attack. "La Clé" is two minutes and twenty seconds of lean, mean
and meaty Oi! that only Rixe over the last few years have perfected. It's
driving sound is built on razor sharp tight drums, a slightly phased guitar
and vocals that bite and bark. "Nuit Rasoir" is another straight
down the line pounder that could easily have been one of the first ten
releases on No Future Records. "Les Cent Pas" is the final track
and rounds off things with another stomper. The sound is bigger, punchier but
still very much Rixe that you know and love.

ABDUL-MALIK, AHMED - THE MUSIC OF AHMED ADBUL-MALIK
This jazz musician of Sudanese descent shows up here
and there on recording sessions from the -60s, including a stint as a member
of Thelonious Monk-s combo. He also played oud and took part in a variety of
attempts to blend his roots music with jazz, out of which this is one of the
most successful. Indeed, one might overlook the entire fusion nature of this
record and look at is as a prime example of how much brilliant jazz is
created often by relatively unknown players, despite traditional historical
attempts to credit most of the best jazz to a certain pantheon of so-called
'giant' players. The best-known player here is drummer Andrew Cyrille,
recorded here early in his career, playing in a more traditional style then
he would eventually become known for and playing very well to be sure. The
leader-s original tunes are catchy and refreshing, revealing new delights
with each listen. The version of the standard 'Don't Blame Me' is a wonderful
showcase for another undersung player, cellist Calo Scott. Of course the
usual credit should go to recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder, whose efforts
recording small combo jazz have never been matched.

The core of the band in Fishtank Studio is formed by
the two ex Three Mile Pilots Paolo Zoppoli (who used to call himself Pall
Jenkins) and Tobias Nathaniel from California. The line-up is completed by
changing guests from the Californian music scene. So the minimalist ensemble
from San Diego meets the playful sound tinkerers from Holland. The Procession
singer's deep voice is reminiscent of Nick Cave. Distorted guitars,
orchestral cymbals, deep, slow piano sounds, the voice of Swiss Rachael Rose,
vibrating keyboard notes, a lyric violin until Zoppoli's lamenting vocals
kick in, these are combinations that seem hard to bear but are amazingly
listenable. 'The whole thing ends up somewhere in Bad Seeds country, with a
bag full of Ennio Morricone leftovers thrown behind a container full of New
Wave hits,' the label explains on the back of the booklet. With 'In The
Fishtank 11', the two bands not only present a successful album, but also
join Tortoise, Sonic Youth or Motorpsycho, all of whom have already
contributed to this series.

An
incontrovertible influence within the electro-indie music realm, Depeche Mode
went from being a cult, fringe act to stadium megastars. They were one of the
first acts to establish a sound based completely around the use of
syn-thesizers, and although they began their existence as a bouncy dance-pop
outfit, they gradually developed a darker, more dramatic sound that
ultimately positioned them as one of the most successful alternative bands of
all time. This LP contains the live concert, recorded for RSW-FM in San
Francisco 1994 and features a number of timeless hits.

When he really starts "stretchin' out" on a number, and his long,
firmly anchored legs begin vibrating rapidly from side to side, the intense
swing of his music has a natural visual counterpart. It's true that you

as it is poured into his music. This session was not recorded in a nightclub
performance but in its informal symmetry, it matches the relaxed atmosphere
that the best of those made in that manner engender. Everyone was really
together, in all the most positive meanings of that word. It was so good that
Blue Note put these four men in the studio again, two days later. We'll be

Reissue of this great ambient&folk record
from 1984. A well-known to collectors, but extremely rare record by Jon
Iverson, a multi-instrumentalist from Palo Alto and his college friend,
mandolinist Tom Walters. They shared a love for singer/songwriter fare and
gigged around campus playing covers of Neil Young, CSN, and Loggins/Messina
in the late '70s. 'First Collection' was recorded during the spring of 1984
in a small garage that had been converted to a one-room apartment in the
seaside community of Los Osos, California. With an instrumentation of 12-string
guitar, piano, mandolin, analog synthesizers, and sampler, the duo has
recorded nine bright, weightless, and diverse compositions where electronic
experiments mix with ethnic rhythms, sweeping through inspired folk
reminiscent of the works of Master Wilburn Burchette, William Ackerman, John
Fahey and Robbie Basho, to homemade pastoral space folk exuding
sophisticated, pale, lunar sonic moods that somehow might remind of the work
of Roedelius from the early '80s.

With the series 'In The Fishtank', the Dutch music
distributor Konkurrent has an unusual series of collaborations in its
programme. Usually two bands and artists with whom the distributor feels
strongly connected are invited to a two-day studio session. During the
session, there are no limits to creativity. The results are correspondingly
exciting. For example, the meeting of Low and Dirty Three, which took place
in 1999. Both bands played at a festival in Amsterdam and recorded 'In The
Fishtank' on the side. The combination of Low's open, desolate sound and
Dirty Three's melancholic and folky violin sound, as well as the resulting
changes in each musician's playing style, are a listening experience for fans
of both bands. The LP was no longer available for a long time. The version
here comes on normal, black vinyl.

hometown of Austin and nearby San Antonio, Militia received little attention
outside of Texas during their short-lived existence from 1984-1986. But
through the years, the well-deserved praise garnered by the band's
magnificent self/produced 12" EP The Sybling caused a posthumous cult
following to emerge around Militia. Released in 1986 on the band's own Scythe
Records label, The Sybling became one of the most sought-after private press
U.S. metal records, frequently fetching prices well over $1000 on the rare

of another true CLASSIC by Muslimgauze, originally released in 1999 by the
label BSI in Portland/USA, and NEVER since re-released! This much demanded
first ever re-release comes in completely new artwork, and with all tracks
re-mastered especially for this edition. The regular black vinyl version is
limited to 500 copies. The album was recorded in 1998, some tracks are 'pure'
Muslimgauze and some are re-mixes of tracks from Systemwide's 'Sirius' CD.
Nearly all of the tracks have hand percussion in varying tempos and
intensities and at least 1/2 make use of electronic noise sources. The sound
is very crisp and clean, extremely well produced, recorded, and nicely varied
throughout the length of the album!

Drunk punks Organized Chaos release their first ever
album compiling 18 tracks from two demos from 1981 and 1982 plus the
compilation tracks from Wessex 82 7" and the Riotous Assembly
Compilation LP. Organized Chaos were masters of driving UK82 punk with tin
pot drums, buzzsaw guitars and snarling vocals. If the band had released an
album at the time they could have easily been as influential as Chaos UK or
Disorder. How this band didn't have a Riot City release is anyone's guess.
Simple meat and potatoes UK82 punk for those who still hate Thatcher, are
worried about a nuclear war and despise the system.

Back in stock! The Outsiders, hailing from
Wimbledon, England, were one of the many bands to rise up through the UK is
punk explosion of the late 70s. Citing the Velvet Underground as their
primary influence, The Outsiders were fronted by Adrian Borland, who went on
to form the seminal post-punk band The Sound following the demise of the
band. Gaining exposure through opening for acts such as The Jam and The
Vibrators. Bob Lawrence (bass) and Adrian Janes (aka Jan, drums) rounded out
the band. The Outsiders were the first UK punk band to self-release a full
album (their first LP Calling on Youth), on their own Raw Edge label. With
Close Up, the band matured and further developed into the punk sound that was
clearly a gateway to Borland's work with The Sound. The band were clearly
influenced by the Detroit rock sound of The Stooges and were even joined on
stage by Iggy Pop himself for their rendition of -Raw Power-. Long out of
print on vinyl, this reissue provides a great look into not only the
development of the legendary Adrian Borland, but also a look into the
transitional phase of UK rock from classic to punk.

track round up of demos from The Partisans who formed in Bridgend, South
Wales in 1978 and ended up being one of the cream of the UK82 punk movement.
The first side of the LP has 10 tracks recorded in April 1980 in one day and
like bands in their early years - it features mainly covers. It includes
songs from the Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, UK Subs, Buzzcocks, UK
Subs, Cockney Rejects and yes even more UK Subs. It also has primitive and
raw versions of future Partisans classics 'No Time' and 'I Don't Give A
Fuck'. This demo has never been heard or released in any form. Less than a
year later, February 1981 with Savage leaving and Louise joining on bass, the
band have their most well known line up and are in full flow with a 6 track
demo that was sent to No Future Records. It's not surprising the label
snapped them up straight away as the recordings are high energy and full of anthemic
gems. The label released 'Police Story' and 'Killing Machine' as the debut
7" direct from these recordings. The other four tracks from this demo
have never been released on vinyl. The last three tracks on the LP are the
demos from 1982 recorded for No Future for the '17 Years Of Hell' single.
Rawer and more punk than the actual well known versions. All members of the
bands helped in this release and shared original masters from which
everything was remastered plus archive from their own personal collections
including photos galore, handouts, ticket stubs, interviews etc. which are
included in the 28-page booklet.

the debut from North Carolina's Public Acid. Originally self-released by the
band in 2018 in a criminally small press of 300, LVEUM is proud to finally
get it back in print. PUBLIC ACID's debut is an extremely ugly, powerfully
distorted record. Taking cues from the outer fringes of both Japanese and
Italian hardcore punk and combining it with the weirdness of early primitive

anniversary edition on gold vinyl limited to 500 copies. ' Spids Nogenhat
released their second studio album entitled 'Kommer Med Fred' (roughly
translated to We Come In Peace). Spids Nogenhat have their own take on how
psychedelic rock should sound and are deeply rooted in Danish acid rock of
the early 70's that somehow had a special sound compared to what was
happening in the rest of the world at the time. The lyrics are in Danish and
the album contains 7 original songs and a cover version of Den Gennemsigtige
Mand by Furekåben. Spids Nogenhat (which translates to the magic mushroom
Liberty Cap) was originally formed as a side-project in 1998 by Henrik
'Hobitten' Klitstrom, Morten 'Aro' Larsen and Uffe 'Aramis' Lorenzen (Lorenzo
Woodrose) who at the time all were part of the Copenhagen based band On
Trial. A band that since has led to numerous offshoots like Baby Woodrose,
Ghost Rocket, Dragontears, Black Beacon Orchestra, Aron and lately Quiet
Spring. Spids Nogenhat was inspired by Danish acid rock bands from the early
70s like Alrune Rod, Rode Mor and De Fortabte Spillemænd and played a few
shows in the early years as an accustic guitar trio. In 2001 they released
their debut album 'En Mærkelig Kop Te' (A Strange Cup of Tea) on Orpheus
Records that did not receive much attention at the time but since then has
grown into a serious cult album with several reprints on vinyl. The band
resurrected in 2009 after public demand now including Anders 'Moody Guru'
Skjodt and Anders 'Fuzz Daddy' Gron, who both were in the original line-up of
Baby Woodrose along with Lorenzo, and Sebastian 'Zeppo' Bülow who contributed
with the great visuals that always give a special vibe to the Spids Nogenhat
shows. A legendary concert at Roskilde Festival in 2011 later turned into the
live album 'De Sidste Her På Jorden' from 2012. After the release of Kommer
Med Fred the band has become very popular in Denmark winning two Danish Music
Awards (Grammies) for Best live band of the year and Best Rock album of the
year and playing sold out shows. Recently they also received two Steppeulven
(the association of critics at the Danish newspapers) awards for Best band of
the year and Best Live band of the year.

TELES, NKONO - LOVE VIBRATION
Soundway releases a storming compilation of
Cameroonian-born, Nigerian-based super producer Nkono Teles' solo work. The
pioneer of West African electronic music was known for being tapped by over
100 other musicians to produce or arrange their music, from King Sunny Adé,
Guy Lobe, even Steve Monite's album 'Only You' and more. Having already
appeared on Soundway's best-selling compilation 'Doing It In Lagos', here
more of Nkono's limited solo work is carefully remastered and reissued on
vinyl for the first time. One of a small handful of pioneers of the Nigerian
electronic music scene in the 1980s (alongside the likes of Jake Sollo &
William Onyeabor), Teles was known for being tapped by over 100 musicians to
feature on, produce or arrange their music. The list of '80s Nigerian records
that his sound and style embellished is seemingly endless: Steve Monite (he
arranged and produced the music on the Only You album recently re-issued by
Soundway), Dizzy K, Peter Abdul, Odion Iruoje, Steve Black, Rick Asikpo,
Feladey, Charly Boy, Majek Fashek & Sonny Okosuns, to name just a few,
all engaged his enigmatic production and keyboard services throughout the
1980s. He became known as the first person in Nigeria to push the use of the
drum machine into popular music and created a unique and original boogie-funk
sound combining these new beats with guitars and an array of new and
affordable synthesiser sounds that started appearing in the early 1980s.

with the Dutch anarcho-punks The Ex, which took place in 1999. As different
as both bands are in their musical approaches, the moments in which they are
very similar are even more surprising

(1967) by Los Vidrios Quebrados is released now on vinyl, from the original
IRT masters! Los Vidrios Quebrados were pioneers in Chile in adopting
psychedelia as a musical aesthetic, due to the influences gathered mainly
from British groups. Although they bequeathed only one LP, this one is a
permanent reference of research and applause, for having been worked with
their own material (without covers, as was the norm of local rock at the
time) and combining their electric flight with opinions of social
observation. "Fictions" (1967) is one of the most important rock
albums made in Chile.

A deranged cacophony straight out of London,
England. On their debut, self-titled release, VIOLIN blend elements of
Swedish masters TOTALITÄR and HEADCLEANERS with the muscle and swagger of
Boston 82 and the panicked power of NYHC in the mid 80s. The end result is a
Mind numbingly fast and concise pure hardcore punk that is all together
contemporary, edging in at times on the learned idiocy of Toronto's S.H.I.T.
VIOLIN is the brainchild of Lindsay Corstorphine (SAUNA YOUTH, MONOTONY,
PRIMITIVE PARTS etc) who has written, mixed and recorded everything on this
stellar release, with the exception of the drums, here carried out by the
inimitable Jonah Falco of FUCKED UP fame. Pinning Falco's drumming to
Corstorphine's vision has nailed a sound which is at once huge and perfectly
audible, whilst remaining brutal and ugly in tone. There are moments of
genuine innovation on display as is evident on the track 'Empty Mind' which begins
with discordant noise, before building from a mid-paced swing into frantic
lunacy, and then introducing a harrowing and unexpected synthesiser. The
stark black and white artwork, carried out by Daniel David Freeman, provides
a perfectly abstract and menacing back drop to this slab of primitive
hardcore.

Recorded in 1963 and originally released on Colpix,
'Highlife' was one of Randy Weston's first declared homages to African music
and heritage. A direct fruit of his first trip to Nigeria in 1961, the album
is considered one the highpoints in Weston's long and articulated career.
Beautifully arranged by the great Melba Liston, the music reveals the
unbroken relationship between the African ancestral sensibility and the
Afro-American Jazz experience. Under the direction of Melba Liston and

underground Finnish bands like KOHTI TUHOA and FORESEEN, YLEISET SYYT has
flown under the radar in the Anglophone world, with only a small fraction of
their records' tiny pressings making it outside Finland. Fortunately for you,
the hardcore fanatics at Sorry State and La Vida Es Un Mus have our ears to
the ground, and we agreed that a band this killer deserves a much wider
audience. YLEISET SYYT's sound is both blistering and anthemic, moving nimbly
from full-throttle rippers like "Hygieeninen Ruumis" to tracks like
"Hyväntekijä" and "Luovan Keskiluokan Takapihalla," whose
big chorus hooks could have anchored a Riot City or No Future A-side. The combination
of ferocious performances and songwriting chops might remind you of older
Finnish bands like LAMA, MELLAKKA, and APPENDIX, but MINOR THREAT, THE FIX,
and NECROS are equally apt comparisons.
