DESUMANOS - DESUMANOS
Desumanos' fresh mixture of guitar driven melodies is as evocative as it is
playful. From their native Brazil, the band casts uncompromising surf scents
on a handful of songs that also drop in the mix African rhythms, cumbia and
lambada. This instrumental project is made up of a dream-team of producers
and musicians: Kassin (bass), who was member of The +2's and co-produced
Gilles Peterson's Brazilian project Sonzeira, and former Os Mutantes member Liminha
(guitar), as well as Felipe and Manoel Cordeiro (guitar), one of the lambada
originators, and Stephane San Juan (drums), currently playing with David
Byrne.

BANG! Records present an expanded and remastered reissue of the Fuzztones-
Preaching to the Perverted, originally released in 2011. Preaching to the
Perverted was the seventh studio album by the legendary NYC garage rock band
The Fuzztones. The album was produced by the leader and sole survivor of the
original Fuzztones line-up Rudi Protrudi and Berlin keyboardist Lana
Loveland. Includes 2 bonus tracks previously unreleased from the recording
sessions. On this album, The Fuzztones keep their fuzz spreading. Remastered,

This 1974 debut album by heavy-duty trombone-centric Colombian salsa group
The Latin Brothers remains a favorite the world over to this day. Featuring
the soaring vocals of Píper Pimienta and backing of Fruko with members of his
band Los Tesos, The Latin Brothers would inspire future Colombian salsa
orchestras like Grupo Niche as well as helping establish Medellín as a center
of salsa almost as famous as Cali. Filled with lesser-known dance floor
classics, this remastered edition also contains the non-LP bonus track 'Echa
pa' lante camará'. 180g vinyl.

Peruvian trumpet player Tito Chicoma dedicated his 1968 LP on MAG to
recording two fashionable rhythms at the time: "Cumbias Y
Boogaloos". Although Colombian cumbia had gained popularity much
earlier, Boogaloo in Peru was championed primarily by the MAG record label,
which kept its listeners abreast of tropical music developments in New York,
releasing and distributing records by Alegre Records and recording versions
of hit songs. An extremely rare and obscure tropical gem loaded with dance
floor tunes, reissued now for the first time.

From Managua, we present you the mythical BWANA, the afro tropical rock
ensemble pioneer in its style in Central America, with the themes of his
second LP: 'Ritmo Matizon' and 'Pa Gozar', an incredible continuation of
their first LP known worldwide, which includes his international successes
such as 'La Jurumba' and 'La Patada'. Interestingly, its second LP was less
promoted and is a piece very much desired by latin music collectors, and only
intrepid diggers have been able to find an original copy traveling in
Nicaragua. BWANA was born in 1970 from the need to unite the bata drums, the
African tradition of Palo Mayombe, the more acid and modernist rock of
tropical music. The ensemble was led by Roberto Martines (Maguila), a
versatile, visionary and creative multi/instrumentalist, who since he was a
child has been engaged in spiritual sessions with his family. To complete the
idea of BWANA, the perfect connection was Salvador Fernandez (Chava), conga
player and great expert of Afro rhythms. The group had massively success in
Nicaragua, Colombia, Mexico and Panama, but inexplicably disintegrated in the
midway 70s and its members disappeared from the musical map.

Presented on this 7-inch EP are tracks which were recorded in 1968 for the
ITV TV show 'It Must Be Dusty'. Hendrix launches into 'Stone Free' with 'This
is dedicated to Brian Jones', who had shortly before been arrested for
possession of marijuana. Side 1 finishes up with a bit of chat between Jimi
and Dusty. After the break Jimi accompanies Dusty with solo guitar on a duet
of Charlie and Inez Foxx's 'Mockingbird' and the session ends with a powerful
rendition of the killer single 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return)'.

Nichollas Mariano was Roberto Carlos's butler and advisor in his most golden
and creative phase. Roberto was one of the most popular artists in Brazil and
Latin America. Mariano accompanied him in most of the events, had the power
to sign some documents in his name and also had full influence on the songs
that would or would not be on his albums. Having been a disc jockey, he had a
good idea of the tracks that could become a hit. In the midst of this
scenario, in 1967, he obtained the authorization and support of the
"Rei" to record a 7". Backed up by the garage band SOM BEAT
get in to studio to record two of the punkest slabs recorded in South America
in late 60's. Fuzz fueled and a strong punk beat the two track recorded that
day become legendary and the super rare 45 is today a most wanted by
collectors all over the world. These two tracks are the only recordings that
exist by Nichollas Marino.

South-african jazz-rock worshippers alert ! Assagai was an Afro-rock band,
active in the early 1970s in London, whose relatively short career produced
two albums recorded in 1971. It has been described as 'the second best-known
African group of the late 60s/early 70s in Britain' after Osibisa. The
original band consisted of five members, three from South Africa and two from
Nigeria: drummer Louis Moholo, trumpeter/flautist Mongezi Feza, alto
saxophonist Dudu Pukwana, tenor saxophonist Bizo Mngqikana, and guitarist&bassist
Fred Coker. Assagai's self-titled debut album was released in 1971 on
Vertigo: among the African musicians who played with the group on the
recording was Terri Quaye. Previously, in the 1960s Pukwana, Feza and Moholo
had been members of the jazz band The Blue Notes alongside Chris McGregor.

1972 Debut album by cultish japanese combo ! This unbelievable
psychedlic&progressive rock band came together the same year after
Shigeru Narumo and Hiro Tsunoda shelved their project Strawberry Path (they
had a sole album release in 1971 and eventually a 7 inch). Their sound is
pure adrenaline, a stormy hard blues kinda thing, with heavy Hammond organ
riffs and more than a freakbeat influence. Partially informed by
contemporaries british bands like Deep Purple or Uriah Heep, they opened to
more gentle and sophisticated arrangements in the soulful ballad 'I Love You'
with an epic string section. The hypothetical single 'Plastic Fantasy' could
have been an alternative dancefloor classic with that Traffic/Brian Auger
feel in the end.

Back in stock! Although they existed for only a year, the Highspeed V made
enough of a mark on Stockholm's pioneering neo-garage scene for their name
and music to live on several decades later. Along with the Livingstones and
the Wylde Mammoths the Highspeed V were a local econd wave' outfit,
forming in the Spring 1986 as a combination of experienced players and
newcomers to the garage punk circuit. Bass-player/vocalist Jens Lindberg and
harmonica cat Henrik Orrje both came from the notorious Crimson Shadows, a
first-wave group whose story and recordings can be found on a recent Groovie
Records sampler. Crimson' (as they were known locally) folded in March '86
after two outstanding 45s and a series of alcohol-fuelled concerts, the last
of which ended with a band member getting beaten up by the police. To us
young fans, Crimson's falling apart seemed a serious blow to the whole scene,
but we were happy to soon learn otherwise. During the preceding year the
Stockholm underground had spawned numerous young moptops who lived by Pebbles
anthems and Back From The Grave 3-chord grunge, and who patterned their look
on Sunset Strip '66 rather than the familiar British mod style. In such a
thriving milieu the split-up of the great Crimson Shadows became a mere bump
in the road, as new bands and new horizons emerged. This LP brings all the
HIGHSPEED V recordings along with some unreleased demos. A insert with rare
photos, full story of Stockolm neo-garage scene and family tree by Patrick
Lundborg, Author of The Acid Archives and Psychedelia books. Limited

A multi/instrumentalist who reconfigured jazz many times during his long
career, Yusef Lateef came to prominence in the late 1950s, after having
toured with Dizzy Gillespie. Jazz Mood dates from 1957, when his Quintet had
some of Detroit's finest, including Alice Coltrane's brother Ernest Farrow on
bass and future Jazz Messenger Curtis Fuller on trombone. The use of an argol
on 'Metaphor' and a rabat and finger cymbals on 'Morning' point to Lateef's
Islamic grounding and his belief that music serves a higher purpose: this
edition has bonus track 'Passion,' from the equally excellent Before Dawn.
Rich, deep, and varied, this is required listening for all serious jazz heads.

Reissue of 2014 album. 'Censored by a controlling under powered label we have
finally released the album as it was intended. Altamont was no joke, it
changed the world, it changed rock'n'roll forever. We covered at least one
song every band that participated in Altamont... minus The Grateful Dead, who
went home scared. Every song has a lords twist that is like a solid punch
between the eyes. This was one of the hardest and funnest albums to record.
It was great seeing all the past members come together for a session. Burrito
Bros, Jefferson Airplane, Rolling Stones, Santana, Crosby Stills Nash and
Young... how did we do it???? Dec. 6th 1969 forever changed. 17 former Lords
recorded this album in Los Angeles at the Glory Hole wih Nic Jodoin Gabe

a self released LP from 1984, recorded in a studio in Portugal, with Paulino
Vieira in the line up along with other well known CV heroes from the 80's
such as Chibanga on the drums, this is maybe the ultimate discovery of the
Cape Verdian funana music. Not much is known about this fantastic record or
about the obscure MARCOS. The 6 tracks recorded on the LP are pure killer
funana, no synthetiser, only keyboards, guitars, drums and bass. Till date

singer. By 1972 the German TV show Beat Club would let famous artists stretch
out and play more than just the usual one or two hits. In this case Mayfield
recorded an hour of music in a TV studio for the producers to select from.
Most of this performance was lost in someone's vault for many years. The
concert is from early 1972 and predates his masterpiece 'Superfly'. You'll
find several tracks from his two earlier acclaimed solo albums as well:

The original line up of Monster Magnet presents 'Test Patterns Vol. 1'. The
psychedelic track 'Tab' was originally released back in 1991. Here we get a
2021 mix of the original track plus the never before released 1988 demo
version. Both tracks have a running time of over 24 minutes. Julian Cope
described the original release as distilling Hawkwind, Sabbath and The
Stooges into a lysergic soup of brown acid and bathtub meth, and ultimately cultivating
a 'Altamont vibe': the negative end of the psychedelic spectrum. The LP is
pressed on 180-GRAM BLACK VINYL and comes housed in a beautiful gatefold
sleeve with an acid blotter insert.

OHNO, MATSUO - ROOTS OF ELECTRONIC SOUND
Futuristic synthesizer specialist and sound designer Matsuo Ohno was
responsible for the sound design of a broad range of film, television and
radio soundtracks, most famously the animation series Astro Boy, which he
began working on in 1963, together with his assistant, Takehisa Kosugi. Ohno
was born in the heavily-populated Kanda district of central Tokyo in 1930 and
was heavily affected by the repeated bombing raids on the city enacted in
World War II, which took place during his formative years. After the War,
deeply motivated by philosophy and Surrealism, he was largely unaffected by
popular music, other than the electronic abstractions of Karlheinz
Stockhausen, the left-wing filmmaker Fumio Kamei was another early influence.
Ohno began immersing himself in the realm of sound effects while working with
the Bungaku-za modernist theatre troupe and he performed a similar function
at NHK, Japan's national broadcasting corporation, but became so frustrated
by the rigidity of the restrictions imposed on him there that he quit his
prestigious post at the broadcaster, although his skills were such that he
remained in high demand as a freelancer, which allowed him to refine his
sound effects techniques with evolving analogue synthesizers. The five suites
of tracks that make up the album Roots Of Electronic Sound album were
recorded between 1963 and 1966, initially released on the ALM label in 1975,
it is comprised of brief tape experiments, the cover artwork fittingly
representing Astro Boy, from which many of the audio interludes are taken.

A rare groove classic finally back in print ! Opener 'Streets Of Calcutta'
has been covered several times (most recently by japanese wizards Kikagaku
Moyo) and is still regarded as an east/west hybrid manifesto. Ananda Shankar
(11 December 1942 - 26 March 1999) was an Indian musician, singer, and
composer best known for fusing Western and Eastern musical styles. He was
married to dancer and choreographer Tanusree Shankar. In the late 1960s,
Shankar travelled to Los Angeles, where he played with many contemporary
musicians including Jimi Hendrix. There he was signed to Reprise Records and
released his first album, Ananda Shankar, in 1970, with original Indian
classical material alongside sitar-based cover versions of popular hits, The
Rolling Stones 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' and The Doors 'Light My Fire'. Returning
to India in the early 1970s, Shankar continued to experiment musically and in
1975 released his most critically acclaimed album, Ananda Shankar and His
Music, a jazz-funk mix of Eastern sitar, Western rock guitar, tabla and
mridangam, drums and Moog synthesizers.

Repress! Originally released in 1970, 'The Garden Of Jane Delawney' is the
debut album from British psych & folk collective Trees. The band were
known for an expansive take on pastoral folk that wasn't afraid to wig out
here and there. This standalone vinyl reissue comes on the back of a
successful and much-praised fiftieth anniversary boxset of all their
recordings.

TWICE, RICHARD - RICHARD TWICE
Fuzz guitars, organ, celestial vocal harmonies, a single effort and
then.eternity (or obscurity if you look at the other side of the coin). In
1968 leader Richard Atkins - Richard Manning his artistic partner &
co-writer, hence the name - was building toward success, his musical
adventures and philosophy not that far from the likes of The Byrds or the
more eccentric Simon & Garfunkel. He'd won a contract with Mercury
Records, and recorded with the Wrecking Crew members, a group of Los Angeles
session musicians famous for their work with the Beach Boys, Elvis, Frank
Sinatra, and hundreds more. But stage fright triggered a disastrous
make-or-break performance in a small Hollywood nightclub, and everything
abruptly fell apart. Atkins gave up music in the prime, and for 50 years he
refused even to listen to a radio, so painful were his memories of a career
he was convinced could have been. Featuring top-notch backing from musicians
such as Drake Levin (Paul Revere & the Raiders), Larry Knechtel (Bread),
Mark Tulin (the Electric Prunes) and Rusty Young (Poco), the album -
nonetheless - it's bound to appeal to all fans of high-quality early '70s US
pop-rock. In 2017 the short history of this unlucky but brilliant combo was
featured in a short animated movie of 10 minutes !

All in all the debut album by cultish japanese freak-rockers Flower
Travellin' Band, then called Yuya Uchida & The Flowers. Released in 1969
it features mainly cover songs of influential Western bands such as Cream,
Big Brother and the Holding Company, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Jefferson
Airplane. It was named number 34 on Bounce's 2009 list of 54 Standard
Japanese Rock Albums.
