uptempo bass grooves and a wah drenched lead break.
Take another sip of the electric kool-aid baby, before we "slide down
the cosmos" and fall into the big black sleep.

1967/68 but not widely released until 1972. Formed in California in 1967,
Lite Storm was the first incarnation of spiritual seekers Johnima &
Kalassu Wintergate. A pioneering psychedelic band, Lite Storm played at all
the hip Sunset Strip clubs, they became friends with Kali Bahlu and the band
travelled to the far east, touring in Vietnam in 1970. 'Warning' was recorded
at a four-track studio in 1967-68, first released as a small pressing before
being licensed for a proper release. This is the first ever vinyl reissue and
it includes a download card.

Famous for their 'Psychedelic Illusion' 7", US garage-psych band One Of
Hours formed in 1966. After adding guitar player Bob Willcutt to their
line-up, they released their second 7", 'Feel The Pain'/'Psychedelic
Illusio', in 1967. Work then began on their album 'When You Hear The Music,
It's Yours'. Fuelled by the creative force of band member Shawn Foreman (who
would create the cult electro/disco project Transistor-Jet in the '80s), the
group renamed to Dandelion Wine, went in true psychedelic mode, experimenting
with unusual recording techniques. Comes

who left behind a set of 10" acetates, collected here for the first

plus three terrific cover versions of 'I Can't Explain' (The Who), 'Let's
Live For Toda'- (Rokes/Grass Roots) and the aforementioned 'Tobbaco Road'
(based on the Blues Magoos cover but including an extended crazed
theremin&drum freak out!). Recommended if you like The Bachs, Blues

became an unprecedented success in Peru, after its premiere in 2019, turning
into the most-watched Peruvian documentary of all time. The soundtrack was
made by Santiago Pillado-Matheu, who develops a musical universe based on the
use of Andean sounds, in evocative landscape pieces of melodic and
ritualistic ambient and drone music. Having acclaimed Peruvian soundtracks
such as "Cholo", by El Polen, or "Venas de la Tierra" by
Luis David Aguilar-both released by Buh Records - as a precedent, adds a new
item to a series that seeks to disseminate milestones of film music made in

PROMISE - PROMISE
If youre continuously searching the margins for lost artifacts of the pop
pantheon, you can find your daily dose in late period exponents of pure,
lean, Beatlesque early 70s power pop, Promise. Originally issued in 1980 on
the Boulder, Colorado, area bands own Cumulus label, their eponymous debut is
filled with melodic, beatific blasts of pure pop, replete with ringing,
jangly guitars, and rollicking crunch. Co-led by
singer-songwriters/guitarists Curt Mangan and Danny Mey-with aid provided by
the just right rhythms of bassist Randy Jones and drummer Gary York-the group
created an album with precious little allying it to the punk-inspired power
pop or prescient "New Wave" of the time, instead choosing to hone
in on a classicist pop sound highly indebted to those famous moptops from
Liverpool. Abetted by the fact some of the groups members had been playing
together since their teenage combos of the mid-60s the album carries an
"out of time" flair across surging rockers and mournful balladry.
Got Kinda Lost Records is ecstatic to give this benchmark of

Ultra-rare recordings by '70s UK avant-rockers Red Square, the missing link
between original free-noise practitioners like AMM, Nihilist Spasm Band and

the Dead C. Red Square was a pioneering free-improv, avant-rock band. The
band bridged the worlds of psychedelic rock, noise and avant-jazz. Pre-dating
Sonic Youth by seven years and Last Exit by a decade, Red Square's railing
aural assaults were once considered too extreme for commercial release. Now
'Rare And Lost 70s Recordings' includes a complete never-before-heard heavy
studio session from 1978 plus a thunderous live set opening for fellow
"rock in opposition" mavens Henry Cow, recorded with perfect sound
quality in 1976. The sound was remastered by original member Jon Seagroatt
(currently with '70s pagan-folk gods Comus and Current 93) and you also get

Needless to remark the importance of Max Roach in the evolution of modern
Jazz drumming. Let's just say that back In the mid Forties the young Roach
has performed in most of Charlie Parker's recordings including the legendary
Savoy sessions, a crucial step in the history of Jazz recording. Recorded in
NY between 1957 and 1958 and originally released on Emarcy label this is
Roach's first official tribute to Charlie Parker. This is also Roach's first
pianoless group, a formula which will become a trademark in his later career.
Here Roach displays a strong line up featuring Kenny Dorham on trumpet,
George Coleman or Hank Mobley on tenor sax, and Nelson Boyd or George Marrow

litually 100's of sides of music, was a relatively short one of just over two
years. We have delved into the vaults of Wirl Records and have selected some
tunes that show the dexterity of the band and what great sounds this group of
musicians were capable of producing and the high quality they maintained.
They recorded before they were named as a collective The Skatalites, when
personal and financial problems became an issue the band split into two
halves. Jackie Mittoo and Roland Alfonso going on to form The Soul Brothers
band for Coxsone Dodd. Tommy McCook moving over to work with Duke Reid as
musical director. Sadly Don Drummond suffering for years from depression
would see his career cut short ending in Belle Vue hospital in 1969.

Excellent dual guitars, keyboards, melodic vocals, West Coast touches.Think
Allman Brothers, early ZZ Top, Wishbone Ash, Homer...Top notch pro/sounding
recording and superb musicianship. "Jungle Lady" saw the light in
two different pressings> the original white label LIPS vinyl from 1974 is
the first pressing, and the red LIPS label is a remix done later in
Nashville, possibly around 1975. This Out/sider reissue is taken from the
remix version, as it was always believed to be "hotter" than the
original pressing. One of the classics since the early days or rare psych
records lists, championed by influential tastemakers such as Paul Major.

Hereby a classic japanese acid folk tale, also credited by the wizard master
Julian Cope in his aprocksampler' top 50 list. Tokedashita Garasu Bako, or
Melting Glass Box, was a studio-only project of Nishiokai Takashi (Itsutsu No
Akai Fusen), "Singing Philosopher" Tetsuo Saito and Takasuke Kida
(of influential psychedelic freaks Jacks). Guest musicians included Kazuhiko
Kato (Folk Crusaders, Sadistic Mika Band), Kazuo Takeda (Blues Creation) and
mastermind Haruomi Hosono (Apryl Fool, Happy End, YMO). Their sole release
licensed in 1970 on URC (Japanese independent record label specializing in
folk, co-founded in February 1969 by Hayakawa Yoshio, guitarist for the
psychedelic band Jacks) became soon after a cult record leading the way for
the eastern psychedelic renaissance. An authentic lysergic trip filled with
mind-blowing electric guitar leads and many studio tricks thrown in! Get lost, now or never !

TREE PEOPLE - HUMAN VOICES
Watch out for this rarity. You know the Tree People, late 70s predecessors of
the ongoing new folk movement in the USA. You know their 1979 debut album and
you know it's a masterpiece... but oh well, did you know about their second
album??? Surely not, especially because it was a cassette only release at the
time with a very short print. Luckily enough, the Tree People guys kept the
mastertapes of these recordings and we're proud to be making this wonderful
music available now. After the CD version released last month, here's the
vinyl also with splendid sound quality. The music here is equally as good, if
not better, than the self-titled debut and a real must for any folk and
psych-folk lover. Acoustic guitars, subtile percussions, wonderful flute work
and some warm vocals, but overall a real big dose of quality and originality
that makes the Tree People music be absolutely ahead of its time and
therefore so much admired today. A real beauty! Comes with an insert
including liners by the band's leader Stephen Cohen, as well as some
pictures.

A great mix of zouk, Afro-funk and boogie from the Ivory Coast, originally
released in 1983. The album has four long tracks, including the massive
Afro-disco-boogie 'Africa Mawa'. 'Sensible' was recorded in Abidjan, Ivory
Coast, after Denis Tshibayi was requested to play live there. The album was
originally released first as a small private pressing in the Ivory Coast and
later in France on the Tangent label. During that time, Denis Thsibayi also
recorded for Earthwork/Rough Trade and in the following decades he recorded
with Adrian Sherwood (On-U Sound Records). Includes insert with liner notes and download card.

STUDDED CADILLACS
Back in stock! Complete recordings (1969-1974) of legendary US Acid-Punk
band, famous for appearing on the seminal psych compilation "Endless
Journey" back in the 80s. But Unsettled Society were a total mystery
until now. The band came from the New York suburbs and were famous locally
for their powerful stage shows, full of strobe and psychedelic flashing
lights. In 1969 they released their first 45 for the Charm Label: "17
Diamond Studded Cadillacs", which is pure acid-psych, lo-fi basement
insanity. It was coupled with "Passion Seeds", a killer moody,
atmospheric psych ballad. Between 1972 and 1974 they released two more 45s in
a fantastic heavy psych vein, the last one recorded under the Thunder Head
name. All of them are included here with sound taken from the original tapes.

In 1976, U Roy was the new attraction in Jamaican music. With his first hit
Wake the Town six years earlier, he had imposed a new style on the Kingston
sound systems, which consisted of taking up local hits by speaking in 'voice
over' around the choruses. That year he took on the Wailers' Soul Rebel,
which he transformed into the Natty Rebel, which would become his absolute
hit until today. Fifty years later, U Roy, who is approaching 80, delivers an
entire album around the Wailers discography. A project initiated by the
American producer Gary Himelfarb under the alias Doctor Dread, who arrived in
Jamaica in 1977 and who signed the biggest names of the time on his label RAS
Records, from Black Uhuru to Jimmy Cliff via Bunny Wailer, Inner Circle or
Gregory Isaacs.In the fold of Sanctuary Records, which also owns reggae
reissue giant Trojan Records, Doctor Dread obtained permission to use the
Wailers tracks recorded by Lee Perry in the early 1970s. He then locked
himself in a Kingston studio with U Roy, who recorded 14 songs in four hours
(!), Freestyled as in the great times. Bunny Wailer, the last survivor of the
original trio, was also present to witness this historic session, which pits
two icons of Jamaican reggae from the '70s against each other.
