Trabajo y Vigilancia 3:30 | | | | 8435698700017 SOMETIMES MUSIC | Reissue of the debut album of the band Raíces on black vinyl. Recorded at the TAKE 1 studios in Buenos Aires in the winter of 1978, the album was produced by Mario Breuer, who has produced albums by the greatest Argentine and Latin American rock artists of the last half century. The period that began in the late 70s and continued throughout the following decade was a time of unique creativity for Argentine rock. Early figures of the movement, such as Luis Alberto Spinetta and Charly García, gave their careers a new impulse and took their music in new directions, while a new generation of artists, including Virus and Los Violadores, incorporated new sounds and satirical and corrosive lyrics related to the emergence of punk and new wave, which had taken the international music scene by storm. This renewal had many other nuances, and in this sense Raíces' proposal should be appreciated in its proper dimension. In the 21st century, nobody is surprised by the close ties between Argentinean and Uruguayan musicians on the Río de la Plata and the peculiar fusion of rock with folklore elements from both countries: candombe, murga, tango and milonga sound perfectly familiar to rock fans on both sides of the River Plate, the "lion-coloured river". But every bold proposal has a beginning, and just as El Kinto, Tótem y Opa in Uruguay and Arco Iris in Argentina were pioneers in becoming aware of this folkloric heritage, thanks to visionaries such as Eduardo Mateo, Rubén Rada, the brothers Hugo and Osvaldo Fattorusso and Gustavo Santaolalla, the band Raíces, founded in 1977 by the Uruguayan bassist, guitarist, percussionist, composer and singer Luis Alberto "Beto" Satragni, was fundamental in the expansion of this fusion of rock and candombe. | | | | | Before they were THE DWARVES, these Highland Park misfits tore through the '80s as SUBURBAN NIGHTMARE, unleashing A Hard Day's Nightmare-a raw garage-punk blast now reissued on vinyl (only 500 copies!). Their chaos began with fuzzed-out riffs, snotty vocals, and a high school expulsion for staging a nude art stunt. More than an adolescent punk relic, this album is the blueprint of a band bound for cult status. Soon after, they became THE DWARVES, moved to San Francisco, and never looked back. Raw, wild, and real-grab this limited reissue before it's gone! NUEVAS ENTRADAS - LP (Album) | | Psychedelic hard-rock Holy Grail, originally released by this Greek band in 1976 but sounding more akin to late '60s/early '70s. Highly recommended to fans of HEAVY-FUZZ guitars, think Dark, Fire, Open Mind or even Spacemen 3 circa 'Revolution'! The 4 Levels Of Existence formed around 1974 in Athens from the ashes of a band called Frog's Eyes. Some of their influences were groups like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Who or Iron Butterfly as well as traditional Greek music. They recorded their sole album in just 10 hours with no overdubs and it was eventually released (500 copies only) on the small Venus label. The cover artwork was created by guitar player Athanasios Alatas. The band sadly split soon after but they left behind one of the most legendary and sought after albums not only from Greece but also from the worldwide heavy-prog scene. Remastered sound. Original artwork in hard cardboard sleeve + obi. Insert with liner notes by Klemen Breznikar (It's Psychedelic Baby) and rare photos/memorabilia. Includes 'Someday In Athens,' sampled on 'Run This Town' by Jay-Z feat. Rihanna and Kanye West. | | | | | Back in stock! As described in 2002, the music has the furious beat and driving buzz saw guitars of classic punk rock, but when a vocal chorus cuts in,it is surprisingly harmonious and emotionally evocative, reminiscent of The Beatles or The Everly Brothers. This is a sonic contradiction that works to stunning effect. It is also a sound that has come to define one of the world's most original rock bands, Bad Religion. | | | | 4729421589272 BUH RECORDS | Primera Secuencia by Ballet Mecánico fuses synthpop, Hi-NRG, Italo disco, and techno pop, creating a nostalgic yet futuristic sonic journey. Numbered-Jorge Ben's 1963 debut, Samba Esquema Novo, introduced his infectious blend of bossa nova and samba, propelled by the timeless Mas Que Nada and Chove Chuva. While his later sound leaned more into rock and Afro-Brazilian rhythms, this album bursts with swirling melodies, rich harmonies, and big-band energy, all anchored by Ben's distinctive, minor-key guitar work. A vibrant, era-defining classic. | | | | | Repress! Not the band's first album - as you might think from the "start" in the title - but a classic batch of jazzy, funky, and soulful grooves from The Blackbyrds - one of those combos that few groups could match back in the 70s! The set's got a beautifully put-together feel - tight enough to crossover somewhat big with a larger audience than the group's previous effort - but still filled with the kind of righteous energy that first got them going, a sublime mix of jazzy rhythms and soulful elements, all held together tightly by production from Donald Byrd. | | | | | Active between 1970 and 1976, The Bolton Iron Maiden (originally known as Birth and then Iron Maiden) was a psychedelic hard-rock band formed in Bolton by Ian Boulton-Smith (Beak) on lead guitar, Derek George Austin on bass and Paul TJ O'Neill on drums/vocals. Influenced by contemporaries like Led Zeppelin, Cream, Free, Groundhogs or Andromeda, their music blended blues, hard rock, and progressive elements. They soon built a strong reputation supporting acts such as UFO, Bedlam (with Cozy Powell), Caravan, Thin Lizzy... In 1976, the band disbanded following the death of guitarist Ian Boulton-Smith from cancer. In 2005, Paul O'Neill revived interest in BIM by releasing two albums, 'Maiden Flight' and 'Boulton Rides Again,' which compiled studio and live recordings. The proceeds from these albums were donated to Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support. With the blessing of the more famous Iron Maiden and their manager Rod Smallwood, the band adopted the name The Bolton Iron Maiden to avoid confusion. For the first time on vinyl, 'Maiden Flight' collects their previously unreleased studio recordings from 1972 plus raw as f*ck live tracks circa 1975. Insert with detailed liner notes and rare photos/memorabilia. Download card with extra (live) bonus tracks. | | | | 0727252774601 DIAMOND WEST | The Budos Band VII is the seventh album from one of America's most enduring soul groups. För fans av: Jimi Hendrix, Aaron Turner, Keiji Haino. Vinyl LP + CD. | | | | | Back in stock !!!The Cramps waited four years after their top-notch A Date with Elvis before releasing their next studio album. The result is, unfortunately, one of the weakest platters in their canon. Most all the songs here follow the same rockabilly-based formula of previous releases; unfortunately, much of the group's usual fire is missing. Too many of the selections (such as "Daisys Up Your Butterfly," "Everything Goes," "All Women Are Bad," and a cover of "Muleskinner Blues") are cast in a moderate jogging tempo, and the instrumental playing shows minimal song-to-song contrast, lacking the manic craziness of their best work. Lux Interior's vocals are comparatively reserved (though there are some exceptions, such as the snarling cover of "Shortnin' Bread") and are often somewhat submerged in the sound mix. Lyrics, too, are a bit tame by Cramps standards, the major exception being "Mama Oo Pow Pow," which has gleefully tacky verses about spanking and discipline that rival their most tasteless. "God Damned Rock 'N' Roll" is, for all practical purposes, a middling parody of Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll." The biggest surprise is the atypically soaring vocal on the better-than-average song "Journey to the Center of a Girl." | | | | | Repress!!! A facsimile of the original album release. Originally released in 1980, The Black Album represented a significant expansion of their sound and style. The Capt, Rat and Dave are joined by Paul Gray on bass. Live side recorded - with no overdubs whatsoever! - in front of the Damned Fan Club. | | | | | Reissued with re-newed sleeve artwork! HELLUCIFERNATION is DAG's 6th album from 1999 and truly one of their best releases! The album includes fantastic tracks like Strangler in Paradise, Reptile Queen, What's The Problem and the single track Daddy's Making Monsters! This is bizarre Psychobilly at it's VERY best! | | | | 4059251702238 SUNNY BASTARDS | Hellbilly is back! Be prepared for the long awaited, new DEMENTED ARE GO album "Psychotic Mutilation"! 39 years after their debut full length and 13 years after last album "Welcome Back To Insanity Hall" one of the most famous (and one may say most notorious) original Psychobilly legends still around returns. Led by the charismatic and exceptional original founder Mark "Sparky" Philips, the gang releases a dozen new songs, or maybe there are 13? Ever since DAG don't give a shit about the so-called old-school Psychobilly-purism: their sound is still special, combining a unique style with elements from Rockabilly, Punk, hellish Rock'n'Roll up to countryesque moods and dark Blues, all trademarked with Sparky's graveled venom dripping vocals. And as a very special guest Emanuela Hutter from The Hillbilly Moon Explosion again performs a duet with Sparky on "Cast A Lonesome Shadow". A wild and weird musical journey thru human abysses, madness, and dark desires. "Psychotic Mutilation" with songs this sick world is deserving. Simply a masterpiece!! | | | | | Retrospective of British mod/freakbeat/pop-art heroes The Eyes including all their cult classic 45s ('When The Night Falls,' 'I'm Rowed Out,' 'My Degeneration'...) plus cool rare tracks sourced from demos and acetates. Formed in London in 1964, The Eyes took the early feedback experiments and pop art image of bands like the Who one step further. The band wore dyed parkas in various pastel colours and brightly coloured rugby shirts with huge eye symbols on the chest. Their raw, energetic sound and distinctive style combined aggressive, fuzz-driven guitar riffs with catchy melodies and a youthful defiance that captured the energy of the London mod scene. Their music bridged rawness freakbeat with the emerging psychedelic sound that would dominate the latter half of the decade. Tracks like the feedback-laden 'When The Night Falls' or the fuzzed-out 'You're Too Much' sounded years ahead of its time and they would influence the mod, garage revival and indie/shoegaze scene of the following decades. The Eyes only released a handful of singles between 1965 and 1966. They disbanded in 1967 and unfortunately they never released a full album during their short lifespan. Here it is! Remastered sound. Eight-page color insert with liner notes by Paul "Smiler" Anderson and rare photos/memorabilia. Download card. | | | | | Girls At Our Best! were one of the greatest and most influential bands to emerge in the early 1980s as part of a new wave of independent acts. DJ John Peel championed them, playing their singles repeatedly and inviting them to record a session for his programme. Wry vocalist Judy Evans and brutal yet melodic guitarist James Alan who'd met at art college in Leeds fronted Girls At Our Best!, the proto-Indie band that formed from the ashes of Alan's 1977 punk band SOS! Pleasure, the sole album, reached number two in the Indie Chart. It was an album so different from the rest of the post-punk indie pack that you can still play it now and completely baffle new listeners. As John Peel said about Roxy Music, it just doesn't seem to relate to anything else. | | | | | Back in stock! The albums Hayes made for Stax's Enterprise label remain the benchmark in ymphonic soul', and sound as breathtakingly brilliant as they did when they were new releases. As well as being one of a small group of artists who expanded the growth of the soul albums market, Ike was a consistently successful singles artist, who placed 16 consecutive 45s on the R&B chart between 1969 and 1976 - most of which also crossed over to pop. Extensively annotated, handsomely illustrated and coming to you in a package that an artist of Ike's stature thoroughly deserves. | | | | | Official reissue of this sought-after Canadian psychedelic hard-rock album from 1970. Formed in Toronto in the late '60s, It's All Meat (the name was taken from a dog food commercial!) soon caught the attention of influential character Jack London (frontman of pre-Steppenwolf band Jack London and the Sparrows) who managed the band and secured a deal with major label Columbia Records. After recording their first 45, the proto-punk MC5/Stones sounding 'Feel It,' the band started working on their first album with the tandem of Jed MacKay and Rick McKim as main songwriters. 'It's All Meat' was released in 1970 and offered a powerful mix of garage-rock, psychedelia and early hard-rock, drawing influences from bands like the Stones, Country Joe & The Fish, Doors, Velvet Underground... tracks like 'Roll My Own' or the lysergic 'Crying Into The Deep Lake' are now considered classics of the genre. Sadly, the band would split soon after the LP was released. Original artwork in gatefold sleeve. Remastered sound in 24-bit domain. Despite claiming to be out of practice, Jobim's sparse, single-hand piano style lets his flowing melodies shine. Claus Ogerman's signature arrangements-airy flutes, brooding strings, and lush harmonies-enhance timeless gems like Desafinado, Corcovado, The Girl from Ipanema, and One Note Samba. A defining moment in bossa nova's global ascent. | | | | | Madrid's most beloved hard-drinking punk rock band, KLOBBER, is back with a brand-new album, "A Rope for You." 10 new songs will delight fans of English punk like SLAUGHTER AND THE DOGS, THE DAMNED, THE RUTS, THE CLASH, COCKNEY REJECTS... and American punk bands like BLACK FLAG, GERMS, ZERO BOYS, or REAGAN YOUTH. Produced by multi instrumentalist Adeniyi "Biddy" Wright, the six-song LP is a low-slung affair, awash in dreamy psychedelic guitar, crisp hi-hat shuffles, and telepathic harmony vocals from twins Taiwo and Kehinde. This 2025 remaster is housed in a deluxe tip-on jacket and in cludes lyrics in both Yorurban and English. Danger, danger, danger please come on back. | | | | 0825764165310 NUMERO GROUP | Back in stock! As close familial and genre relations to Fela Kuti, The Lijadu Sisters often produced an even mightier and alternate jam to their cousin and icon of the genre. Horizon Unlimited, released in 1979, shows just how far they differed from Fela, with beautiful harmonies and delirious afro-funk grooves inspired by the halcyon days of disco. | | | | | Repress! "Cosmic Funk" was more of a straight jazz album than might have been expected at the time - particularly for one with "Funk" in its title. Lonnie would never really go down that route, although his next release would include one of the most successful of all jazz funk dancers. Lonnie Liston Smith regards "Cosmic Funk", his second album as a leader, as a transitional release: "Before recording this album, I was still playing with Miles Davis. You can hear some Miles influence. On the following album, "Expansions", I really discovered the Lonnie Liston Smith "cosmic" sound." | | | | 5020422062917 DAMAGED GOODS | Garage-rockers The Milkshakes had already made three albums featuring the vocals of Billy Childish and Mickey Hampshire when in 1983 they made Milkshakes IV: The Men With The Golden Guitars, their first all-instrumental album. Their work aligns with the tradition of sound explorers like Arturo Ruiz del Pozo and Yaki Kandru. El tiempo quiere cantar does not seek to reconstruct lost sounds but rather to document and expand the capabilities of these instruments. Patti Smith released some good albums, but any serious fan of hers will tell you that she performed most of her material better live. There are a number of fine Patti Smith bootlegs, but this one -- taken from a January 1976 show at the Roxy in Los Angeles, with near-perfect fidelity -- is both her best and her best-known. Besides incendiary versions of several songs from her first few LPs, it features covers of "Louie Louie," "My Generation" (with John Cale guesting), and The Velvet Underground's "We're Gonna Have a Good Time Together" and "Pale Blue Eyes," as well as entertaining between-song raps and even a brief cameo by Iggy Pop. It's no exaggeration to claim that this may be her best album, and one of the best '70s punk/new wave albums of all. | | | | 0825764182416 NUMERO GROUP | Founded by Malian guitar wizard Zani Diabaté in Bamako in the late sixties, Super Djata Band released their second album Authentique Vol. 2 Feu Vert in 1981. In the 60s, he established himself as a songwriter, producer and arranger for a number of labels and generated hits like `Working In The Coal Mine' for Lee Dorsey that got to #8 in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966. Other classic tracks that Toussaint either wrote, produced or arranged included `Fortune Teller', Lipstick Traces' and `Ooh Poo Pah Do' It was only in 1970 that he found time to record another solo album, aptly entitled "Toussaint". As well as serving up his own version Of `Working In The Coal Mine', Toussaint recorded other originals like `From A Whisper To A Scream' and `Everything I Do Is Gonna Be Funky'. There were also four instrumental tracks - `Pickles', `Louie', `Either' and a sublime version of `Cast Your Fate To The Wind' listed as `Allen Toussaint at the piano'. The original version of Toussaint was released in 1970 on Scepter records and is now hailed as a soulful classic. Ace were delighted to first reissue it in 1985 as "From A Whisper To A Scream" with the addition of a bonus track and with a slightly different running order. The set's got a slightly different vibe than some of the others in the series - maybe in part because a lot of the tracks were never issued at the time - so that the collection isn't about the kinds of cuts that collectors pay thousands for - it's about lots of tracks that collectors couldn't even get their hands on until now!
