SPECIAL SPLATTER EDITION! Jonathan Richman's classic 'Egyptian Reggae' has been
responsible for setting thousands of discerning dance floors on fire. After
getting the obvious Jah twist on a few occasions, so we thought it was
about time for the Richman's song to receive a fun yet respectful cumbia
treatment! This cumbia candy has been recorded in Lima by no other than
Pancho Acosta, founder and guitarist of Compay Quinto, and one of the
greatest cumbia guitar players in Peru. On the flip side we find one of
Acosta's own original songs, 'Carnaval de Jujuy', recorded by Austin-based
future-cumbia group Money Chicha.

Salsa pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger Ray Pérez, acquired his
nickname "Loco" by being a free, independent spirit, an innovator and
iconoclast who was initially branded as "crazy" for the freshness and
audacity of his sound. These two hot tracks were released in the early 70s
and became instant dance floor fillers. First time 7" reissue of these
salsa and guaguancó gems.

El Alamo was a cult Peruvian psychedelic rock band that, as other groups in
Lima such as Laghonia, Traffic Sound and Telegraph Avenue did, sung in
English aiming to reach the international market. Their only LP was
released in 1971 and was recorded under the influence of Hendrix, Santana,
and The Allman Brothers. Unavailable for almost two decades, we are now
happy to reissue "Malos pensamientos" in its full glory, with gatefold
jacket, two bonus tracks taken from their rare 45, and an insert with liner
notes.

most sought-after Brazilian funk-soul albums from the early '70s. It
includes some outstanding uptempo gems like Marcos and Paulo Sergio Valle's

Gerson King Combo's 1977 album is a masterpiece of Brazilian soul, emerged

DDT was probably the earliest HC&punk band in Atlanta, Georgia. Nobody was
playing hardcore down there before DDT showed up on the scene. A year or
two later another band showed up *Neon Christ( and the two bands played
many times together. The band had in its lineup Rik Barr formerly of THE
STATE from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Greg Psomas of the legendary New York
City punk band Ism. This is their self produced 7" from 1983. You don't see
this one in the wild, but if you did it would cost you a lot of money. 5
songs here. From the ultra melodic Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, to quick
hardcore burst like Girls, Girls, Girls and Brave New World, to post
punkish/no waveish I'm Walking The Psychopath and The End that brings in

TST was an early punk band from Vasteras, an hour north of Stockholm, that

Theodore "Hound Dog" Taylor was born on April 12, 1917, in Natchez,
Mississippi. By day, he was a sharecropper; by night, he played the delta
jukes. In 1942, following a dangerous encounter with the Ku Klux Klan, he
high-tailed it out of the South to Chicago. There, he held a day job while
building his reputation as a musician, performing in South and West Side
blues clubs and on the streets. It wasn't until the late 50's that he
became a full-time musician, playing regularly at the Expressway Lounge.
Taylor developed a raw vocal style and blistering slide guitar technique,
using a cheap Teisco Del Rey guitar powered through a Sears Roebuck
amplifier. He also had a physical condition called polydactylism, which
resulted in an extra finger on each hand. Hound Dog Taylor first recorded
in 1960 for Bea and Baby Records, and again in 1962 for the Firma label.
The resulting 45s were his only releases during the 60's and these four
tracks are included on this record. As a bonus, we have added two tracks by
Mississippi-born, long-time blues veteran Homesick James, who, after
recording several 45s in the early 50's, didn't get another single released
until 1962. Both numbers feature Taylor on guitar. He died in December
1975, after releasing four albums on the Alligator label, leaving us his
own epitaph: 'When I die, they'll say, 'He couldn't play shit, but he sure
made it sound good!'. Strictly limited edition of 250 copies.

Back in stock !!!The Cramps waited four years after their top-notch A Date
with Elvis before releasing their next studio album. The result is,
unfortunately, one of the weakest platters in their canon. Most all the
songs here follow the same rockabilly-based formula of previous releases;
unfortunately, much of the group's usual fire is missing. Too many of the
selections (such as "Daisys Up Your Butterfly," "Everything Goes," "All
Women Are Bad," and a cover of "Muleskinner Blues") are cast in a moderate
jogging tempo, and the instrumental playing shows minimal song-to-song
contrast, lacking the manic craziness of their best work. Lux Interior's
vocals are comparatively reserved (though there are some exceptions, such
as the snarling cover of "Shortnin' Bread") and are often somewhat submerged
in the sound mix. Lyrics, too, are a bit tame by Cramps standards, the
major exception being "Mama Oo Pow Pow," which has gleefully tacky verses
about spanking and discipline that rival their most tasteless. "God Damned
Rock 'N' Roll" is, for all practical purposes, a middling parody of Bob
Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll." The biggest surprise is the atypically
soaring vocal on the better-than-average song "Journey to the Center of a
Girl."
