MORE POSSUM
"Eat More Possum" is Antiseen's most acclaimed album, originally
released in 1993 and row remastered for this vinyl reissue. ANTISEEN is an
American punk rock band formed in Charlotte, North Carolina by Jeff Clayton
and Joe Young in 1983. The name "Antiseen" serves as a deliberate
deviation of the phrase "anti-scene" - the group not wishing to
adhere to standard perceptions of punk rock in specific and rock music in
general. Musically, Antiseen is influenced by groups such as the Ramones and
Stooges, employing short, heavily distorted power chord-driven songs largely
free of guitar solos or advanced musicianship. The band has a catalogue of
over 100 LPs, EPs, CDs and DVDs recorded with various line-ups and have
performed all over the world. Years after crawling from the primordial ooze
of rural North Carolina, Antiseen proceed to bulldoze through the nineties
with one quality release after another. Eat More Possum is one of the
greatest specimens of gun totin', meat eatin', society rejectin' punk rock
the Young & Clayton posse ever laid to wax. Young's guitar tone is
particularly grinding, heartwarming like steel cutting machinery buzzing in
your ear, capped by Jeff Clayton's trademark ursine raving. Speedballs like
"Star Whore" and "Storm Trooper" are like chopper
territory fights set to music, while anthropological studies on southern
attitudes like "Trapped in Dixie" offer miles of perspective to the
unfamiliar. The vegetarian torturing anthem "Animals (Eat 'em)" may
be the tastiest nugget in this pannikin of dixie nihilism, and the boys nail
one hell of a Ramones cover along the way. This is an absolute must for fans

THE MEANIES cult classic and long out of print 'Come'n'See' album -
remastered & repackaged on LP via Bang! Records! Australia's seminal
punk-rock champs The Meanies are diving back into the vaults to re-master and
re-issue this classic early release on vinyl. Forming in 1989, The Meanies' catchy-as-hell,
buzz-saw style of punk rock and a reputation for blistering and often
dangerous live shows quickly gained a cult following across Australia. After
releasing several sold-out 7"s via influential Melbourne indie label Au
Go Go. From November 1990 to March 1991 they released a run of EPs and
singles, as limited edition 7" vinyl discs. Most of their material was
written by Lindsay "Link Meanie" McLennan. They toured Australia,
including appearances at Big Day Out festivals in 1992, 1993 and 1994. They
supported local gigs by international artists from 1992, Nirvana, Redd Kross,
Beastie Boys, Pearl Jam and Bad Brains. Their debut studio album,
'Come'n'See', appeared in April 1992, which was produced by Michael 'Ded'
Kennedy and the Meanies. A PBS reviewer described how they had established
themselves as one of Australia's pre-eminent underground rock bands through
cultivating a huge all-age following and upsetting the rock establishment by
breaking attendance records in the nation's capital cities. In 1993 The
Meanies toured Europe and the United States. While in the US they travelled
to Seattle to record their second studio album with Conrad Uno producing.

African/American punk band. The band was a huge influence on Bad Brains,

The story of northern English band Blitz follows something of an unusual
trajectory. Formed in the small industrial town of New Mills in Derbyshire
(once known for coal mines, cotton mills and calico bleaching), Blitz began
as a hardcore concern, their first two albums considered classics of the
treet punk' and Oi subgenres of the early 1980s, but third album Second
Empire Justice shifted their sound in a totally unexpected post/punk&new
wave direction, with intricate arrangements, greater musical complexity and a
generally softer style. Unfortunately for the group, the album was a
commercial failure that spelled their ultimate demise, yet just as the band
bit the dust, bassist Neil McLennan and guitarist Nidge Miller formed Rose of
Victory with drummer Gary Bowler and engineer Nigel Beverley on vocals,
cutting a one/off version of Bowie's Suffragette City, coupled with an
equally intriguing Miller instrumental on the flip. Rose of Victory never
lasted beyond this initial offering, however, leaving the single a unique
memento of their faltering creativity.

C.B.F. (CONTROLLED BY FEAR, pre-RUPTURE) formed in late 1988 with Andrew (Gus
Chamber) on vocals, Matt (Stumblefuck) on guitar, Neal on bass and Matt on
drums. The band lastet barely more than a year but played many gigs in Perth,
Western Australia and were headlining shows towards the end of their
short-lived career. Talentless amateur young Punk musicians, aged from 16 to
20, influenced by all sorts of bands from DOOM, G-ANX, FEAR OF GOD to
CONFLICT started CONTROLLED BY FEAR, within time the band members'musical
skills improved and the interest of some band members changed, CONTROLLED BY
FEAR splitted up and bands like FAT LIP, NAILED DOWN, CUCHULAINN POWERHEAD
and RUPTURE were formed. CONTROLLED BY FEAR played harsh, fast and raw
Eighties Hardcore, Punk, sometimes reminding of later RUPTURE, but more
chaotic and less under controll, over all it's total Noise that will attract
the hearing impaired from all over the world.

Few locales on Earth are as integral to the development of black death metal
than Brazil. A breeding ground of extreme 80s deathcore, the classic
Brazilian bands arguably laid the groundwork for the second wave of black
metal, and in doing so helped to introduce this infamous genre to the masses.
GENOCIDIO, formed in 1986 in Sao Paolo, provide a textbook example of power
and intensity that became synonymous with Brazilian black metal. THE GRAVE
compiles their obscure 1988 EP with several bonus live tracks and demos.
Maniacal speed and thematic mayhem are on display here, each track driven by
the fury of pure psychic id. Parallels can be drawn to SEXTRASH, VULCANO, and
SARCOFAGO, but GENOCIDIO manage to harness this brand of Brazilian chaos with
exceptionally tight riffing and a penchant for heavy, guttural violence.
Composed in an era before black and death metal became subjects of sectarian
metal enmity, bands like GENOCIDIO managed to create their art from a truly
fresh perspective that was untainted by external influence. These recordings
belong to an important musical heritage whose influence reverberated
throughout the globe, and can still be felt today. In a just world, this
vinyl edition of THE GRAVE will finally endow this recording the worship it
deserves. This edition comes in a gatefold jacket with a thick 36 page
booklet.

Stranded Horse is a French touring machine centered around composer,
songwriter and instrument maker Yann Tambour. Tabour is fond of unusual
stylistic marriages, leading him to the confines of creole music whose
syncretism he reveres, or those improbable revisitations of western music
from the four corners of the world that he either gleaned on the road, or
discovered through re-releases by pioneers such as Sublime Frequencies,
Finders Keepers or Awesome Tapes from Africa to name a few. When asked about
the album's influences, Yann Tabour mentions Franco-s Tout Puissant Ok Jazz,
Linda Perhacs or Tim Buckley's contemplative wanderings, the mighty kora of
the great Malian masters which bounced off the great Mississipi bluesmen or
that time when Senegal became Afro-Cuban, with Super Diamono, with Star Band
de Dakar, with Idrissa Diop, Ivoirian logobi, South-East Asia, Iran or
Turkey-s strange psych pop, Haïti's Voodoo or Reunion island's Kabar transe
and dance. But Stranded Horse doesn-t forget to draw on the indie heritage
that is very much present too e.g. showing in terms of repertoire, there is
nothing to stop the band from covering Joy Division, The Smiths or even
Jackson C. Frank and the moving 'My Name is Carnival'. Behind the band
Stranded Horse lies a faith in chance encounters, a belief that renewal is
born out of chaos. They strive to skirt conventions and labels and wed
together unexpected genres, rules and habits in an album of erratic
wanderings. Singles 'Towards a Waning Glow' and 'Rumba Du Trépas/Stroke Me
With A Deadly Arrow' are the first outings, which propose dance and trance to
irresistible charms.

INTERVIEW BY EVERETT TRUE (THE LEGEND!)! TALULAH GOSH were a Indiepop group
from Oxford and one of the leading bands of the twee pop movement/C86, taking
their name from the headline of an NME interview with Clare Grogan. They
supposedly formed when Amelia Fletcher and Elizabeth Price, both wearing
PASTELS badges, met at a club in Oxford. Formed in 1986, their original
line-up comprised Amelia Fletcher (vocals, guitar), her younger brother
Mathew Fletcher (drums), Peter Momtchiloff (lead guitar), Rob Pursey (bass)
and Elizabeth Price (vocals). Rob left early on, to be replaced by Chris
Scott. Elizabeth left in 1987 to be replaced by Eithne Farry. They called it
a day in late 1988 with Amelia, Matthew and Peter reappearing soon after as
HEAVENLY. Amelia and Rob are currently in TENDER TRAP and released the 2012
album "10 Songs about Girls", Peter Momtchiloff is currently in the
WOULD-BE-GOODS and THE HOT HOOVES. Eithne Farry is an author and likes a
glass of sherry. Elizabeth Price recently won the 2012 Turner Prize for her
video installation "The Woolworths Chior of 1979". This compilation
brings together all of their recorded output, plus the two BBC sessions and
the four tracks which appeared on the demos EP in 2011. Sleeve notes and an
interview with the band by music journalist Everett True (also known as THE
LEGEND) feature in the 24 page booklet.

One of the rarest and most enigmatic LPs in the Brazilian discography, Pra
Quem Sabe das Coisas is a collective album that gathered a group of students
from Sao Paulo Law School, supported by the organist/pianist Renato Mendes,
one of Samba-Jazz's most important names. Released in 1973 by the label
EBRAU, finally has a refined reissue and its mysteries revealed, exactly half
a century later, considering that it was recorded in 1971, but put in the
market as LP only two years later. This reissue comes with an original insert
replica with lyrics and an extra insert with unseen photos and an exclusive interview
that the journalist and researcher Marcelo Pinheiro did with Cau Pimentel
adding even more to the richness of this workpiece, composed by many writers
and performers in 1971.
