13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS - HEADSTONE
SESSIONS
This album contains the contents of
The 13th Floor Elevators' recording sessions for Contact Records in early
1966. On January 3rd 1966, the band taped both sides of their debut 45
'You're Gonna Miss Me' c/w 'Tried To Hide', which Contact released on January
17th. That same month the (on the 27th) The Elevators were busted for
possession of marijuana, and fearing that Texas' draconian drug laws could
imperil the band-s future, they felt the need to document their unique,
garage-infused brand of early psychedelia as a means to document their very
existence - at the time, possession of marijuana could result in a prison
sentence of 2-10 years. These recordings were, therefore, meant to be the
band's debut LP, which Tommy Hall titled 'Headstone'. The primal magic the
band were able to conjure is already in evidence, - all of which would
re-recorded for their debut LP proper 'The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th
Floor Elevators' later that same year.

'Smile' is the unfinished album by the
Beach Boys intended to follow their 1966 album Pet Sounds. the project came
to be regarded as the most legendary unreleased album in popular music
history. The album was produced and almost entirely composed by Brian Wilson
with Van Dyke Parks, both of whom conceived the project as a 'teenage
symphony to God' It was a concept album that was planned to feature word
paintings, tape manipulation, experiments with musical acoustics, themes of
youth and innocence, and comedic interludes, with influences drawn from
mysticism, pre-rock and roll pop, doo-wop, jazz, ragtime, musique concrète,
classical, American history, poetry, spirituality, and cartoons. A mythology
grew around the project, and its unfulfilled potential inspired many,
especially those in indie rock, post-punk, electronic, and chamber pop
genres.

BL'AST - MANIC RIDE
In June of 1988 the might BL'AST! went
into the studio with Black Flag's live sound GOAT: Dave Rat (Ratsound). The
result was the album 'Take The Manic Ride'. It was released by SST in 1989.
After the dust had settled the band was somewhat dissatisfied with the
production of the album and regret it ended up eternally haunting the band.
The massive intensity of the songs completely outmatched what the recording
ultimately captured. The master tapes were destroyed and were never to be
recovered. Through some incredibly magical surgery a new heavy as fuck
version of the album has been produced. Under the strict guidance of
mastering engineer Brad Boatright (who also remastered the other BL'AST!
albums re-released by Southern Lord) they now are beyond stoked to bring you
'Manic Ride'. A balls to the wall, in-your-face, revisionist version for the
modern age.

U.K. SUBS - FLOOD OF LIES
The fifth UK Subs studio album, from
1983, remastered. Album 'F' in the UK Subs A-Z series of albums. The album
came at a crossroads for the UK Subs. Punk had become unfashionable, and the
early line-ups had split leaving Charlie Harper to form a new band. He
enlisted early Subs bassist Steve Slack (who'd left before their first
recordings, replaced by his brother), drummer Steve Jones and guitarist
Captain Scarlet. Navigating between the UK Subs punk ethos and wider
accessible styles, with many songs co-written by Slack and Scarlet, Charlie's
lyrics reflected the current political paranoia of an Orwellian future,
alongside hedonistic punk tales of life lived and characters met along the
road. The album successfully led the band to embark on decades of world tours
and continue the now-legendary A-Z series of album

Belfast-based producer George Doherty formed Rip Off Records in 1978 to
showcase the emerging punk scene of this politically-divided city, then riven
by the factionalism of 'The Troubles.' Innovative compilation Belfast Rock
was the first to feature Belfast punk bands alongside hard rock outfits, most
notably legendary Belfast punk act The Detonators, whose sole appearances on
vinyl are included here, as well as Doherty's own band, The Jumpers (culled
from Pretty Boy Floyd & The Gems, who also feature). A must for anyone
interested in the history of punk, as well as Belfast's rock evolution.

was from Trinidad but Bryon Lee did bring him come to Jamaica as an organist

Rock Steady...Its Lyn Taitt as he was the man! He played lead guitar and Ska
at the same time"...Bunny Lee Rock Steady only lasted for a brief period
from 1966 to 1968,but its significance to the subsequent development of
Jamaican music is incalculable and it would go on to shape each successive
musical movement over the next four decades. Deejays,Digital and Dance hall
all stepped to the tune and pace of rhythms whose origins were grounded in
the Rock Steady beat and it is impossible to ever overstate its

Back in stock! The period of 1967 -
1968 when Rocksteady was in full flow, would also be a turning point for
Bunny 'Striker' Lee, when he became a producer in his own right. Many of the
great tunes during this eventful year came out of his stable and initially
saw the light of day on his own imprint label 'Lee's'. This album has been
assembled from some of those fine tunes and tells the story of reggae in what
was a stellar time for both reggae and Mr Bunny Lee. Edward 'Bunny' Lee later
to become known as triker' (b.23rd August 1941) got his introduction to
the music business around 1962 when his future brother in law singer Derrick
Morgan introduced Bunny to producer Duke Reid, who gave him a job as record
plugger for his Treasure Isle label. 1966 saw Bunny Lee move on to working
for producer Ken Lack who ran his own label Caltone. Bunny's first credit as
a producer was released on the label when he produced loyd Jackson and the
Groovers' with a tune called 'Listen To The Music'.

VARIOUS - ROCK STEADY COOL
Repress! Rock Steady Cool is another
fine collection of Rocksteady hits. The 'Cool' subtitle could not be more
relevant to an album, as around 1966, an extreme heatwave hit the Jamaican
island. This would not stop the all night dances from going ahead but the
jerky Ska Rhythms proved too strenuous of an activity to partake in, so a new
slower beat to suit this extreme weather had to be found and the ever
resourceful music entreprens came up with the slower paced beat and
Rocksteady was born.

números, «Cómo se arman las mujeres» y «El manejo del arma», eran tremendos y
marcaron el inicio de un proceso de transformación social. Poco a poco, la
mujer irá abandonando su papel de «ángel del hogar», y aquellas que no ponían
