THE YES-MEN fué la
banda liderada por Sean Greenway (God) y Stewart Cunningham
(Leadfinger, Proton Energy Pills, Brother Brick, Asteroid B612, etc)
a finales de los 90's en Australia. The Yes-Men grabaron esta obra
maestra del Rock and Roll high-energy llamada "Prosody" en la que la
Sonic Rendezvous Band se entremezcla con los New Christs más oscuros

Spanish synthesist who started in 1985. A veteran of analog
electronic sounds. His early influences were the Berlin School of

Geométricos (Geometric Developments) is the new album by Esplendor
Geométrico. Recorded
during 2010 and 2011, a few of its tracks have already been
premiered in Esplendor's latest performances in Europe. E.G. has
developed a unique and personal style that has influenced many
groups and is increasingly moving away from the clichés of
Industrial Music. Arturo Lanz, who heads the group, thinks that they
can no longer be labeled as "industrial". "Our music is deep,
powerful, primitive and hypnotic, using electronic instruments and
new technologies", says Lanz. "Desarrollos Geométricos" follows in
the steps of their previous and impressive album "Pulsión" (2009),
which was recently remixed (Re-Pulsión. 10") by renowned musicians
such as Frank Bretschneider or Atom TM. Repetitive and mechanic
electronic rhythms are intermingled with recordings of voices,
shouts, samples from traditional oriental music, percussions... Some
tracks induce a kind of trance and you won't be able to stop
listening them over and over again. The limited vinyl edition
version (700 copies numbered) includes six tracks (three of them

"Love Will
Tear Us Apart" should have been the band's most shining
moment.instead it became their tragic swan song. Released just a
month after frontman Ian Curtis' heart wrenching suicide, the song
came to be seen as the unheeded warning of the impending tragedy.
This special edition LP features all three versions of the song that
transformed Joy Division from mere band into legend. In addition to
the original single version, we have two versions remixed by
American producers Don Gehman of John Mellencamp fame (the "radio
version") and Arthur Baker (who also produced a hit single for
Africa Bambaataa around this same time). The remaining tracks
include "These Days" (which appeared on the original "Love Will Tear
Us Apart" single), along with "Transmission" (their debut single
released in 1979) and "Atmosphere" (originally released as a
France-only single) in 1980. This special edition features CLEAR
vinyl in a PVC sleeve with a double-sided printed plastic
insert. |

experimental rock band of the 1970s. The band, heavily influenced by
Fluxus, used electronic effects and a host of unusual instruments to
create a series of improvised drones. Kosugi went on to become the
music director for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. |

spending the first half of the 1970s globetrotting with Asia's
premiere avant-garde band-Takehisa Kosugi's Taj Mahal Travellers
(where Seiji Nagai played trumpet and keyboards)-Nagai continued to
study and play music, particularly Indian music (drones) and
electronic / computer generated music. In 1999 he finally released
Electronic Noise Improvisation, with the help of Koichi Watanabe,
Koji Kawai and Minoru Yonemoto. Here, as in the days of TMT, Nagai
concentrates on creating dense drones, but this time his instruments
are computers and a host of electronic gadgets, as well as
electronic mandolin and piano. |

giant dent. It gradually filled in but no matter what, it still left
a dent. And that dent held just enough water that it became a
primeval swamp known as Coochie Brake. Some young guys used to camp
in Coochie Brake. They climbed the massive granite boulders that
common sense said should not be there. They explored the caves. They
sat still and let the Brake speak to them as only the Brake can.

percussionist Airto's debut as a leader, and this is still his most
famous record. A brass section arranged by Don Sebesky is heard on
two tracks, and such all-stars as keyboardist Chick Corea, flutist
Hubert Laws, the reeds of Joe Farrell, and even pianist Keith
Jarrett and guitarist George Benson make worthwhile appearances.
Flora Purim joins Airto in the one vocal piece ("Free"), and "Return
to Forever" receives an early recording. The music combines together
jazz, Brazilian music, and aspects of fusion and funk quite
successfully. |

Creation was formed by guitarists Kazuo Takeda, Koh Eiryu and singer
Fumio Nunoya, in early 1969, after the dissolution of their Group
Sounds outfit The Bickies. Highly influenced by Cream and The
Yardbirds, Takeda joined forces with school friends Takayuki Noji,
Shinichi Tashiro, and lead singer Fumio Nunoya. Formerly vocalist
with Taboo, a heavy band led by future Happy End guitarist Eiichi
Otaki, Nunoya was also searching for an even heavier sound, and the
results of the new American-influenced experiment were released in
October 1969, as Blues Creation. Singer Fumio Nunoya soon found
himself edged out of artistic decisions by the supremely confident
Takeda, and thereafter left to form his own band Dew. Whilst
searching around throughout 1970 for a new singer, guitarist Takeda
heard the new even more strung out music of Led Zeppelin, Black
Sabbath, Eric Claptons solo LP CLAPTON, and Leslie Wests Mountain,
and decided he should take the opportunity to start again from
scratch. Takeda enlisted bassist Masashi Saeki and drummer Akiyoshi
Higuchi for the new line-up, and eschewed the previous covers style
in favour of his own compositions. With the new Blues Creation
fronted by singer Hiromi Osawa, Kazuo Takeda recorded what has come
to be regarded as his masterpiece in the form of DEMON & ELEVEN
CHILDREN. This album was recorded at the Japan Folk Jamboree, and is
a full-on gem of a record, but Takeda was now widely known as a true
Japanese guitar hero, and - as ever - had set his sights higher and
higher. He split Blues Creation the following year, leaving for
London in late 1972. |

album Fully Qualified Survivor (LITA 060), comes his 1969 debut
Rainmaker (originally released on the seminal Harvest label). Like
the QS' album, Rainmaker is a psychedelic-guitar-folk delight. The
album kicks off with one of Chapman's best known songs "It Didn't
Work Out" - which features a stellar cast of legendary English
musicians of the era; Guitarist "Clem" Clempson was in the prog-band
Bakerloo (soon after playing with Chapman he'd join jazz-rockers
Colosseum and then Humble Pie) Drummer Aynsley Dunbar (his resume
includes John Mayall, Eric Burdon, David Bowie, Frank Zappa and Lou
Reed), bassist Alex Dmochowski (long time Dunbar comrade) were both
in Dunbar's Retaliation. Organ player Norman Haines was in
Locomotive (another obscure, but legendary progressive English band
of the day). A true stylist in his own right, Chapman holds a middle
line between John Martyn and Bert Jansch with the provocative
electric rock of Martyn juxtaposed against the traditional folk so
wonderfully espoused by Jansch. Another highlight is Chapman's
lyrical/vocal style, which would appeal to fans of Roy Harper. Along
for the ride on other songs are acoustic bassist Danny Thompson
(Pentangle, John Martyn, Nick Drake) and electric bass player Rick
Kemp (later to join Steeleye Span). All of the proceedings were
produced by Gus Dudgeon who also did Chapman's "FQS" album as well
as David Bowie's "Space Oddity" single - and a ton of the early work
of Elton John. Light In The Attic has done an excellent job
reproducing the gatefold vinyl in its exact original form (including
a deluxe Stoughton-printed jacket), while the CD version includes 6
rare bonus tracks from the Rainmaker sessions, including 3
previously unreleased songs never heard else-where! And if that
wasn't enough, journalist Byron Coley penned 5,000 words of new
liner notes taken from a fresh Chapman interview detailing the
recording sessions. All packaged with many

In 1969,
Alex Chilton, the former lead singer of the chart-topping Box Tops
entered Ardent Studios in Memphis to make an album. He was a couple
of years away from forming Big Star, but these, his first solo
recordings - eventually released in the 1990s as "1970" - display
the same skills and idiosyncrasies that would characterise his
career right up until his untimely death in 2010. The album,
originally slated for either the Atlantic label or the Beach Boys
Brother Records, features a diverse range of mostly original
material by Chilton, including the commercial Free Again, the
proto-Big Star sound of Something Deep Inside, and the sublime
ballads Every Day As We Grow Closer and The EMI Song. Big Beats new
expanded edition of "1970" features both unreleased period mono
mixes, and fresh remixes done at Ardent Studios, and it also adds
three previously unissued songs including the fragile outtake All We
Ever Got From Them Was Pain. In-depth sleeve notes by Alec Palao and
previously unseen photos help in the reappraisal of this underrated
pop-rock gem. |

and download card*** Karen Dalton was a remote, elusive creature. A
hybrid of tough and tender with an unearthly voice that seemed to
embody a time long past. As is often the case with such fragile
beings, she instinctively understood that the only way to survive
the harshness of the world around her, was to keep herself hidden.
So it comes as no great surprise that she rarely sang in public or
ventured into the unnatural setting of a recording studio. Only
twice, for 1969's It's So Hard To Tell Who's Going To Love You The
Best and then again for 1971's In My Own Time, was she coaxed from
her habitat into the studio. Other times she made music in casual
settings, sitting around a kitchen table or wood burning stove with
her friends, singing and playing until daybreak. In 1966, Carl Baron
brought his reel to reel over to her remote cabin in Summerville,
Colorado and recorded one of those exquisite musical evenings. Karen
and Richard Tucker were rehearsing for a gig when Carl hit the
"Record" button. The result is a 45-year-old tape, carefully
exhumed, documenting Karen at her most raw and unfiltered. On it are
Fred Neil and Tim Hardin songs we've never heard Karen give voice to
before, as well as traditional songs she uncannily makes her own,
including a devastating version of atie Cruel', that is so powerful,
it is as if the ghost of Katie Cruel seeped into her blood. This
recording is a window to her Summerville cabin opened, allowing us
to eavesdrop on Karen Dalton at her most pure and
unaffected. |

improvisation of his that became the backbone of one of the central
epic pieces on this album 'If Anyone Ever Tells Me That it is Better
to Have Loved and Lost Than to Have Never Loved At All I Will Stab
Them in the Face'. 'Dust Flesh and Bones', another of the epic
pieces on this album, is perhaps Elliott's most beautiful and moving
work to date, simple in its form but emotionally profound. 'The Pain
that's Yet to Come' hints at a new almost psychedelic era to
come.'The Broken Man' is an album to be discovered gradually over
many listens, and with each one a new depth is surrendered until one
can appreciate the panorama in its entirety. Each track is an
invitation to explore one man's analysis of his own descent
reflecting the frustrations and sadness that touch us all at some
point. Mixed by YANN TIERSEN this album is a bridge between the more
acoustic work of 'Songs' and the more electronic, ethereal work of

enigmatic Morphine front man Mark Sandman used to describe his
band's beat-inspired blues-jazz-rock holy racket. Along with

instrument of choice instead of the expected guitar, creating a
quirky and burning sensibility. Original drummer Jerome Deupree, who
was replaced by percussionist Billy Conway during the recording of
1993's Cure For Pain, flushed out the unorthodox trio. Hailed by the
alternative college-rock community in the mid-1990s after motion
picture soundtrack placements in Spanking The Monkey and the MTV
animated series Beavis and Butt-head, such commercial endorsements
did little to distract from Cure For Pain's deep soul. Released on
vinyl as the second title in Light In The Attic's Modern Classics
series (following a reissue of Mercury Rev's seminal Deserter's
Songs) we're happy to make this album accessible to music lovers the
world over. Do you have a spare $225? Neither do we, but that seems
to be the average out-of-reach price for an original vinyl copy of
Cure For Pain these days. Oddly, the LP has only been available as a
vintage limited run Brazilian pressing. Featuring the essential
songs "Buena," "Sheila," "Candy," and the moving title-track "Cure
For Pain," this is the album's first-ever US vinyl issue. Modern
Classics' Cure For Pain features lovingly re-mastered audio,

n' Nasty' by Kim's 1977 Perth Punk outfit The Cheap Nasties it
wasn't difficult to come up with something opposite yet similar and
Precious Jules came into being. Precious Jules have carefully cut,
added to and indeed 'polished' their collection of gems. They may
well move onto some other unlikely genre in the future but for this
album, P.J.s have got something to prove - that even though there
are just two of them, their rock is the hardest. Diamond hard in

When James
Jackson Toth, aka Wooden Wand, was invited to record for a split 7"
with his friend Duquette Johnston (formerly of Verbena) and his band
the Gum Creek Killers for release on the Communicating Vessels
label, his first impulse was to send a track from his legendary
archives of unreleased material. But Duquette suggested Toth visit
him in Birmingham and they record both sides of the record together,
from scratch, using the same band, at Ol Elegante Studios in
Homewood, AL. Toth claimed that it was one of the most positive
recording experiences that he ever had, and immediately wanted to
make a whole record this way. Duquette made Toth put his money where
his mouth is and invited him back down to Homewood to record the new
Wooden Wand album with the Gum Creek Killers, with Duquette and Les
Nuby (Vulture Whale, ex-Verbena) producing. Toth added to this group
his constant foil and best friend Brian Lowery and Jody Nelson of
Through The Sparks, and the Briarwood Virgins were born. The
sessions were casual and loose, yielding some of the most 'rock and
roll' sounding music of Toth's long career. For an artist known in
some circles as something of a 'folkie,' it's interesting to note
that this album contains only a single track of acoustic
guitar. |

guitar but some mellow, bluesy psychedelic rock numbers too. Maki
went on to form her own band, Oz, but this is the collaboration for
which she will be best remembered. Highly

The time
has now come for PETER BERRY & THE SHAKE SET to release their
third album, Berry-Go-Round. Since their beginning in 2003, PETER
BERRY & THE SHAKE SET have been hopelessly lost in early 60s
beat music, and it is their mission to be a band as they were in
those times. This manifests itself in the groups attitude towards
both live performances and recordings. The record has once again
been recorded atToe-Rag Studios in London, with Liam Watson as the
producer. This time around, the difference lies in the stereo
production. The recording has been done live, and with the mixing,
three days have been spent in the studio. Berry-Go- Round consists
of 14 tracks, both instrumental and with vocals, and has a mixture
of own compositions and more and less known favorites. Some of the
idea behind the entire band project is to take on a genre which is
often dismissed as being somewhat lightweight and weak, and to
imagine themselves in settings one dreams of as a fan of such old
bands. In this sense, one might say that the project is driven by
emotion, romance and daydreaming (however cheesy that may sound),
rather than any ambition of or desire to make themselves heard on
todays popand rock scene. The band consciously try to steer clear of
what characterises their own generations approach to 60s music; the
unpolished and rough, the early beginning of punk rock and the
like. |

The five
Parisian Garage Rockers THE NORVINS, founded in 2004, have proven
their talent to us already with their debut album TIME MACHINE. Now
it's time for their second LP YOGA WITH MONA, which matches its
predecessor in quality in every way. THE NORVINS remained true to
their style: With its catchy organdriven melodies, wild guitars, a
touch of harmonica, lead singer Edouard's forceful voice and an
authentic 60's sound, the album is once again pure Garage Punk (not
least because the band use original equipment). The influence and
love of 60's Garage rock and its hits, amongst others compiled on
NUGGETS or BACK FROM THE GRAVE, are clearly audible. "Monk's
Hangover" with the harmonica and "Keep me posted" with its great
beat remind one a bit of THE CHESTERFIELD KINGS, whereas "Scream and
Shout" and "Yoga with Mona" have an energy which is comparable to
GRAVEDIGGER V. Then again, "Better of dead" is a slightly slower
song with a psychedelic sound. Additionally, the album also includes
a "norvinesque" cover version of the classic "It's a crying shame"
by THE GENTLEMEN. Every one of the sixteen songs is a hit and will
definitely make you want to dance! This band has a raw energy, like
every rock'n'roll band should have it. Therefore, the new LP YOGA
WITH MONA by THE NORVINS (available as LP and CD) is a must have for
every Garage Punker. |

THE
SATELLITERS are known as Garage band with a 60s fuzz sound now since
1993; these four gifted guys have delivered some of the finest
modern garage rock albums on renowned labels such as the US Garage
cult label DIONYSUS RECORDS and SCREAMING APPLE - they also released
a 7'' on SOUNDFLAT RECORDS. Their distinctive organ-driven sound
together with the strong vocals have won over a large fanbase and
now they present us with their new album OUTTA HERE. The album,
available both as CD and LP, offers an archetypal and authentic
Garage sound that might just as well have been recorded in the
1960s. Compared to their previous two albums, the record is a little
bit more back to the roots and thereby perfect for any lover of 60s
Garage Punk and fuzz guitars. The album starts off with the
ingenious and catchy song "Outta Here", which is followed by several
wild Garage pieces, as usual fittingly accompanied by organ that
reaches its climax in the masterpiece "Lost in Time". Their cover
version of THE MODDS' "Leave my House" has a bit more beat to it
than the original and needless to say, bears the unmistakable
SATELLITERS vocals. The song "Waste of Time" reminds one a lot of
bands like THE MUSIC MACHINE, while "Eyes cry Tears" could be best
compared to THE MIRACLE WORKERS. "Seeing is Believing" is a slightly
more quiet midtempo song which fits very well within the twelve
songs. The new album OUTTA HERE by THE SATELLITERS is pure 60s
Garage Rock; authentic, stirring and 100 % danceable. |
