HECTOR COSTITA SEXTETO - IMPACTO
Born in Argentina,
saxophonist and flutist Hector "Costita" Bisignani arrived to Brazil in the
late 1950s and in the following years played with some of the biggest names
of the era such as Joao Donato, Manfredo Fest and Sérgio Mendes. In 1964 he
recorded "Impacto" with his sextet, an explosive mix of tough jazz
and Brazilian samba widely considered his best work. The album's ten tracks
include three Costita compositions, songs by Tom Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes
and a superb version of Horace Silver's 'Tokyo Blues'. A killer samba-jazz

HUINCA - HUINCA
The self-titled Huinca album by Litto Nebbia (Los Gatos), in its ten tracks, brings
together a peculiar naivety, so typical of the dawn of a new era. This is
still more poignant in countries without a tradition in rock as well as
immediate information of what was going on in England
or in the USA.
And that is its charm, and therefore - unconsciously - a watershed in the
history of the Argentinian rock. Gritar Y Amar Es Luchar, with a labyrinthine
guitar progression (and eventual solo) - which seems to be walking behind the
whole song - is a fine example of the best kind of heavy prog pretty much in
synch with top Brit bands as Deep Purple, Warhorse, and Atomic Rooster
(actually the keyboardist Gabriel Ranelli has an approach very solid, and
visceral reminding of Vincent Crane). Harlem
brings together a loungy vibe spilled on a cerebral prog tapestry. Cadenas Y
Moneda is an outstanding blues experiment starting with a classical piano
approach, and going along in an imagistic guitar innuendo a la Peter Green at
his peak. Yo Soy Tu Voz and Alunar follow a prog-pop diatribe echoing 60's
artefacts. Finally, Chocolate (Para Ud.) is an expansive and invigorating

Gatefold. Melopea is one of most praised works by Litto Nebbia (the title of
this album, years later, would become the name of his record label and
production company). It is an elegant opus in songwriting, and perhaps one of
his most song-orientated creations. A subtle pop and prog overtones paint an
aura full of identity, and originality. The highlight is the presence of the
venerated orchestral conductor, guitarist, and composer Rodolfo Alchourron.
He was a master in fusing the tango with jazz and rock, and piloted the
amazing band Sanata Y Clarificación. Also, worthy mentioning, there are
lyrics of the renowned poet Mirta Delfipo. La Lección del Viajero is a beautiful folk song in a
dylanesque vein. Gloria y Guitarra and Augurio Del Silencioso have a peculiar
Brazilian overtones. Los Lunes de La Humanidad (intersected by shivering tango nuances),
Apelación De Otoño (a very moving interpretation) and the closing track
simply called Final ("Ending", what a chic finale) are enriched by
a flowering orchestration. Enjoy, then, a remastered and restored sui generis

Gatefold.Muerte En La Catedral, following other four solo Litto Nebbia's
albums, and his -then, fifth work under the Huinca alias (also re-released
now), is a consistent "outing" in his solo career. It has a
progressive ambience shining through it as well as a liaison with Argentinian
roots disposed with subtle lyricism. In songs like El Revolver Es Un Hombre
Legal and Mendigo De La Luna there's a jazzy-pop dressing a la Chicago, If,
Blood Sweat & Tears, and Rare Earth, which is a compliment to be taken
seriously. Señora Muerte works as an experimental space-folk. Vals De Mi
Hogar, as a complex folk trip. The floating vocals arrangements of Despedida
Del Trabajo Nro 2, wrap it up these special flavorured songs. Curiously, the
trio have an exquisite Brazilian spice recalling directly Clube Da Esquina,
the Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges masterpiece. On the gigantic title track,
the astute percussive organ meets guitar counterpoints, sounding perfectly
like a cross of Terry Kath (Chicago)
and Gary Green (Gentle Giant). The bonus track - never included on its
official vinyl release - Señora Vida recalls some of the best bits you can
find on the - back then - contemporary Italian Prog; i.e. Banco Del Mutuo
Soccorso and PFM. Above all, a very solid album, concise in its delivery, and

SAINT TROPEZ
Brazilian arranger and writer Hareton Salvanini was commissioned the
soundtrack for the 1973 film "A Virgem de Saint Tropez" and what a
fantastic job he did! This record could rival the best of KPM or Chappell
library LPs. 'Copacabana Rock' starts with some psychedelic vibes and then
evolves into a dancefloor bomb. 'Saint Tropez' is a rhythmic flute &
electric piano-laden track with wah-wah guitars a plenty. There is room for
some heavy tropical drumming on 'Perseguiçao' and 'Seios'. In need of some
soft bossa with dabadaba vocals? Just check 'Espairecendo', an exquisite cut
that sounds as if Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66 had been produced by Arthur
Verocai. While the jazzier and most experimental passages of the soundtrack
belong to the wonderful 'Sao Paulo'.

Antonin Artaud was a French poet, dramatist, and director and one of the most
important figures in 20th century European theater, and especially the
avant/garde. His piece -Pour En Finir Avec Le Jugement De Dieu- was recorded
in 1947 to be aired on French radio. But the project was shelved not only for
its scatological, anti/American, anti/religious content, but also for its
avant/garde sound, with screams, cries, grunts, glossolalia, and general cacophony,
all of which the radio thought would be too shocking for the listeners of
post/WWII France. Now regarded as one of his most brilliant works, the piece
is finally available again on vinyl courtesy of Fantôme Phonographique. Limited edition of 500 handnumbered copies.

ATOMIC MOLD - HYBRID SLOW FLOOD
The Atomic Mold are a band formed in January 2014 by an idea of Marco Fila
*Drum( and Antonio Bonizzato (Voice and Bass), after a few months Luca
Massella joined and in October they recorded the first homonymous album
(Atomic Mold). In March 2015 they recorded with the Germans Mount Hush a
split on 12@ for the Sarda label Electric Valley Records and in the same
month Luca left the band. For a whole year the Atomic Mold played live
throughout Italy
in the Bass and drums version, finding good success. In March 2016 Luca
re/entered the band and beyond Italy the live moves in Europe with Fatso
Jetson, Cosmic Dead, Black Tusk, Mothership and Zippo. During Luca-s many
absences, Antonio and Marco write the songs of the new album that sees its
first shots in January 2017, Luca leaves again and definitively the band and
after a few weeks enters his place as guitarist Davide Marotta with whom
there is immediately a good feeling and in June the band returns to the studio
and ends up recording @Hybrid Slow Flood@ again for Electric Valley Records.
The sound they propose, is mostly instrumental, choleric, psychedelic, with
some vocal invasion, which fits hysterically between granite notes.

together by their common love for soundtracks and Italian libraries of late
sixties/early seventies, the four members of La Batteria are well-known
musicians and veterans from the underground scene of the capital city, with
quite different experiences ranging from progressive post-rock (Fonderia),
indie-pop (Otto Ohm, Angela Baraldi), experimental jazz (I.H.C.), hip hop (La
Comitiva, Colle Der Fomento) and world music (the famous Orchestra di Piazza
Vittorio). The band performs original compositions informed by the type of
songwriting, very sought after in the heyday of the italian movie glamorama:
Music for images in the years between 1968 and 1980, with the likes of
experimental composers and masters at work Ennio Morricone, Stelvio Cipriani,
Alessandro Alessandroni, Bruno Nicolai and bands such as Goblin and I Marc 4.
All the instruments recorded are exclusively vintage, though the first self
titled album of La Batteria is not merely revival, but a welcomed result of a
sound/style projected into now. So, in between the lines of their cinematic
prog-funk you will detect traces of afro-beat, hip hop and kosmische music,
all filtered through a typical italian feeling. A record conceived in Roma,
in the same area and environment where those soundtracks and libraries were
made. The album was originally intended as a library for publisher Romano Di
Bari and his own Flipper Music (house of cult labels such as Deneb and
Octopus) and mastered in historical Telecinesound studio, property of
Maurizio Majorana, bass player for influential band I Marc 4. A continuity not only
with that sound-world, but with a whole movement that brought Italy
to the attention of the main foreign media, thanks to a correct balance
between art and craft. A great time for experimentation in the fields of
music, theatre, cinema and visual arts, a whole cultural revolution now
renewed. Even on a graphic note La Batteria discovers the same elements of
that magical short circuit between past and present, thanks to a very
cinematic logo designed by Luca Barcellona (aka Lord Bean) and a cover
artwork fully realized by Emiliano Cataldo (aka Stand) inspired by some of
the most cultish italian libraries.

Originally released on Initial Records back in 1997, BOYSETSFIRE-s debut
album -The Day The Sun Went Out- has been out of print for years, and is now
available again in a remastered and completely repackaged form through End
Hits Records. BOYSETSFIRE-s first full/length was an instant hardcore classic
and has since gone on to become a genre defining record that helped pave the
way for the popularity of the third wave of emo and post hardcore. Bands like
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, POISON THE WELL, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND or THURSDAY all
listed this raw piece of emotional hardcore as a major influence. Emotionally
and politically charged, heartfelt and honest / this marks the beginning of
BOYSETSFIRE-s astonishing international career. All elements of later
classics such as @After The Eulogy@ or @The Misery Index@ can already be
found here although way more unpolished as the albums that helped BOYSETSFIRE

BROWN
Barry Brown is one of the enigmatic roots reggae vocalists that rose up from
the sound system circuit and talent shows of western Kingston, which has always formed the
bedrock of Jamaican popular music. Horace Andy was an obvious vocal
influence, but Brown's phrasing was distinctly different, his slurring
interjections leaning towards the dancehall style of the future. During the
late 1970s, tons of material by the singer surfaced from recording sessions
for producers such as Bunny Lee, Sugar Minott, Carlton Patterson and the
Hookim Brothers at Channel One, and by 1980, Brown was also issuing
finely/crafted self/produced work. Vibes of Barry Brown, an album of deep
roots reggae, surfaced in limited quantity in 1981 via Sonic Sounds' Gorgon
imprint, the sub/label reserved for producers that lacked an established
label of their own, and although production is not specifically credited, the
album is likely self/produced work, since Brown is credited as sole
songwriter, just as he was on the self/produced Cool Pon Your Corner LP from
1980. The albums are stylistically similar too, with Brown singing over hard
roots rhythms, most likely laid at Channel One with the core of the Roots
Radics, and voiced and mixed at King Tubby's.

'THE ELECTRONICS" - ELECTRONIC MUSIC
Tom Dissevelt and Dick Raaymakers (aka Kid Baltan) were both Dutch composers
and electronic music pioneers. Both musicians began their studies at Royal
Conservatory of The Hague on trombone and piano respectively, and later
discovered the music of Karlheinz Stockhausen and Anton Webern. In the
mid/-50s Raaymakers began working at the Philips NatLab (the Dutch research
division of the Philips company). Dissevelt was recruited by the NatLab soon
after, and this is where they met, working on Philips stereo equipment and
electronics, and eventually composing electronic music and musique concrète
pieces together. Their first recordings in 1959 together, -The Fascinating
World Of Electronic Music-, set the tone of experimental synthesizer space
odysseys that would be perfected with their 1962 LP, -Electronic Music-,
released as The Electrosoniks. Cited by David Bowie as one of his favorite
albums of all/time, -Electronic Music- is a forward thinking collection of
bubbling synths and space/age atmospherics that is well ahead of its time.
Since Dissevelt and Kid Baltan were employed by a research lab to compose and
record electronic music, one might assume that the music would be soulless
and restrained, but the reality is quite the opposite this is joyous and
haunting and soulful music created by two undercelebrated Dutch pioneers who
are finally getting the credit they deserve. Essential pioneering electronic
music brought back to life by Fantôme Phonographique. Limited edition of 500 handnumbered copies.

On their album Oscillation Locust Fudge grab the roots of what later was to

FUDGE, but emerging in new forms, thus becoming something like their second

We came to know Massimo Martellotta via his band, CALIBRO 35, for which he
wrote some of their most famous songs, some recently sampled by Jay/Z, Damon

tenth anniversary since its birth. Now the composer and poly/instrumentalist
Massimo Martellotta announces the release in 5 volumes of his personal
project, realized in autonomy and solitude, playing all the instruments
present in his studio-laboratory in Milan.
One Man Sessions will be published periodically on vinyl by Cinedelic
Records, and the first of five volumes is titled SINTESI. This first chapter
was created and produced, composed and recorded using only analogue and
digital synthesizers, exploring the tonal possibilities and sound
manipulation, obtaining a result that on one side pays sacred monsters like
Wendy Carlos or Brian Eno, on the other hand is linked to a current trends
like the Stranger Things soundtracks or the latest productions by Nicholas
Jaar. Massimo-s solo work was then refined by Tommaso Colliva-s mastering and
completed by the highly elegant graphic design conceived and created by Luca
Barcellona. SHAWN LEE listened to it in advance and said> "Massimo

the classical instrument par excellence> the Piano. The instrument is at
the center of the scene, and the prepared Piano in the manner of John Cage is
here decontextualized and freely "In&Prepared@ and reinvented in a
very personal way, placing objects of common use on the strings themselves to
obtain unprecedented timbres. Starting from its nature as a percussion
instrument, the piano is hit, caressed, blocked with rubbers or left to resonate
on the capsule of a microphone, or else pinched like a harp or a cymbalon,
while it fires with the battery, the vibraphone or the mellotron. In
UNPREPARED PIANO we move from more classical compositions, quoting Chopin and
Satie (the opening piece @Come Un Notturno@) to introspective drones
("Risonanza@) to songs that hybridize the languages, delineating
immediate melodies and openings in balance between the absolute modernity of
Nils Frahm, the moving color imagery of Bad Plus (for example in @Sostenuto@)

and always recognizable flo conductor. An album where the piano is the

Hailing from the Dallas suburb Oak Cliff, The Penthouse 5 had its heyday in
1966/-67, when the band recorded a number of self/penned tunes and released
two 45s. Several recordings from 1967 and other, more psychedelic influenced
tracks remained unreleased, but demonstrate the musical versatility of the
band. In 1966 the group underwent a substantial line/up change when three of
the original band members, among them vocalist Rob Graham, left the group. He
was replaced by Jon Williams, who had previously been with the By Fives and
WordD. Alongside the Penthouse 5 recordings, the rare 7/inches of these
closely linked bands are all collected for this release. Additionally an
until now completely unknown 5/track -65 acetate rounds up this collection of
rare and lost recordings by one of the greatest local -60s bands from the
Lone Star State.

Ominously, Sunriders- aptly titled third release III opens with a spoken word
verse by local legend Frank Fish. That first minute is the perfect build up
for the twenty minutes of in your face stonerrock barrage that is to come.
III is a concept album based on the same mountain the band visited with their
first full length Fuzz
Mountain. On III, the
mystical mountain needs to defend itself from an assault by an evil wizard by
calling forth its ultimate trump card, the fire titans. In opening song -Call
of the Mountain-, the band showcases their greatest strengths> raw but
melodic vocals that both have a gut punching effect with mean ass guitar
riffs and solo-s. Accompanied by some great vocal harmonies and a thundering
rhythm section, this band delivers. The follow up -Exodus of the Fire Titans-
shows the band-s love for seventies rock and blues with a great vocal line
and some smooth riffs to accomplish a different but altogether fitting vibe
for the next chapter in their story. Nine minute closer -Supercell
Thunderstorm- sees the band returning to the climax of the story with a
vengeance. Luckily the band gave us time to recover from the first wave of
assault because this is a banger for sure. Since the release of Fuzz Mountain,
the band played numerous national shows and has been on an European tour,
supported by their Italian label. Not wanting to wait too long with a follow
up, the decision was made for an EP not leaving the fans lacking for new
material. The band looks forward to playing these new songs live, giving them
the perfect chance to let their audience know that the story about Fuzz Mountain
has a much wanted new chapter.

The ENDE VOM LIED compilation album was originally released as a CD in
conjunction with the exhibition "Voices of Dissent - Art in the GDR
1976/1989" held at Gropiusbau Berlin
in 2016. The vinyl version contains three additional songs&bands> Das
Problem "What's happen_", Neuntage alt "Tidal Wave" und
Die Frechheit "Abschied". ENDE VOM LIED} is a genre/spanning
collection of punk, post/punk and avant/garde bands from the former East
Germany, chronicling the work of free spirits pitted against government restraints
and implied genre limitations. The underground scene in the GDR was a hydra,
a noisy mix of musicians, poets, painters, photographers, filmmakers, punks
and freaks. In the immediate aftermath of the primal scream that was punk,
music often bred with poetry or painting in short/lived liaisons or enduring
collaborations to produce a new generation of genre bastards. With the lines
blurring between forms, a search for new shapes began. In the German
Democratic Republic, this search constituted a tightrope walk, a dance for

his colleague at Salon.com Charles Taylor named Please Panic his all/time
favorite album. In 1995, the Boatmen made their major label debut with
Opposite Sex, released in Europe on Blanco y
Negro&EastWest. It too received glowing reviews from the British press,
but label politics at Elektra kept the album from ever getting a stateside
release. In 2003, No Nostalgia issued Wide Awake, a 21/track anthology
chronicling the band-s career. The vinyl re/issues are limited to 500 copies
each and come in the original artwork. The albums have been partly re/mixed

BROWN, BARRY - VIBES OF BARY BROWN
Barry Brown is one of the enigmatic roots reggae vocalists that rose up from
the sound system circuit and talent shows of western Kingston, which has always formed the
bedrock of Jamaican popular music. Horace Andy was an obvious vocal
influence, but Brown's phrasing was distinctly different, his slurring
interjections leaning towards the dancehall style of the future. During the
late 1970s, tons of material by the singer surfaced from recording sessions
for producers such as Bunny Lee, Sugar Minott, Carlton Patterson and the
Hookim Brothers at Channel One, and by 1980, Brown was also issuing
finely/crafted self/produced work. Vibes of Barry Brown, an album of deep
roots reggae, surfaced in limited quantity in 1981 via Sonic Sounds' Gorgon
imprint, the sub/label reserved for producers that lacked an established
label of their own, and although production is not specifically credited, the
album is likely self/produced work, since Brown is credited as sole
songwriter, just as he was on the self/produced Cool Pon Your Corner LP from
1980. The albums are stylistically similar too, with Brown singing over hard
roots rhythms, most likely laid at Channel One with the core of the Roots
Radics, and voiced and mixed at King Tubby's.

las melodías del disco, profundizan en el particular universo de Davis.

momento vital de Shirley, como "Troubles ^ Trials", o que
desarrollan su mundo interior, como "Nightlife" o "Wishes ^
Wants". "Wishes ^ Wants" es un disco arriesgado, intenso,
comprometido y plagado de himnos. The Silverbacks han demostrado una vez más
que están a un nivel altísimo y Shirley Davis ha dado lo mejor de sí misma,
dejándose la piel en cada corte para brillar con la luz de una estrella. Diez
cortes que reflejan perfectamente el momento que vive la banda y sus ganas de
superarse.
