BRAST BURN -
DEBON
Brast Burn are often linked with Karuna Khyal with many aficionados
concluding that they were actually the same band. Whether this is true or not
remains an unsolved mystery but one thing is for sure: Brast Burn's one and
only recorded outing left an indelible stamp on those who were to follow.
Nurse With Wound's Steve Stapleton thought highly of Debon and included it in
his "legendary list" that appeared on the sleeve of his bands 1979
debut album. Featuring orchestrated fuzz guitar, echo-drenched percussion,
reverbed bass, zithers, assorted taped sounds and vocals that are simply
inspired. An album thats a must for headphones and for devotees of the likes
of Faust and Can.
A rare musical experience and a vital addition to any record collection.

LIFE - LIFE AFTER
DEATH
This British rarity was produced by Chris White (formerly of The Zombies) and
features the talents if Ian Gibons, Ian Hunter, Ken Hensley and many others.
A dense mixture of hard rock and classic prog, with classy hooks and complex
instrumental interplay throughout, sadly it failed to attract the critical
acclaim it so richly deserved when it was originally released in the summer
of 1974. Nevertheless, this reissue is sure to appeal to all fans of obscure
progressive rock.

MUSHROOM
(IRELAND) - EARLY ONE MORNING
Original copies of this incredible album by Mushroom, the Dublin duo
consisting of Pat Collins (violin) and Joe ODonnell (everything else), fetch
hundreds of pounds on the rare occasions that they actually come up for sale.
Musically, Early One Morning, originally released in 1973 on the Hawk label
(HALPX 116) is a real one off, combining brilliant, heavy progressive rock
and psychedelic Irish folk, with blazing guitar leads battling with fiddle
attacks. The results are awesome, fully justifying the hefty price tag of an
original

TONTO'S EXPANDING
HEADBAND - ZERO TIME
Vinyl reissue. This groundbreaking album was recorded in New York by the
pioneering electronic duo of Robert Margouleff and Malcolm Cecil in 1971.
Described by Rolling Stone as "Something of a brilliant album" it
showcases a giant instrument they developed themselves, which they described
as the worlds first and largest multi-timbral polyphonic analog synthesizer.
Zero Time has gone on to be highly influential, not least of all on Stevie
Wonder, who collabroated with the duo on several of his more popular albums.

FLOWER TRAVELLIN'
BAND - MAKE UP (2CD)
When released in 1973, Makeup, with its incredible faux-leather imitation
attache case outer bag, looked every bit the last word in over-the-top
packaging and now originals, complete and in good condition, fetch hundreds
of dollars in the collectors market. Howver, despit the lavish packaging,
Makeup did little to enhance the groups already considerable reputation and
the various band members went their separate ways immediately after the
albums release. Although the album has been described as
"inconsistent" there are some definate stand-out tracks and
generally Makeup reflects the varied influences that the band drew on
throughout their sadly short career

FRACTION - MOON
BLOOD
Special 'card-wallet' edition. Featuring the original die-cut cover with
coloured cellophane and printed inner bag. 1000 only numbered limited
edition. When Moon Blood was originally released in 1971 only 200 copies were
pressed so originals are worth a small fortune. Fraction, with vocalist Jim
Beach bearing an uncanny resemblance to Jim Morrison (although he was singing
on Sunset Strip long before Morrison took to the stage), were often compared
favourably with the Doors, although their quasi-religious message would probably
not have found favour with the recently-departed Morrison. Indeed, this
rather fine record was once famously described as the album the Doors
probably wished theyd made! Underpinned by guitarist Don Swansons superb
Ritchie Blackmore-style guitar work, this is an album full of beautiful
psychedelia, acid and hard rock, at once emblematic of the era but not dated
by its association. The five original compositions are consistently of the
highest quality and the contribution of Beachs Morrison-esque vocals places a
stamp of originality on the recording that endures from beginning to end. A truly excellent album

MAKI, CARMEN
-& BLUES CREATION- - CARMEN MAKI & BLUES CREATION
Released at the same time as Demon And Eleven Children, the album the
beautiful Carmen Maki recorded with the band Blues Creation, this heavy rock
guitar monster reminds us that Eleven Children isnt the only heavy album from
this ensemble. Maki was probably one of the strongest voices of Japanese rock
and is featured here doing her finest Grace Slick impression and very well
too! Lots of brutal, non-stop wailing guitar but some mellow, bluesy
psychedelic rock numbers too. Maki went on to form her own band, Oz, but this
is the collaboration for which she will be best remembered. Highly recommended.

PETARDS - PET ART
This is the final album for the ground breaking rock band who evolved out of
the beat scene to become early originators of German Progressive Rock.
Featuring a diverse mixture of harmony pop, country boogie and polished heavy
psych -embellished with the Hendrix like guitar work of Bernd Wippich (who
would later join the band as a full time member)- the double album 'Pet-Art'
(Favorite Arts) was released in early 1971 and is easily the bands best work
including melodic favourites such as 'Baby Man' and 'Good Good Donna' as well
as the lengthy guitar and percussion driven work outs 'Flame Missing Light'
and 'Spectrum'.

RALLIZES DENUDES,
LES - DOUBLE HEADS (6CD)
Between August 1980 and March 1981, Les Rallizes Denudes (or The Naked
Larryz, as the long-lost acetate they are rumoured to have recorded for
Virgin Records in the mid seventies dubbed them) played seven concerts in and
around Tokyo. Never officially released, illicit ninth generation cassette
copies circulated in Japanese fan circles for many years, attaining a
whispered, Holy Grail status amongst initiates to the Rallizes cult. High
quality soundboard versions were finally released by the secretive Univive
label in 2005. Three of the best of these concerts are collected on Double
Heads, all recorded at Yaneura, a small club in the teeming neon teen
shopping mecca of Shibuya in Tokyo. Together these three concerts comprise a
singularly pivotal moment in Les Rallizes Denudes development - as well as
some of the most glacially psychedelic music of their long career.

REACTION
A very rare album by a German power trio from Hamburg. This gem of a heavy
rock record was recorded by Reaction before they disappeared into the mists
of time. Fans of Agnes Strange and Incredible Hog or even Black Sabbath will
love the primitive hard rock sound made on this storming album, reissued here
with its original cover art. Nine pieces of sludge heavy blues-rock-boogie in
the finest early 1970s tradition, with the stand outs being 'Mistreated' and
'Keep On Trying'.

Mighty Baby are one of the best-loved bands to have emerged from Britains
late 1960s underground, and this is the fullest live record of them in

driving psychedelia of their 1969 debut and the more contemplative sound of
their second and final album, A Jug Of Love. Its rounded off by two tracks
recorded at Glastonbury in June of the same year, and comes complete with a
booklet featuring rare images and notes from band members Ian Whiteman and

MOPS - EXIT
One of the inumerable bands to emerge from the post-Beatles Japanese tour of
1966 with Fab Four pretentions. The Mops were a Tokyo quintet led by drummer
Mikiharu Suzuki who had cut his musical teeth in a Ventures-style combo in
the previous spring. The line-up was augmented by the arrival of Suzuki's
older brother, Hiromitu, a lead vocalist with an Eric Burdon obsession who
added hugely to the bands fuzzy garage soul sound. Not just a Merseyside
homage turn, the Mops were a dedicated family whose love of garage rock and
the nascent psychedelia would help them to create some of the most urgently
deranged and muscially disruptive music of the entire Group Sounds era. Exit,
the a live recording, features in its entirety the bands 1974 last concert at
Nakano San Plaza. Side 1: 1. Introduction 2a) Walk Dont Run b) House Of The

The brainchild of 23 year-old writer / guitarist Dale Menten, The House Of

that tell the story of the productions ill-fated move to New York in 1970.

BLUES CREATION -
DEMONS AND ELEVEN CHILDREN (UK)
Blues Creation was formed by guitarists Kazuo Takeda, Koh Eiryu and singer
Fumio Nunoya, in early 1969, after the dissolution of their Group Sounds
outfit The Bickies. Highly influenced by Cream and The Yardbirds, Takeda
joined forces with school friends Takayuki Noji, Shinichi Tashiro, and lead
singer Fumio Nunoya. Formerly vocalist with Taboo, a heavy band led by future
Happy End guitarist Eiichi Otaki, Nunoya was also searching for an even
heavier sound, and the results of the new American-influenced experiment were
released in October 1969, as Blues Creation. Singer Fumio Nunoya soon found
himself edged out of artistic decisions by the supremely confident Takeda,
and thereafter left to form his own band Dew. Whilst searching around
throughout 1970 for a new singer, guitarist Takeda heard the new even more
strung out music of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Eric Claptons solo LP
CLAPTON, and Leslie Wests Mountain, and decided he should take the
opportunity to start again from scratch. Takeda enlisted bassist Masashi
Saeki and drummer Akiyoshi Higuchi for the new line-up, and eschewed the
previous covers style in favour of his own compositions. With the new Blues
Creation fronted by singer Hiromi Osawa, Kazuo Takeda recorded what has come
to be regarded as his masterpiece in the form of DEMON & ELEVEN CHILDREN.
This album was recorded at the Japan Folk Jamboree, and is a full-on gem of a
record, but Takeda was now widely known as a true Japanese guitar hero, and -
as ever - had set his sights higher and higher. He split Blues Creation the
following year, leaving for London in late 1972.

BRAST BURN -
DEBON (PHOENIX)
Brast Burn are often linked with Karuna Khayal with many aficionados
concluding that they were actually the same band. Whether this is true or not
remains an unsolved mystery but one thing is for sure: Brast Burns one and
only recorded outing left an indelible stamp on those who were to follow.
Nurse With Wounds Steve Stapleton thought highly of Debon and included it in
his "legendary list" that appeared on the sleeve of his bands 1979
debut album. Featuring orchestrated fuzz guitar, echo-drenched percussion,
reverbed bass, zithers, assorted taped sounds and vocals that are simply
inspired. An album thats a must for headphones and for devotees of the likes
of Faust and Can. A rare musical experience and a vital addition to any
record collection.

CAESAR, J.A. -
JASHUMON
"This mighty soundtrack for Shuji Terayama's nihilistic movie of the
same name contains all the elements necessary to reach J.A. Caesar's intended
pleasure centres. Here, turmoil, mind-numbing repetition, abject misery and
grisly partriarchs abound, and all orchestrated by Caesar's damaged
proto-metal and choral-led psychedelic sound. Mind-infesting in the truest
sense, this soundtrack played in the dark is as certified a Gateway to the
Underworld as any acknowledged classic by Faust, Magma, the Cosmic Jokers,
Ash Ra Tempel or early Amon Düül." Julian
Cope/Japrocksampler.

CAESAR, J.A. -
KOKKYOU JUNREIKA
Tokyo playwrite, director and artist J.A. Caesar sprang to prominence in the
early 70s largely through his work with Shuji Terayamas Tenjo Sajiki Theatre,
specialising in vaguley sinister music reminiscent of a Hammer House Of
Horrors soundtrack. The Kokkyou Junreika release, often considered Caesars
finest work, was culled from the 5 hours of music written for the original
play distilled down to an albums worth of ageless chants, Buddhist mantras,
heavenly invocations and fuzztone guitar vamps supported by Caesars droning
electric organ and the eerie female vocals of Yoko Ran, Keiko Shinko and
Seigo Showa. An album that sits comfortably alongside early Ash Ra Temple,
Cosmic Jokers and ATEM-period Tangerine Dream. Those that like their music
with a healthy dose of gloom, look no further!

COMFORTABLE CHAIR
- COMFORTABLE CHAIR
Best-known for having been discovered and produced by members of The Doors,
this Californian septet made some of the finest psychedelic pop / rock of the
late 1960s, and stand up well alongside better-known contemporaries such as
Jefferson Airplane, It's A Beautiful Day, Sweetwater and the Peanut Butter
Conspiracy. Their sole album was first issued in late 1968, and though they
were acclaimed at the time as an extraordinarily relaxed and relaxing bunch
to listen to, they split when it failed to sell.

DEEP - PSYCHEDELIC
MOODS (UK)
Recorded in a darkened Philadelphia studio in August 1966, this
groundbreaking album by a studio group featuring Rusty Evans was the first to
have the word 'psychedelic' in its title. Through the years it became
well-established as a pioneering acid classic. Presented here in both its
mono and stereo mixes (which have important differences), and with background
notes and two rare bonus tracks, it still sounds truly unique and is a must
for all fans of genuine and relevant American psychedelia.

FAR EAST FAMILY
BAND - TENKUJIN
Fifth and final release by Far East Family Band (if you include the 1973s
Nihonjin released under the Far Out banner), Tenkujin was the first of the
bands albums to be released in the US on the small and short-lived
Calfornian-based All Ears label. Without Kitaro, who by this time had
departed to persue a solo career, the band reverted to its earlier
balled-based sound, this time supported on drums by former Samurai alumnist
Yujin Harada. The expected Pink Floyd influences appear in abundance,
although this time the songs are sung partly in English and in Japanese.
Another solid album from what many consider to be Japans finest new
age/psychedelic group.

FLIED EGG - DR.
SIEGEL'S FLIED EGG SHOOTING...
Flied Egg, consisting of former Strawberry Path alumnists Shigero Narumo and
Hiro Tsunoda, supported by former Brush leader, Masayoshi Takanaka, released
two albums in the early 70s, Dr Siegels Fried Egg Machine being the first and
undoubtedly the better of the two. Dr Siegels is a much more
keyboard-orientated affair, with Narumo adding a Moog, celeste and
harpsichord to his usual Hammond and piano lineup. On Dr Siegels the musical
influences are more Uriah Heep than the previous Hendrix-inspired leanings,
although touches of ELP, Deep Purple, Birth Control and even Black Sabbath
find their way into the musical melange. A rich selection of musical styles,
culminating with Guide Me To The Quietness, a glorious prog epic that brings
an inventive and enjoyable album to a climactic finale.

FLOWER TRAVELLIN'
BAND - MADE IN JAPAN (UK)
Following critical acclaim but meager record sales in their native Japan of
the bands superb debut album, Satori, Yuya Utchida and his Flower Travellin
Band decamped to Canada following an invitation to open for local jazz-rock
outfit Lighthouse. While there, Lighthouse leader and keyboard player Paul
Hoffert offered to produce the bands next studio album, the ironically-titled
Made In Japan although it must be said, Hofferts musical vision didnt always
reflect the bands. However, Utchida was particularly happy with the results
although again critical acclaim didnt translate into significant record sales
and the band duly parted company following their half-live half-studio
release, Makeup.

melodic songs, psychedelic guitar and orchestrations by famed arranger Bergen

GREEN (70'S) - TO

One of the most unjustly-neglected bands of their time, Green got together at
North Texas State University in the late '60s, and released a stunning
psych-pop debut in 1969. Their largely-overlooked second LP first appeared in
September 1971, and makes its long-overdue CD debut here. A classy
combination of rock and roll and ballads, with acid-tinged guitar and
tasteful horns, it comes across as an idiosyncratic amalgam of the Beatles,
the Zombies and Buffalo Springfield, making it a must-have for fans of
classic '60s psychedelia and early 1970s rural rock.

MAGICAL POWER
MAKO - SUPER RECORD
Super Record, the second of Magical Power Mako's 20-plus recordings, is
considered by those that know to be his finest, combining as it does strong
elements of Japanese folk music alongside innovative psychedelic sounds and
broad musical vistas of extraordinary imagination. Mako was born in Shuzeni
Izu in Japan in 1956, and after commencing his musical education at a young
age, making his first public performance in 1973 at the age of 16 with his
band Genge in the famous Shibuya club. Based on these impressive public performances,
the precocious Mako was invited to play with one of Japan's foremost
contemporary composers, Toru Takemistu, playing alongside the composer in 3
film scores, Inheritance For The Future, Petrified Forest and Himiko. The
response to his performances was overwhelmingly enthusiastic, elevating Mako
to almost god-like status in his native country. Mako's music has often
baffled pundits keen to place him in a particular musical slot. As one
perplexed scribe opined "Makos music possesses a certain strange kind of
texture. It is certainly what they call rock, but contains elements we cant
describe so succinctly. It clearly goes beyond the various genres of music
and while full of them all, it sends forth a fierce glow". Another
critic wrote "Adding to the variety of folk music from India, Turkey and
Russia, his mandolin or Taisho koto, and especially his
marvellously-performed guitar, expresses fully the odour of the soil and
mankinds universality".

MELCHIOR ALIAS
This French-Canadian ultra-rarity makes its long-overdue CD debut here.
Originally issued in 1969, its a crazed blend of catchy pop, funky grooves

enigmatic Melchior Alias remains unknown, but numerous leading lights of
Quebecs progressive music scene are involved, including arranger and future
disco luminary Denis Lepage and engineer Peter Tessier (later to make his own
rare album). It seems likely that the credit for Robert Goulet as musical
director is a joke - but anything seems possible on this most strange and

Mighty Baby are firmly established as one of the best-loved underground bands
in British rock history. Combining elements of blues, folk, jazz and
psychedelia, their unique brand of experimental rock and roll is brilliantly
captured on these rare recordings, finally given an official release here.
Three tracks were captured live at a gig supporting US legends Love in March
1970, while the remainder were taped soon afterwards at Londons Olympic
Studios. Finding the band midway between the blazing psychedelia of their
self-titled November 1969 debut and the mellower sounds of their October 1971
swan song A Jug Of Love, the set comes complete with sleevenotes, rare
photographs and an introduction from their bassist, Michael Evans, making it

The line-up was augmented by the arrival of Suzukis
older brother, Hiromitu, a lead vocalist with an Eric Burdon obsession who
added hugely to the bands fuzzy garage soul sound.
Tracklisting 1. Introduction 2a) Walk Dont Run b) House Of

RALLIZES DENUDES,
LES - CABLE HOGUE
Another crucial release from the highly influential and reclusive Japanese
psychedelic noise band, Les Rallizes Desnudes. Originally formed in 1967, the
band was known for its ties to avant-garde theatre groups (as typified by
Shuji Terayama's troupe) and leftist political groups, and their
feedback-drenched live shows and use of strobe lights and mirror balls
onstage earned them comparisons with the Velvet Underground. In 1970 bass
player Moriaki Wakabayashi was involved in the hijacking of Japan Airlines
Flight 351 orchestrated by the Japanese Red Army. Singer Takashi Mizutani was
allegedly offered a role in the hijacking but turned it down. Cable Hogue is
a CD release compiled by Mizutani from the original tapes he used for the
Rallizes video which was released in 1992.

RALLIZES DENUDES,
LES - GREAT WHITE WONDER (4CD)
As news of the new rock music made it to Japan from the UK and the USA -
mostly via rock magazines and music papers, with most LPs tough to find even
on import - something was lost in translation that allowed it to mutate well
beyond its original remit. Rallizes took rock music at its word while
visioning it as both unnecessarily complicated and too stupid by far. In
doing so they formulated an inspirational blueprint that would go on to have
a marked effect on everything that came after them in Japanese underground
music. It's a music thats as loose as it is uptight, as sophisticated as it
is punk-primitive, as radical as it is simplistic. As the old ESP-Disk banner
used to promise, truly, you never heard such sounds.

RALLIZES DENUDES,
LES - MARS STUDIO 1980 (4CDBOX)
The best-known studio recordings by Les Rallizes Denudes is the legendary
Mars Studio sessions from 1980. The tracks were laid down during the tenure
in the group of guitarist Fujio Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi is one of the more
notorious figures in the Japanese rock underground. He was born to a Japanese
mother and a black British father, brought up in a reformatory before
channeling his anger and energy into a series of rock bands including Group
Sounds garage rockers The Dynamites and proto-glam stompers Murahachibu.
Yamaguchi's soujourn in Rallizes lasted just over a year, from early 1980 to
March 1981, but the weightless, languid weird-form blues created by the
meshing of Mizutani's billowing feedback and Yamaguchi's acid-etched lines
has been regarded by many Japanese fans as one of the groups peaks. The
fourth disk in the set comprises a live show from the same period as the
studio recordings. Recorded on September 11, 1980 at the Yaneura club in the
Shibuya district of Tokyo, this show was previously released under the title
Double Heads September, though it was not included in the Double Heads 6CD
document of Fujio's tenure in the group.

SCOTT, ROBIN -
WOMAN FROM THE WARM GRASS
When Robin Scott's electro anthem Pop Muzik hit no.1 in the US in 1979, few
could have guessed that his debut had appeared on an obscure English
underground label a whole decade earlier, with backing from psychedelic
legends Mighty Baby. Now, with vinyl copies changing hands for hundreds of
pounds, it's finally available on CD for the first time, featuring bonus
tracks, rare photographs and comprehensive liner notes and showing itself to
be a lost gem of British acid folk. "Tender mood pieces, vast open land,
beach and seascapes with all their inherent imagery of desolation and sad
loneliness. Soothing, sweet and occasionally really hot" - Rolling Stone
"Folk-rock with psychedelic touches that is very rare and much
sought-after" - The Tapestry Of Delights. "Thoughtful, earnest,
acoustic guitar-led folk ballads - some are beautiful, a few are almost in
the Nick Drake league. The Sailor is folk-pop in structure and effortlessly
pure pop in its effect, The Purple Cadger is a wonderful world salad of epic,
Dylanesque proportions and Penelope is the majestic masterpiece of Robin Scott's
early work, seven minutes of bliss" - Sweet Floral Albion.

SEA STONE -
MIRRORED DREAMS
Originally released on the tiny Plankton label in a tiny run in 1978, this
British quartets sole album was recorded over the preceding five years.
Containing some intense jams with searing guitar leads from leader Simon Law,
it is widely regarded as one of the best albums to have emerged from the
1970s Christian rock scene, and makes its long-awaited return to CD here.

SECOND HAND -
REALITY (CARD WALLET)
Sunbeam Masters release nr 2. CD housed in special Cardwallet. An

top-notch songwriting with vicious guitar, swathes of mellotron and dense
arrangements, to unique and unsettling effect. Sunbeam's long-awaited
official reissue includes comprehensive liner notes, rare photographs and two
bonus tracks, making it a must-have for lovers of true British psychedelia.
"This still holds its ground after 38 years. Its unusual mix of poetic

SOUND OF FEELING
- UP INTO SILENCE
Up Into Silence gathers together the complete works of one of the most
far-out vocal groups of all time. Touching on jazz, pop, psychedelia and the
avant-garde, musical adventurers Gary David and the Andrece twins forged a
truly new and other-worldly form of music in late 1960s LA. Assisted by
renowned players including Oliver Nelson, Emil Richards and Paul Beaver, the
recordings encompass astounding originals, radical interpretations of
standards by artists such as Donovan and Paul Simon, and settings of
well-known poems. The set comes complete with a booklet featuring rare
photographs, detailed notes by Gary David and five previously-unheard bonus
tracks from 1971.

STELLE DI MARIO SCHIFANO, LE - DEDICATO A LE
STELLE DI MARIO...
...Schifano'.
Mario Schifano was a leading Italian pop artist, and a friend of the Rolling
Stones and other prominent 1960s counter-cultural figures. Inspired by Andy
Warhols association with The Velvet Underground, in 1967 he decided to
sponsor a band. The album that resulted combines a lengthy improvisation with
five shorter, psychedelic-influenced tracks, and is a landmark in the
development of Italian rock. Pressed in tiny quantities, it was released in
November 1967 (with artwork designed by Schifano), and original copies have
sold for thousands of euros, making this long-awaited CD reissue especially
welcome.

STRAWBERRY PATH -
WHEN THE RAVEN HAS COME TO EARTH
Another lost gem for lovers of Japanese psych and hard rock, this time from
the inspirational 70s prog outfit, Strawberry Path From its extremely cool
front cover to the last track, this is an album that will appeal to garage
fans, psych heads, mondo music lovers and acid freaks alike, merging as it
does a variety of Western influences, ranging from Jimi Hendrix (check out
Shigeru Narumos hard psych guitar) to Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep
Purple. Originally relased in 1971, Strawberry Path were the forerunners of
Japanese Flied Egg, one of the most influential Japanese prog bands to emerge
in the '70s. This is hard psych rock at its best, and an album which has
soared in value over the last few years.

UCHIDA, YUYA
-& THE FLOWERS- - CHALLENGE!
Following his self-imposed exile in Britain, soon-to-be FTB leader Yuya
Uchida embarked on the task of creating a hand-picked band in the hope of
achieving a home-grown outfit to rival groups hed been listening to in
London. Legendary guitarist Hideki Ishima was his first recruit, followed by
steel guitarist Katshiko Kobayashiand then the bravest move of all, the
beautiful vocalist Remi Aso was asked to front the band, now named The
Flowers. The bands debut LP completely changed the Japanese musical scene,
featuring as it did, hard covers of Big Brother, Cream and Airplane songs,
and its ground-breaking cover, featuring the bands members, including Miss Aso,
naked in a cornfield, changed the musical landscape for ever.

BLITZING THE BALLROOM
As the 70s took hold of the UK, the colourful expectations of the 60s had all
but faded away. The Op Art, the psychedelics & the Victorian militria had
been replaced by the greys and browns of geometric wallpaper, the three day
week and the oh-so dull Heath/Wilson pendulum. Splashing a much-needed burst
of posterpaint colour around came the movement which was to be known as Glam
Rock. No one minded that its chief protagonists had been round the block a
few times before. Marc Bolan, Gary Glitter, Alvin Stardust, Mud, The Sweet,
Roy Wood & Slade had all been stomping around with varying degrees of
success for many years. Tottering precariously around on silver platforms,
made up like provocative pantomime dames, playing a strange drum-heavy
confection based on Rock & Roll mixed with nursery rhyme pop simplicity,
the pop world had its sparkling alternative to the head-nodding complexity of
the double concept album. Heres a collection of splendid Glam obscurities,
all laced with a harder edge, as if to prove that, should the need ever
arise, these artistes could more than match their progressive counterparts
for rock sensibility. And who said tank tops were a thing of the past?

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the "swinging sixties" an
increasing number of young men (and women) were picking up their guitars and
drums and heading for the ferry to cross the channeland seek adventure on the

BREAKING POINT
So here we all are once again, gathered around the notional Dansette. A
tottering stack of vinyl awaits our investigation. Is it gear or is it
grotty? Fear not, for we do not have the burden of uncertain critique thrust
upon us. All the sounds presented within have passed aural muster, and are
straining to enthral the listener. This new collection of prime Beat comes
mostly from the UK, though there are a couple of excursions into Europe.
Unearthed, dusted down and shoved frugging into the spotlight we have a top Liverpool
band recording under a pseudonym, a British soap star, a Dutch outfit who
briefly featured a future UK prog rock superstar, and a band of hard-rockin
sailors, plus a whole lot more. Track Listing: 1. LIVERPOOL FIVE: Im Not Your

DAYS, VOL. 1-6 (6CD/OTHERSID
A Compendium of Pop Psych Curios: 104 tracks of weird and wonderful British
pop-sike. Contained herein is a library of lost and rare recordings from the
Great British psychedelic era; a compendium of pop-sike curios and exotic
aural pleasures from the past has been assembled for the connoisseur with
regard to the ladies and gentlemen of particular fancy and grand distinction.
It was 1966 - music was becoming richer, subtler, more experimental, far more
interesting. The industry got into gear and a myriad of one-off records came
tumbling out. Some were plain tongue-in-cheek joke psychedelia, whilst others
were creating something magnificent. Thats what you have here: 104 tracks,
all remastered, the cream of the crop circle, some wacky, like Peter Cook
& Dudley Moore on Bedazzled - from the film that caught the spirit of the
era (A sample lyric: Girl: "You drive me wild." Guy: "You fill
me with inertia.") Other gems come from the unearthing of one-offs.
Recorded in a swathe of bouncy, all-you-need-is Pop-pirate good humour, and a
floppy hat innocence, the flood of summer-fun, go-go goodies lasted until the
early 70s. While the 'real' groups became ever more laid back (some almost
horizontal), pop-sike flourished. And finally, theres a smattering of curious
Mystery Tracks throughout. This is the OFFICIAL box set, with original sleeve
artwork faithfully re-produced and sanctioned by the original Strange
Happenings label. Fantastically entertaining, in-depth, well-researched
56-page book written by the founder of cult label Dig The Fuzz, with rare,
never-before-seen photos of the artists

ELECTRIC SOUND SHOW, VOL. 2
Subtitled: 'In King Solomons Minds' .This eagerly anticipated second volume
in the Electric Sound Show series illuminates a cast of ultimately rare and
obscure sounds from long-forgotten bands lost in the magical myriad of 1960s
psychedelic Britain! Amongst the delightful and handsomely absurd recordings
are Essex pre-Rubettes psychedelic outfit, 1984, a lost pop-psych
gem from The Herd, Englands experimental armed forces The Motives, whose rare
E.P. a lost jewel of UK psychedelia, is revealed here in its glorious
entirety. Plymouths post-Betterdays folk-psych outfit, Clown, show their
psychedelic intentions prior to their lone CBS single, Boltons R&B
cohorts, the Atlanta Roots go for the jugular with their Beatle-esqe Plastic
Daffodils whilst The Meek get caught up in the technicolour phenomenon with
an absurd salute to psychedelia all of their own. If all that wasnt enough to
initiate your immediate salivation, Electric Sound Show Volume Two also
highlights a previously unreleased demo from Gary Walker & The Rains
legendary No.1 LP. This compilation offers the lucky listener an assault on
the everyday senses in terms of experimental music with psychedelic pop and
strangeness abound! Twenty-five tracks, the majority of which are previously
unreleased and unavailable anywhere else aside from crumbling acetates and
dusty tapes. Fully re-mastered with many previously unpublished photographs
and memorabilia complete with expansive liner notes telling an otherwise
untold story. Puff on that in your peace pipe!! TRACK LISTING 1. Tropical

EVERYBODY JIVE TO THE LONDON ROCK
25 Jumpin' British rock'n'roll spins. In the mid 1950s, while the Western
World was still immersed in the aftermath of World War Two, a new concept was
discovered. This concept, stroppy and rebellious, was the teenager. Up till
then you were a child until you became an adult. One minute you were in short
pants, the next you were smoking a pipe. Now there was an intermediary stage,
during which you could experience the nascent pleasures of adulthood without
having to succumb to its more mundane disciplines. These new teenagers needed
new idols. They couldnt relate to the polite swing of the dance bands. Some
found modern jazz a bit too esoteric, while, to be honest, the heart-throbs
of the early 50s mostly looked like they were in their early 50s! Suddenly a
wild, new sound from the USA was being broadcast over select airwaves.
Singers with exotic names like Jerry Lee, Elvis, Buddy and Gene were
strutting their stuff. Hollywood was beginning to embrace this movement, and,
over in The UK, jazzmen, dance band members, crooners and hopeful kids were
suddenly buying guitars, greasing back their hair and rockin like there was
no tomorrow. Heres a selection of what was happening in the basements and
coffee bars of Britain at that most wonderful and innocent of times. Weve got
lids to be flipped, joints to be rocked and rugs to be cut. So what are you

FAIRYTALES CAN COME TRUE, VOL. 1
Welcome to Psychic Circle's first volume of enchanting UK popsych; 20
previously uncomped tracks amongst which you'll find the pre-Fairport Iain
Matthews, the only single from Jackie Lomax's Lomax Alliance, Gallagher &
Lyle's unique response to 'Pet Sounds' & a Trogg-like gem from P.J.
Proby's hairdresser! Compilers and collectors alike know that there was some
wonderful music coming out of the UK in the late 60s and it wasn't all-out
psychedelia or floor-filling blueeyed soul. Sure, all these tracks have a
psychy feel, and some of them would pack a dancefloor, but really they're
more concerned with harmony and pop sensibility. So we're delighted to
present 20 dazzling tracks from the UK late 60s scene. All very melodic and
refreshing. 1. THE PYRAMID: SummerOf Last Ye a r 2. LOS BRAVOS: Bring A

FAIRYTALES CAN COME TRUE, VOL. 2
Psychic Circle are proud to present another 20 sparkling, pink icing-covered,
popsike confections previously uncomped on CD. Our Fairytales Can Come True
collection visited the melodic, pop side of British and European psych, and
met with a really positive response, so what could we do but offer up another
trayful of sweet refreshment. Delve into the froth and you will find The
Merseys operating under a pseudonym, an obscure Cat Stevens-composed
weird-out, popsters Peter & Gordon showing that psychedelia had not
passed them by, beat legend Sean Buckley with a new name, an unknown Oak
version of a Deram gem, plus a host of similar pleasures. This is Fairy Cakes
For Tea. Let it work its magic upon you. TRACK LISTING: 1. CRACKERS: Honey Do

UNDER: MALE VOCAL
Subtitled: 'The Golden Age of The Beat Balladeer'. After enjoying countless
compilation albums of psych, beat, garage, girl groups, instrumentals, soul,
exotica etc, it struck me that Id hardly ever seen any comps which
concentrated on that most popular of sixties phenomena, the British male
vocalist. I was thinking of great tracks and performances that could not
really be considered beat, soul or psych, but at the same time conjured a
similar sort of mental image. Solid, classy songs performed by great singers which
readily evoke the sense of excitement and freshness prevalent in that decade.
What I was trying to assemble for this album was a selection of quality male
vocal, with a kind of pop/beat feel. The kind of thing you might have heard
in any London discotheque alongside the beat groups, the Stateside
soulsounds, the groovy girls and burgeoning psych riffs. Nothing too MOR or
fey, just cool guys doing what they did best. I reckon its a long overdue
examination of a hitherto overlooked genre. It doesnt really need a label,
but if you want to give it one, just file under: male vocal. Track Listing:
1. MICKEY CLARKE: Help Me 2. JASON CORD: Ive Got My Eye On You 3. GERRY
DEVILLE: You Never Tell Me 4. DOMINIC GRANT: Dont Stop Girl 5. NICHOLAS
HAMMOND: I Cant Stop Myself 6. CHRISTIAN WARD: The Face Of Empty Me 7. GRAHAM
BELL: How Do You Say I Dont Love You Any More 8. JERRY PAGE: Empty My Heart
9. DANE HUNTER: Too Late 10. BRIAN KEITH: When The First Tear Shows 11. KEITH
POWELL: Song Of The Moon 12. DON ADAMS: That Feeling Is Gone 13. NEIL LANDON:
I Still Love You 14. GREG HUNTER: Five O Clock World 15. DAVE WALTON: Tell Me
A Lie 16. DANNY STREET: Can I Go 17. DORIAN GRAY: Move On 18. RUDI BENNETT:

Its been some time since we examined the crazed cave paintings of US 60s
Garage, but now were back with a skull-clubbin, hair-pullin, loin -cloth full
of spear-hurlin fury. As far as we can ascertain, none of these little beasts
have previously appeared on CD compilations, so sit back and be pummelled
into submission. Hopefully youll find some new pleasures within. First came
fire, then came the wheel, and then came Garage. Youll hear a child actor get
very strange, a slab of evil fuzz from a bunch of French Canadians, a
Cleveland DJ going all psychedelic on record, plus a whole lot more. Its
primitive. but its beautiful. Track Listing: 1. GROUP AXIS: Smokestack

Welcome one and all to a brand new compilation of British and European
pop-based psychedelia. Whimsical and hazy, also melodic and hummable, but
with an omnipresent lysergic undercurrent. Weve visited this Neverland twice
before, and due to the great response from our fellow travellers, were going
back for yet another trip. This time youll meet a suitably freaked-out Irish
showband, an American band transported to Paris, a family band from Fulham, a
Scottish supergroup in the making, plus a whole lot more. The many-hued
charabanc is fuelled and ready to depart. Climb aboard, wrap your paisley
travel rugs around your vertically striped hipsters and Lets Ride. Track

CD, and undoubtedly one that will encourage collectors & creators alike
to explore the lost world of strange recordings. Another great set of rare
tunes from the 70s -- a mother lode of cuts with lots of strings, fuzzed out
guitars, sexy eastern-esque tabla-clarinet duets, sitar, Hammond organs and
even steel drums. Cover tune award on this one goes to The Soulful Strings
for their sitared and feathered version of the Beatles Within You Without
You. This album is a must for fans of Vampyros Lesbos and sundry other erotic
soundtracks, as well as just general musical weirdness! Tracklisting: 1. The

COMES EASY, VOL. 1
Over the past 20 years there have been countless compilations of prime, raw
British Beat. Many of these have featured tracks that have appeared several
times already. This might give the impression that this particular well has
run dry. I will admit that the gushing torrent of undiscovered pure R&B

enough there are still some untapped reserves of top quality beat waiting to
be unearthed. Nothing Comes Easy is a compilation of 20 such gems, previously
uncomped on CD. Some of these bands may be familiar to you as they have
appeared on other collections era of this genre, some have never, as far as

HEARTBREAKER
Welcome, dear listener, to a world of arrows, targets and multiple rearview
mirrors. Racing on big sisters slimming pills and having spent more than is
advisable on tight fitting mohair suits, sharp hairstyling and two wheel
Italian transport, how can a poor suburban soulboy kick back and relax? And
relax, in this context, does not mean sitting comatose in an armchair. It
means forgetting about the office dress code, the factory clocking in and out
machine, and the looks of disapproval as you swan down Wardour Street. Heres
how..cerebrally ingest the sounds on this CD and move yourself accordingly.
The UK and European soul treatments are sure to satisfy any rhythmic
cravings. Youll hear an old South London mate of David Bowie, a sweet Irish
colleen getting very groovy, one of Swedens coolest combos, a great South African
soulstress, Nottinghams top soul band, Madeleine Bell working under a
pseudonym and lots more. So as the Wicked Pickett once advised; dont fight
it. tracklisting: 1. DAVE HUNTER: Shes A Heartbreaker 2. TINA HARVEY: Nowhere

GOLDEN ROAD
A little while back we took a journey into that time when American folk music
discovered electric rock and pop. The result was The Electric Coffee House
compilation. That turned out to be one of our most successful albums, so
consequently weve been having another delve into that hallowed region of
chiming guitars, righteous harmony and garage joy. Once again, were delighted
to present an intriguing selection of obscurities, some primitive, some
sophisticated, some psychedelic, some full of pop sensibility, but all of it
with an essential, omnipresent undercurrent of folk tradition, albeit filtered
through amplifiers and pick-ups, but there none the less. Youll hear from Ian
Whitcombs kid brother, Chuck Berrys favourite backing band, the man who wrote
Mr. Bojangles, a future member of Poco, a band featuring the young Bruce
Cockburn, and a whole lot more besides. Come with us along The Golden Road,

The Perfumed Garden - 82 rare flowerings from the British underground
1965-73. 5xCD BOX. Named in honour of John Peels 1967 late-night programme on
pirate radio station Radio London, which Peel named after a 13th century
Arabic sex manual, the original 3 volumes of Past & Presents The Perfumed
Garden, which many affianados felt set the bencmark for future compilations,
were applauded for the quality of both the content and the sound, but these
acolades were often undermined by the lack of information about the tracks
and the artists who performed them. This repackaged version of the first 3
volumes, plus 2 additional volumes compiled by a leading expert on British
psychedelia, contains a scholarly and informative 52 page booklet complete
with rare photographs an exhaustive liner notes. This is full-on UK garage

OUT: BALLROOM BEAT, VOL. 2
Welcome to Try Me Out, 20 tempting portions of prime British Beat previously
uncomped on CD. Psychic Circles second ever release was I Walk The Lonely
Night, a collection of British Beat rarities which concentrated on the
inexplicably overlooked, melodic pop side of the genre. We subtitled the
album Ballroom Beat Vol. 1, to indicate that the music contained within was a
bit more all-embracing than the hard-rocking R&B which emanated from
smoky blues basements. What we have here is Volume 2, full of artistes who
typify Saturday night in a provincial dance hall. Youll find a Scottish band
who only had records released in Germany, one of Brian Epsteins less
successful discoveries, two different early versions of King Crimson, a
Coronation Street actor trying his hand at pop, and the band that would soon
become Marmalade, plus, of course, a host of further delights. Resistance is
futile. TRACK LISTING: 1. BERN ELLIOTT & THE KLAN: Good Times 2. THE ECHO

those great 60s tunes: this one's for you. Rock culture loves obscurity and
mysteries and often zealously guards them, well...this comp gives you all you
want. It's all here, from Stones-influenced complete with raw, rasping
vocals, to ants-in-your-pants groovers, with some downright wild, crazy
ravers thrown in for good measure. So, engulf your cranium in lysergic emanations
- this is as fine a slice of garage-psych dementia as they come. Tracklist:
1. The Night Crawlers: Let's Move 2. The Lincolns: We Got Some 3. The
Lincolns: Pop Kat 4. The Dirty Shames: Makin' Love 5. The Jolly Green Giant:

WEDNESDAY MORNING DEW
Recently we delved into the relatively uncharted waters where American psych
and lush orchestration flow seamlessly together. We called it Realistic
Patterns, and it carried us on a voyage that was both pleasing and
eye-opening. It is now time to take another cruise through similar oceans,
during which we can visit the house band at Sammy Davis Juniors Hollywood
club, an ex-member of The Leaves getting rather groovy, the lead singer of
The Third Bardo doing his solo thing, a song from the man behind The Banana Splits,
and an old bandmate of a pre-Byrds Chris Hillman. Come aboard, the anchors up
and the sea is like a millpond. 1. BLOOMSBURY PEOPLE: Have You Seen Them Cry
2. ERIK: Child Of The Sea 3. MAJIC SHIP: Wednesday Morning Dew 4. THE FALLEN
ANGELS: Room At The Top 5. THE SHAMBLES: World War II In Cincinatti 6. WAYNE
STEWART: If You Could Be Him Instead 7. SUMMERHILL: Follow Us 8. STONY BROOK
PEOPLE: Theres Tomorrow 9. THE BAG: Nickels & Dimes 10. SECRET AGENTS OF

VARIOUS - WITH
THE SUN IN MY EYES
Compilation of rare UK and European psych. With so many similarly-themed
comps around, its genuinely difficult to come up with 20 killer tracks
previously uncomped on CD. However, we can happily reassure any worried
aficianado that the well has not by any means run dry. It may take a little
longer for the pebble to hit the water, but when it does there are still
bucketfuls of lysergically treated fluid to draw up. You'll find Elton Johns
rhythm section, Hungarys top psych band, an army PE instructor who thought he
was the reincarnation of an Egyptian pharaoh, a Swedish Red Indian expert
whose brother sold his records door to door, and the man who asked Where Do
You Go To My Lovely? getting decidedly strange, plus a whole bunch of other
psyched-out artistes. Just say yes. TRACK LISTING: 1. PLASTIC PENNY: GIVE ME
MONEY 2. PETER SARSTEDT: MARY JANE 3. THE MINDBENDERS: YELLOW BRICK ROAD 4.
OLA & THE JANGLERS: NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENS ROUND THE CORNER 5. OMEGA
GROUP: TEN THOUSAND PACES 6. ZION DE GALLIER: ME 7. THE GNOMES OF ZURICH:
HANG ON BABY 8. THE RATTLES: LADY LOVE 9. FOGGY: SHES FAR AWAY 10. MAJORITY ONE:

This fine Californian garage pop act formed at Hollywood's hip Hullabaloo
Club in the spring of 1966, and were soon sharing stages with The Animals,
The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Byrds, The

The incomparable Fanta Damba, otherwise known as La Grand Vedette
Malienne, was cherished for the sensitivity and emotion that she would bring
to all of her work. She was also known as a Griot - a West African
storyteller and historian, who preserves their ancient stories and traditions
through song - and was among the first female griots to achieve international
fame. This superb album, recorded in 1979, and digitally remastered for the
first time, has a guest appearance by the legendary kora player Batourou
Sekou Kouyaté. It is a vintage slice of West African traditional music,
lovingly created by the masters of their craft.

This uniquely African blend of funk, soul, gospel and psych takes us back to
the golden days when Nigeria was a heavy hitter on the global music scene.
Digitally remastered for the first time, The Doves 1975 gem includes the
standout track 'Give Peace To The People'. Laced with all the classic
elements of psych-rock that features in albums by fellow artists such as
Ofege, Blo, Founders 15 and Tirogo, 'The Lord Is My Shepherd' is considered a
lost classic, unearthed for the very first time through Tembo Records.

JOMBO - PURE
PLEASURE
A vintage slice of extremely rare Nigerian electro-boogie, originally
released in 1982 by Nkono Teles and digitally remastered here for the first
time. Throughout the 1980s, the name "Nkono Teles" (or sometimes
"Nkono Telex") was a regular feature in the credits of records by
an array of Nigerian artists ranging from new wave funk and boogie acts like
Dizzy K. Falola, Mandy Brown Ojugbana and Jombo, to reggae upstarts like
Majek Fashek and Ras Kimono, to respected old hands like King Sunny Ade and
Fela. Jombo's 'Pure Pleasure' is one of the sleeper LP's from Nigeria that
criminally fell by the wayside, but has now been restored to its former glory.

KICKS MAGAZINE
ROCK & ROLL PHOTO ALBUM - ISSUE 1/GREAT LOST PHOTOS OF EDDIE
The mayhem continues as Kicks Magazine swings forth with the first lusicous
Rock & Roll Photo Album, a bulging portfolio of kaboomin' KICKS faves
snapped by the legendary Eddie Rocco, the rovin' rhythm Rolleimeister who
swung with hepsters from the Treniers, Ruth Brown, Johnny Otis, Jackie
Wilson, Jan & Dean, Dion, and Roy Orbison to The Byrds, Bob Dylan, The
Beach Boys and The Yardbirds! This is the cat who put ESQUERITA on the cover
of Sepia in 1958 and snapped him eatin' fried chicken! All are included here. Commentary
by Miriam Linna.
