Rastafarian hardcore and reggae group Bad Brains released their self-titled
debut album in January of 1982 on ROIR and performed some of their very first
West Coast gigs later that year. The Old Waldorf, at that point owned by Bill
Graham, originally opened in 1976 and was host to some of the Bay-s most legendary
early punk shows featuring The Avengers, The Dead Boys, The Dead Kennedys,
and others. Bad Brains played their patented blend of hardcore punk and
dub/roots reggae to a packed and frenzied crowd at The Old Waldorf on October

September 10, 1968. In 2007, Rolling Stone Japan placed it at number 13 on
its list of the '100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums of All Time'. Rumored to
be a big influence on High Rise, one of their tracks ('Marianne') was covered
by Fushitsusha on Tokyo Flashback II. 'Here's what is considered one of the
best psychedelic records in the world and certainly one of the must-have
Japanese rock albums. The Jacks managed to record a very unique album, very
dark and introspective, an album full of tension and contained wrath that
maintains its power by refusing to fully explode. You'll find fuzz guitars,
tremolo, lots of reverb and the occasional use of flute and vibraphone.

Lithuanian-born violin prodigy Clara Rockmore became the best/known master of
the electronic theremin after emigrating to the USA, her uncommon approach
enabling its integration in the classical milieu even as she refined its construction.
This landmark debut surfaced in 1977, when she was already 66< produced by
synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog and featuring her sister Nadia on accompanying
piano, Theremin (aka The Art Of The Theremin) showed all the majesty and
grace of Rockmore's approach to the theremin, her classical grounding and
virtuosity enabling an emotive response from the instrument, with uncommon
nuances of pitch, tone, and cadence. This one-off masterpiece is a musical
gem ripe for rediscovery, a must for all fans of the theremin and anyone

favor of string arrangements. The orchestra is led by famous conductor Bob

Sons of Alpha Centauri are the UK's original instrumental stalwarts. Formed
in 2001 they released their atmospheric and progressive debut to acclaim in
2007 and since then proceeded to develop their instrumental approach having
been accepted and adopted by instrumental luminaries Karma to Burn and
Yawning Man. SOAC have released multiple split records, undertaken several
collaborations and toured extensively with Karma to Burn since 2009 and have
also formed Yawning Sons with members of Yawning Man. The collaboration
heralded involvement from Scott Reeder (Kyuss), Wendy Rae Fowler (Queens of
the Stone Age) releasing several albums to critical acclaim in 2009 and 2021
both widely referred to as cult classics. Push is a soundtrack that blends
the instantly recognisable sonic landscape of SOAC with the wrought emotional
tone of Far and the epic backbone of Will Haven. This milestone album was
recorded by Lance Jackman of EightFourSeven in Sacramento and engineered and
mixed by Dan Lucas. This album has been mastered by the legendary Nick
Zampiello (Cave In, Converge, ISIS) and presented impeccably by Exile on
Mainstream Records.

VARIOUS - CALYPSO TREASURES
Calypso developed into its modern form in Trinidad around the turn of the
twentieth century as a primarily English-language topical song associated
with pre-Lenten Carnival. By the 1920s, Calypsonians, as the singers and
composers were called, performed in "tents" (yards covered by a
tarp, union halls, and such) for the people of Trinidad and for tourists. As
early as the 1930s, the genre was gaining a following outside of its
homeland: for example the British writer Aldous Huxley visited a tent in 1933
and wrote with admiration about calypso singing : " The Calypsonians of
Trinidad live in another 'Zeit': so the 'Geist' they obey is not the same as
ours. In that, it may be, they are fortunate.

AGENT ORANGE - LIVING IN DARKNESS
Digipack with obi strip. Limited to 500 copies. Adventurous southern
California punk trio Agent Orange was the first band to mix surf rock with
punk. The group was formed in 1979 in Placentia, a small town close to
Fullerton and Anaheim, by front man Mike Palm on guitar and lead vocals,
Steve Soto on bass, and Scott Miller on drums. That early line-up recorded
the classic version of 'Bloodstains' in 1979 as a demo produced by Daniel R.
van Patten (of the group Berlin). A year later it was included on the seminal
'Rodney On The Roq' compilation album released by Posh Boy Records.
Meanwhile, James Levesque had replaced Steve Soto (Adolescents) and the new
line-up released their own self-produced and self-released 7" EP in
1980. A year later, the group signed with Robbie Fields' Posh Boy Records for
their debut LP, 'Living In Darkness', co-produced by Fields and former
Simpletones guitarist Jay Lansford. The album was recorded at Brian Elliot's
store front studio in North Hollywood (a few years before Elliot struck gold
writing Madonna's 'Papa Don't Preach'). A milestone
in California punk rock history

LIVE ON DAVID FROST
The years 1968 and 1969 were turbulent years for society in general and the
Rolling Stones in particular. Having decided that the psychedelia of 1967-s
-Their Satanic Majesties Request- was not a good look, Keith Richards went
back to his roots for the highly acoustic -Beggars Banquet- LP. Lead track
-Sympathy For The Devil- made its world debut on David Frost-s primetime TV
programme to a mixed reaction. It was the last time that Brian Jones would be
seen on stage with the Stones> he can be glimpsed playing keyboards, and
percussion on the opening verses. When the Stones recorded -You Can-t Always
Get What You Want- and -Honky Tonk Women- for Frost the following year Jones
was gone, replaced by Mick Taylor. For all these tracks Jagger sang over a
pre/recorded backing track> -Sympathy- also benefitted from some
additional Richards- guitar parts.

- EXTRACT FROM THE FUNGUS
Thank you for getting 'Extract from The Fungus'. The disc is a collection of
songs recorded throughout the history of The Celibate Rifles. The band were
well known for their iconic and unusual versions of songs that inspired or
horrified them and sometimes even recorded them. The first 5 songs are from a
1985 session that was planned as a cover album, but did not come to fruition
in the end. These themes are all the ones that went the furthest. Demos and
preliminary mixes to later add and finish. That never happened live on studio
recordings: the lead vocal was recorded on other sessions. 'Hot Stuff' is a
recreation of The Rifles from a classic record and 'I'm Gonna Try' was the
last session the band recorded with just a leading voice, but it was the last
session Damien sang in the studio before he became unwell and could not
complete the session. These songs are all unreleased versions except 'Six
Days ...' sung with Barry Crocker which was on a 4 ZZZ radio fundraising
album. Any other song repeated in some other album or compilation is a
different mix or take than the one with 'Extract from The Fungus'. This album
is an offering to fans in appreciation for their support throughout the years
rather than something to further the band's career. The Celibate Rifles sadly
no longer exist, but they allow this to remember and maintain the legacy of
the 40 years that they entertained and took on the world. More previously
unreleased songs and covers are likely to be released soon. Limited edition

Femme Fatale with Patti Smith and fronting the Backstreet Boys at CBGB and

this immortal self-titled debut LP, released by Safari Records in 1978, has
many highlights, like the Teddy Boy-meets-punk of 'Eddie and Sheena' and full
punk 'Out Of Control' and 'On The Crest': even the spacy 'Plain Of Nazca' is
a mighty rockin' storm, led by JJ Johnson's pounding rolls and Greg Van

know 'SFL' is a total classic (many post-punkers rate it much higher than the
subsequent substitute) and, hey, let's face it, my writings would seem like
cumbersome word-bricks compared to the poetic literary architecture of, say,
"top cultural scribes" Morley or Reynolds. Most have probably heard
that legendary album in the digital realm as LTM tagged it onto their two

This collection is the first attempt at putting the pieces together,
compiling a life's work of an artist whose spark almost shined unto the
world. His was a music both familiar and entirely alien at once. It touches
on corners of darkness, an isolation both lonely and sweet, all wrapped in a
cold glow that draws the listener into each note, each melancholy melody
triggering unrecorded experiences. His various projects put out music which
began as a junction point between Link Wray's surf guitar and the theatrical
psychobilly of The Cramps, took a turn towards goth-inflected post-punk, and
towards the end of his career would sojourn back into his earlier musical
fascination with late 1950s and early 1960s rock 'n' roll. The Israeli
guitarist recorded seven albums worth of material in 15 years during his

Jackie Mittoo is one of Jamaica's musical giants, a towering figure in the
development of reggae whose skills as a keyboardist and musical arranger led
to indelible changes in the evolution of Jamaican popular music, helping it
to reach international prominence. An exceptionally-expressive player whose
mastery of the organ was truly outstanding, Mittoo was also a gifted arranger
with an intrinsic feel for what would work best, his key instruction giving
shape to ska at Studio One and roots reggae at Channel One and other Kingston
studios, as well as lover's rock at Wackies in New York and with Sugar Minott
and UB40 in Britain, Jackie's own productions later incorporating far-out
synthesizer experiments and vocoder techniques. Reggae as we know it would
never have existed without Mittoo's essential input, making him an under-sung
icon of Jamaican song. Jackie Mittoo went on to make all kinds of other
incredible music in Jamaica, the UK, USA, and Canada before dying of cancer
in 1990 at the tragically young age of 42< the dramatic send-off he
received at the National Arena in Kingston gives some indication of the
stellar status he achieved in his lifetime and the universal respect with
which he was regarded. In an exemplary career full of exceptional music, -Showcase-,

the end of the 60s in the wake of Bobbie Gentry's 'Ode To Billie Joe', a shock
number one hit in 1967. When singers like Gentry, Jimmy Webb, Michael Nesmith
and Lee Hazlewood moved from the south to Los Angeles to make it in the music
business, they were not part of the Nashville in-crowd and they forged a new
direction. The tracklist and fulsome sleeve notes have been put together by
Bob Stanley (Saint Etienne) and Martin Green (Smashing, The Sound Gallery),

and restless. Traditional music and soppy folk was the norm, but when in
December 1961 kids in Bucharest got to see the film "The Young
Ones" starring Cliff Richard and The Shadows, their eyes, ears and minds
exploded with the seed of rock n roll. This gateway into the wild ways
created a wave of bands who were eager to sink their teeth into any morsel of
60s culture from the West. 'Hai Noroc!' is the first collection of Beat,
Garage and Pop artefacts from Communist Romania. 16 hard to find cuts and
